A perfect for summer read, This Love is a forbidden love story involving a student and a professor that you know is doomed before it begins, yet you keep hoping, denying the fact that the end of their crazy, sexy summer is coming.
The beginning of this book was a little rough for me and left me uncertain as to if I would enjoy it. The story is told through a dual POV that switches quite often and abruptly which can take a while to get used to. Eventually I did get into the flow of it, though, and stopped even noticing. Another worry was how fast it was going. I don't mean the relationship itself as in insta-love, I mean the timeline passing by. In only the first 15%, weeks have passed while they meet, flirt, tease, make out, insist it can't happen again, fight impulses, make out some more, become text buddies, etc. I felt like all of that was a big blur. Fortunately the book does slow to a steadier pace in the midst of their relationship, letting us savor the best part of their summer - which is also the part that bears the most emotion.
I was surprised by how emotionally connected I became to these characters and their relationship after that speedy start. It first gives the impression that the book stays on the surface of emotional impact with underdeveloped, but fun, characters -- which can be ok for a light summer read. Instead, though, I found myself broken up over this doomed relationship of theirs and reveling in their happy moments. It became an up and down roller coaster ride with just the right amount of heart and tears. Both Avery and Atticus are likeable characters with problems and insecurities that are easy to relate to. The characters could use some tightening up, especially the secondary roles, but as the book focuses on the here and now it's not a big deal that we don't get a full three dimensional look at their individual lives.
Now, let's fixate on Atticus a moment - not hard to do, believe me. This is the kind of love interest I wish all books would aim for, not the pompous jerks we often get. Don't get me wrong, Atticus is not flawless, he's got insecurities and fears of his own, and an ex wife who's a total bag of farts. Most importantly, I love how deeply he cares for everyone in his life: his sister, his best friend, Avery. And how he loves without barriers. Another thing to note is how open they are with each other. They do keep some secrets about their past relationships at first - understandably - but we finally get a couple who communicate instead of assume and overreact. How refreshing! Level headed characters take the win! And just a heads up - this is a New Adult book with a mature, adult relationship, meaning there are (many and hot) graphic sex scenes.
This Love is a sweet, fun, and sexy beach read that I recommend to those who can't get enough of forbidden romances!

Atticus Grimes, 28, is a tatted bad boy history professor in need of a research assistant for his book on pirates.
Where were those professors when I was an undergrad?
Avery Emili, 21, is college student in need of some cash to attend her sister’s Jamaican wedding.
So how did the story hold up years later on a re-read?
I was easily reminded how I liked both of their characters. This is really critical to me for giving 5 stars so I can still see why I rated it that way. Atticus is a little surly and he gives mixed signals at first, but I was sympathetic to the fact that he was still trying to put his life back together. And he was hot in a take-what-he-wants, conventions-be-damned kind of way. And yet I wouldn't call him reckless.
I seriously enjoyed how Avery had a backbone and a brain.
We’re missing more girls like her in the romance market today. While I was rooting for her to just love this sexy man who was all in for her, at the same time I appreciated her concern for their academic careers/professions.
While I usually don’t care for the amount of OW/OM drama that crops up, I have to say that it worked here. The key components being that:
1). Avery and Atticus share a common ground having both been hurt and betrayed by people they loved and trusted. Their experiences weren’t unbalanced.
2.) Neither want their exes back…and they have no problem putting the other’s OM/OW in their place.
Atticus has just enough alpha in him without it ever going overboard.
I felt their sexual tension and chemistry from the start, and there’s a good blend of story and steamy times.
Told via their alternating dual first person POV, it incorporates the taboo student-teacher romance theme. The second book, Beautiful Broken, features Atticus’s sister, Scout, and his buddy, Dane.

As you may have noticed, like many readers I've joined the New Adult craze lately. Now don't worry—I still love my adult romances, and the occasional YA romance as well, but there's something about this new genre that has captured my attention right now. Perhaps it is because most NA books are covering the same age group that I am in right now (give or take a few years, depending on the book in question). As with any genre, there are some great books to be found in this category..and some not so good ones. I'm happy to say that Nazarea Andrew's This Love is a good example of this new genre!
I was hooked from page one; something about the story, the writing, and the characters grabbed me and wouldn't let me go until the end. I'll admit that there were a few places where I may have been annoyed at one character or another, or perhaps skipped a page once or twice, but overall it was a really good book. Sexy and fun, with a good deal of “ah” sweet moments sprinkled throughout as Atticus and Avery worked towards their HEA. And they did have to work for it, as these two could not simply claim their couple status and walk hand-in-hand towards the sunset. Maybe that's why I enjoyed this book so much, because even if they did fall into bed pretty early in the book, it didn't automatically mean that they were in love, and I wondered many times how things were going to work out between them. Would they be caught, would there be a scandal, would the soon-to-be-ex wife ruin their HEA? I didn't know, but I had to find out!
4 STARS! If you want to try a New Adult romance, This Love may be the one for you! A sexy young professor who falls for the girl he hires as a research assistant, followed by plenty of steamy action and passion (bonus: Atti is a bit of a dirty talker at times—yum!), this was simply a fun book to read. For me, I started it in the morning, read it whenever I had free time throughout the day, and finished it before I went to sleep that night. I didn't want to leave this book, and I very much look forward to future books by this new author! Oh, and when Nazarea told me that Dane's book is next, I * may * have done a happy dance. I'm very excited to have his story told, he was just as sexy and interesting as Atticus!

Forget forbidden love between teacher and student - this dude still hasn't even gotten his DIVORCE PAPERS signed. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but technically he's still married.) WTF. That is a BIG NO-NO since he's flirting and all with the main girl Avery.
The switch between POV's are also fucking annoying. It switches about 4 times in one chapter after a couple of pages and felt abrupt and disjointed.
Finally, the pacing felt so weird. It didn't feel like Insta-love or attraction yet the dude still pulled moves on her. It was spontaneous and got me going "huh?!?" Even if I could continue with a STILL FUCKING MARRIED love interest, my total apathy with the characters sealed the deal.
Overall:
I'm sure many NA readers will enjoy this and let these things slide, so I'd totally recommend this one if you're okay with the stuff I listed above. If, like me, they make you feel uncomfortable and would deter your enjoyment in reading, definitely skip it.

I love Forbidden Love types of story.
I don’t know I just like this slightly scandalous yet intriguing feeling that stories like that gives me. I love the mystery of it all; I wanted to see how something that is doomed from the start would end.
He's a professor that needed an assistant to arrange his research papers and she's in a serious need of a job that could give her enough money for her to attend her sister's wedding in Jamaica.
How convenient for them right?
This Love’s plot is pretty simple – the blurb seems to say it all. Having a pretty simple plot could be a bad thing for others but Nazarea Andrew makes this simple story into something that would definitely tickle your curiosity and imagination. Plus the simple setting of the story makes it all easy to dive into; it’s easy to read through.
The author presented to us two undeniably adorable characters: Avery and Atticus. A woman with her own perspective - Avery Emili; She is this strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it no matter what. The pirate and legend enthusiast - Atticus Grime; Well, he's the professor, the kind that makes his student drools and simply wants to stare at during lectures.
They’re simply supposed to have a very casual and simple relationship - but when attraction strikes, it strikes right? No matter how much you fought and hide it it’s all a losing battle. They’ve both been through rough relationships and still have the hard time trusting someone, but seeing them fell into a relationship that is all so good was just so fun to watch. Just when you thought the time for them to part ways would come, they would rub it off and come back to each other.
The two main characters being described, I don know if it’s just me or all the secondary/supporting characters are all forgettable. Secondary characters play a great deal for me but it seems like this is where the story seemed to lack: its distinction with its secondary characters. It’s not that I want them to take the spotlight from Atti and Avery, I just think that its so much better for them to have a very unforgettable stand on the story.
Another thing is the way one of the main characters doesn’t seem to want to sacrifice in order for their relationship to work. It’s called compromise, sweetheart.
From the sexy professor, to the student assistant, the undeniable tension, creepy and weird ex's, This Love is one good reading company. I’m still itching for more with that epilogue but all is well that end’s well. If you want an easy, romance read, don’t fail to pick this one up.

These key players make the road a bit bumpy for Atticus and Avery which only adds to their already thick walls from there jaded pasts. But love has a way a chipping past that and taking hold.
Avery and Atticus had an easy companionship and love with each other with a whole bunch of chemistry thrown in.
Good quick story with angst, drama, friendship and love.

This Love is the first work I’ve read from author Nazarea Andrews and is the first in her University of Branton Series. Well, she’s got a new fan in this blogger. I devoured this book….it was famtastic!
Avery Emili needs two things during this summer break at college….she needs to make some good money for a plane ticket to get to her sister’s wedding and she needs a reason not to go home for summer break. Easier said than done when the college town you live in turns into a ghost town during the summer months. So when she finds an add for a research assistant in her area of study, she thinks she’s found the perfect job….until she sees who she will be working for. A deliciously handsome young professor complete with perfectly mussed dark hair and tattoos peeking out from his dress shirt. Surley she would be able to keep her mind out of the gutter and keep things professional….right?
Atticus Grimes looks around at the mess of paperwork, files, pizza boxes and realizes he’s desperately in need of some help. His lif has been turned upsidedown after he left his marriage and his work is suffering now, too. He’s relied on help from his best friend, which apparently included a Craigslist add for a research assistant he had no clue was placed. Unfortunately, as he sits across from a beautiful and charming applicant, he can’t be upset about the surprise ad. He’s gotta get focused on getting stuff back on track…he has a feeling this applicant may be exactly what he needs, in more ways than one.
Atticus and Avery both have there own versions of a painful past and in need of healing. Little do they know that they just may be able to find that in each other.
So, I started this book on a Friday night and was finished by Saturday afternoon. Yes, it was that good. It was flirty and fun and emotional and perfectly balanced. Atticus, or shall I call him Professer Hottiepants, is delectable. He is smart, sexy, playful and broken, all of which makes for a great book guy. Avery is equally smart, playful, beautiful and also broken. Together they just work. Really, really well. They play off of one another beautifully and build such exquisite sexual tension. The scenes between them are emotional and damn sexy…really well done *fans self* totally yummy. This is one of those books that pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let up until the last page.
I cannot wait for this book to release so all of you can grab yourself a copy, settle in by the pool or on the beach, and enjoy some quality time with Professor Hottiepants and Avery! Thank you, Ms. Andrews, for an amazing story! I am really looking forward to more of the University of Branton Series! *cough, Dane, cough*

He’s relied on help from his best friend, which apparently included a Craigslist add for a research assistant he had no clue was placed. Unfortunately, as he sits across from a beautiful and charming applicant, he can’t be upset about the surprise ad. He’s gotta get focused on getting stuff back on track…he has a feeling this applicant may be exactly what he needs, in more ways than one.
Atticus and Avery both have there own versions of a painful past and in need of healing. Little do they know that they just may be able to find that in each other.
So, I started this book on a Friday night and was finished by Saturday afternoon. Yes, it was that good. It was flirty and fun and emotional and perfectly balanced. Atticus, or shall I call him Professer Hottiepants, is delectable. He is smart, sexy, playful and broken, all of which makes for a great book guy. Avery is equally smart, playful, beautiful and also broken. Together they just work. Really, really well. They play off of one another beautifully and build such exquisite sexual tension. The scenes between them are emotional and damn sexy…really well done *fans self* totally yummy. This is one of those books that pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let up until the last page.
I cannot wait for this book to release so all of you can grab yourself a copy, settle in by the pool or on the beach, and enjoy some quality time with Professor Hottiepants and Avery! Thank you, Ms. Andrews, for an amazing story! I am really looking forward to more of the University of Branton Series! *cough, Dane, cough*

MICHELLE'S REVIEW OF THIS LOVE
I really enjoyed this story between Avery and Atticus. I have to say the synopsis didn't really do it justice. This is more than two people finding each other. There's a whole forbidden element mixed with their baggage that really pulls you in. This book reminded me a lot of Gabriel's Inferno, which is probably my #1 book of the romance genre. So that's a great thing but it also makes it hard for me not to pull comparisons along the way. However, the similarities don't run too deep and the books are different enough to make it possible to enjoy This Love on its own.
I cannot say enough about Atticus. Holy. shit. First of all, I love the reference to To Kill a Mockingbird. So great. Anyways, Atticus is just sex on a stick. His commanding presence in the bedroom, his slow seduction of Avery and his alpha tendencies are all enough to make my lady parts tingle. Atticus definitely wins a spot in my book boyfriend list. Be still my uterus.
Oh God- and the way he loves her!! You know what Avery, you don't deserve Atticus. Seriously. I totally got that Avery had her own baggage but even after it all came out I just thought she was being ridiculous. Take a chance woman- grow a pair and take what you want and stop crying! I'm like:
This is where I really struggled. Atticus did everything right. He walked into their relationship with eyes wide open. He knew it was going to be tough but he wanted what he wanted. And when he knew that Avery was enough for him he would stop at nothing. But Avery at every turn was just debby downer. Take a chance woman!!
Also I didn't love how her life just seemed to stop. She was a shitty friend and didn't even look at her grad school letters. Snap out of it chick! Either go get what you want or quit your whining.
Overall, I really did like the story line. Even though Avery got on my nerves through the 2nd half, I was still rooting for them as a couple. You get a little bit of the other characters in there but not too much. And I don't think this was a bad thing. Really the focus was Atticus and Avery and that was perfect.

I loved this book. I only wish when I was in college the professor were young and hot, like Atticus. But I digress.
The relationship between Avery and Atticus was supposed to be simple. She was his assistant and did whatever she needed to do to help him with his research. But the attraction was there. The fought it, but I think we all knew going in that was a battle they were going to lose. But as these two fell into a relationship they had both set an expiration date to, it was fun to follow them and see how neither of them wanted the expiration date and needed more. But it was also heartbreaking to see that one of them wasn't willing to give up everything they worked for in order to be together (I don't want to spoil this, so that's all you'll get).
It was obvious, both of them had relationship issues. Avery had been dumped by her fiance, at the alter, at a very young age. It left her devastated and not willing to put herself in that kind of position again. For Atticus, he had great hope that his relationship with his high school sweetheart would last but had it come crumbling down around him and he wasn't to give his heart away. But when they were together, it was as if all those insecurities and doubts they had before melted away. It was only when they were either alone or allowed outside influences in that they started to doubt themselves and one another, in terms of their relationship.
While we got a happily ever after for Avery and Atticus, I would really like to know what the responses were in the envelopes that were opened in the epilogue and just how Avery and Atticus deal with that moving forward.
This was a great book. It was fun, flirty, sexy, hot and (at times) heartbreaking. It was a pleasure to read and one that I highly recommend, because everyone has to meet Professor Atticus Grimes.

WOW! Simply WOW! I didn’t know what to expect from This Love! I love her writing style and her “oh so steamy” scenes aren’t the run of the mill oh no they are freaking fantastic and you get to see a side of Atti that had me wanting to jump in my Kindle and be Avery for a while!!!

I received a copy of this book from Kelly over at InkSlingerPR in exchange for an honest review for this release day book launch event. I am very excited to take part, because I fell in love with this book and it's characters and I'm happy to be able to help share this book with you all! After reading the blurb, This Love sort of called out to me and begged me to read it. I am both extremely happy I did and a bit bummed. I'm Happy because this book just completely rocked me. From the first chapter right up to the very last it did me in. So why am I bummed? It's simple, I am so not ready to move on. I just want to keep it all with me let it float around and stay absorbed in it. Sigh. I want more!
There's nothing I love more than an amazing story of forbidden love. The whole teacher student relationship being very taboo and a bit thrilling. In this case we have a young, fresh out of grad school college professor and a college senior. Atticus is quite noticeably a mess when we first meet him. His life has literally fallen apart and he's not quite ready to pick up the pieces and would rather drink himself numb than proactively get his crap together. Avery on the other hand, though things are messed up in her life too it's not quite as fresh, yet she still has trust issues and can't seem to let it go to the point that it affects her emotionally.
These two are so freaking adorable in the beginning, after he's hired her (which was a pretty funny event in itself). There's definitely an instant attraction though because they can't do anything about it due to his job and her position both as a student and his employee instead they try to fight it. The subtle and not so subtle flirtations that happen are so fun to read especially when she's helping him find an apartment. Holy crap. I could read that scene again, and again, and again... Atticus is very... alpha and sexual and sensual. Any time things heat up between these two it's just so emotionally raw and intense. The steaminess level is through the roof and it doesn't disappoint, it just keeps getting better and better. Though the whole book did that not just the naughty parts. ;)
He doesn't so much kiss me as consume me, like I'm essential to his survival.
There was only one tiny thing that annoyed me, but lets face it, you can find these in pretty much every really good NA out there. I hate to put it this way because it makes me feel sort of "mean girl" but, that sort of slutty best friend. You know, the ones who think the answer to anything is to find a hot guy and jump into bed with him and get over it? I hate to use the word slutty, but Avery had one and she was the type who would attempt to push the idea on Avery and I wanted to choke her!
"I can't," I say. "I love you, Avery."
She inhales sharply, a little noise that carries a world of hurt. "Love wasn't part of the deal, Atticus."
It was a pretty emotional road to love with these two. At times I wondered if Avery would ever come around. I was completely wrapped up in this book, 100% emotionally vested. I devoured it in less than a day. It was my first book by Nazarea Andrews and it definitely won't be the last. It's a quick and delicious read and I can't recommend it enough! Thank you so much Kelly for letting me be part of this tour!

Avery Emili’s sister has just hit her with a shock that will leave her desperate for two grand. Atticus Grimes is getting divorced after seeing his wife in a bed with two men. Now he needs to find an assistant before time runs out to do his research. When Atticus’ best friend Dane takes charge and gets Atticus an assistant he doesn’t know what to think until he sees her. Working together proves to both difficult and rewarding as sexual tension builds between the two of them with each passing moment. When Avery and Atticus finally give in to temptation their pasts begin to collide with their present and feelings that shouldn’t be there begin to form between them. Now Atticus and Avery must decide if they can put behind them and their professional obstacles to be together forever.
Dear Nazarea Andrews you are awesome. I loved This Love and could not put it down for one moment. The book is split up between the two main characters Avery and Atticus which as you should know by now I am a huge fan of. I have to say I was a tad skeptical as to whether I would like this book because the theme of student and teacher relationships in New Adult fiction seems like a huge theme but took the relationship and twisted it enough to where it wasn’t the overdone theme. Nazarea’s writing was amazing and so was the story telling. I loved This Love so so much. The characters grew so much and yet stayed the same great characters I fell in love with at the beginning of the book. Both characters have pasts and flaws and insecurities but that didn’t keep them down or prevent them many times from growing or going after what they wanted.
Overall, I loved This Love and I cannot wait for the next installment of this awesome series. This story reminded me a lot of Losing It by Cora Carmack, Wait for You by J. Lynn, H.M. Wards’ The Arrangement and Damaged Series, and Easy by Tammara Webber. This Love is definitely a great New Adult book that will have readers falling in love with the author and the New Adult series if they haven’t already.

A quick read, but not one that makes any remarkable strides in the New Adult Genre. This Love deals with a forbidden student-teacher relationship, but this aspect of the romance is largely ignored by both love interests until the last quarter of the novel. In some ways, I can see the logistics behind this - a summer fling that wasn't supposed to come with emotional attachments - but I felt oddly distanced from the romance at hand, likely because of it. Andrews fails to play up the forbidden element which forced This Love from a unique category to a rather predictable one. I found the plot line to be reminiscent of typical romance novels, complete with two leads whose past troubles force them to seek solace in one another, only to find love instead. Unlike Unteachable, where the student-teacher romance only adds to the plot, This Love isn't a novel I'd recommend for those looking for a slightly different flavor of love story. Andrews's prose isn't anything spectacular and, I'm afraid, neither are her characters. In conclusion: not a bad novel, just one I feel remarkably indifferent towards.

I was lucky enough to beta read this book-- and I LOVED it. Atticus is just... *sigh*. For anyone who likes a good forbidden romance that comes about in a plausible way, THIS LOVE is a book for you. Avery and Atticus's story made me squeal at several points, and practically chew my nails off at a few parts. Great book. :)

This Love is the story of Avery and Atticus (aka The Professor) - both extremely likable and even lovable - both the victims of horrible past relationships - that come together in an unexpected and rather cute way to begin working together over the summer. Avery is a college student in need of a job, in need of some money. Quick! And Atticus is a college professor in need of an assistant with some serious organizational skills. Atticus used to have an assistant, but she wasn't a good fit so she left the position. Seeing Atticus in need, best buddy Dane took it upon himself to secretly take out an ad in Craiglist for the assistant position, which is when Avery comes into his life: she calls about the job. It can't hurt to at least check it out, right?
WELL, FOLKS. Atticus is asleep when his phone starts going crazy, ringing off off the hook. He wonders why the heck he has something like fourteen or so missed calls in a few hours. Nobody ever calls him! Out of curiousity, Atticus picks up the next ring and is simultaneously intoxicated by the sweet voice he hears (Avery!) and pretty upset that Dane would take out an ad in Craigslist without his permission. While Atticus can feel his blood pressure rising with the need to kick Dane's butt, he agrees to meet with Avery to discuss the position at a local coffeehouse. Not because her voice is super-sexy and wildly enticing. Naw, not that. Because, you now, she might turn out to be a good assistant. Yeah, that.
So they meet. She's hot, he's hot. There is instant-attraction going on here. (I LOVED IT.) But both of them are on a mission...and they walk away with both of their needs being met: Atticus gets an assistant and Avery gets a job that actually pays pretty well. Avery starts working right away, she does the job well, and Atticus is impressed over and over and over. The end. Sounds easy, right? Cut and dry? OH NO. No way. There's WAY more to all of this, folks. And I just ate it up.
You guys remember that instant-attraction I mentioned? Well can you imagine working in extremely close quarters over the summer with a professor that "looks good enough to eat" - yep, it actually says that in the book. ATTICUS LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT. (Sidenote: You guys, the way Nazarea Andrews wrote the story, I totally believe this.) And HELLO!! Avery is a college student. Y'all know how those young college girls are always wearing those cute little outfits and stuff. Stuff is bound to happen. And it does.
But this story is more than that - more than sexual tension and steamy scenes and romance, although those things are super great.
Atticus basically falls hard for the little things he learns about Avery, even when he knows he probably shouldn't - the way she can't/won't do anything in the morning without her coffee (attagirl, Avery!) - it can't be that fake coffee either or coffee drinks - Avery wants the real deal, real coffee. He loves that. He loves that she waltzes right into his home office and cooks or cleans or organizes or whatever needs to be done - she's a take charge kind of gal that isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. And she's beautiful, so beautiful. She doesn't feel the need to constantly be dressed to the nines - she's comfortable in yoga pants and a crazy-looking tee shirt or whatever. She's comfortable with herself, which is pretty sexy. Despite the fact that Atticus is up-to-his-eyeballs with an ex-wife that is giving him a very difficult time signing some divorce papers, he cannot help but fall hard for Avery. He ends up loving this girl. This could be a very interesting/dangerous thing when the semester starts back and he is professor and she is a student. Not his student, a student. But still.
And oh Avery! Sweet little Avery. Avery comes from a pretty tough relationship history as well - the thing about hers is that you don't really get the details about it until you're pretty invested into the story. You get hints - the barest of hints. You get just enough to know that this girl has been burned in the past and she's totally petrified of opening her heart to someone else. Sure, she gets reassurances from her best friend and sister that it's okay to let her guard down and have some fun for the summer - especially with a very attraction man like Atticus - but it doesn't really help. Avery had a rough time not-so-long-ago. Eventually, though, she just can't help it - she falls too. She wants to be around that man 24/7. Despite her feelings and intentions - and despite her job - she is falling for him and that isn't part of the deal! She doesn't want that! Wait, does she? PLUS, Avery has carefully laid-out plans for graduate school and a career - how on earth will Atticus fit into all of that? Nope, she can't let herself fall for this man. She. Can. Not. She'll keep working for him for now, but there is definitely an expiration on their "relationship." (The more she said that, the more my heart would just squeeze and break because I was scared of what would happen!)
This Love by Nazarea Andrews is, as I mentioned earlier, the perfect summer read. It is oozing, dripping, completely filled with romantic tension, with swoony moments, with a bit of steam, and with some falling in love. I'm adding this to my list of favorite stories lately, and I love so much about it. I love the sweet Southern setting as well as the Jamaican beach setting. I love the relationship between Avery and Atticus. I love the push-and-pull, the should we?/shouldn't we? between these two, and I love the way that they finally give into their feelings after fighting for so long - only to then resume the push-and-pull. I love the desperation that came with the admission that they finally felt things for each other and OH MY GRACIOUS we could get into trouble for this if anyone found out, and I loved the lengths that one (or both of them - no spoilers!) went to in order to ensure (or maybe get back) the relationship once the semester started. This book, you guys, this book.
Avery Emili is every college girl. She's that girl. She's also a little bit of every New Adult girl. She's the one that's been wronged before and therefore she doesn't want to go back home (read: her hometown) because she doesn't want to see her ex-boyfriend, aka the douchebag. She has great friends and her sister is her everything. In this case, her sister is getting married and she is not the most thrilled about this that she can be. She we can read and begin to pick up clues about why she loves her sister so much but is less-than-thrilled about this wedding. Why is that? Seems a little off, no? Also, Avery is super smart (yes!) and organized and a perfect fit to do the job for Atticus. She surprises the heck out of him, takes him by storm. He wasn't expecting this little gal to breeze into his life and completely take it over, organizing it into files and an easily manageable system, but Avery did it, and now they're both smitten like crazy. And you guys, Avery doesn't know what to do. She fights her feelings - way too much, exhaustingly so - because she puts her old feelings for this bad, bad guy from her past on this new and great guy right in front of her. It's frustrating at times. Sometimes, sweet lil Avery gave me a case of whiplash. But I understand, I do. But still, Avery - you have Atticus standing in front of you - give it up, girl. Go on and kiss the boy!
Then there is Atticus. Good gracious, that man. I'm not sure where Nazarea Andrews found him, but I'd like one, please! No, seriously, I just loved him. Initially, like when he and Avery are in the early stages of their relationship - like, barely know each other - Atticus is so rude. He's cocky and way too sure of himself. But he's fine, you guys. He's SO HOT. And also a hot mess. His work is important to the University, but it's an organizational disaster - totally mixed-up and just, well, a mess. His last assistant completely screwed him over as far as doing a good job, so Atticus really does need to take a chill pill and just watch and see what Avery can do. When she blows into his workspace and takes over and does well, he is highly impressed, and from there he begins to settle down a bit. I'll admit, part of his settling down and letting Avery do her work is part visual attraction - he's wildly attracted to her (part of why this book is so fun and yummy) but it eventually grows to so much more than just attraction and it's actually Atticus that realizes that he has the real, true, can't-live-without-her feelings first. The LOVE feelings that made my heart pitter-patter. I'm so serious - I love this character. The lengths that this man went to to express his love to this girl who is - for all intensive purposes somewhat damaged and a lot thick-headed and incredibly wishy-washy - I just want an Atticus of my own.
I would be a very poor blogger if I didn't mention the past relationships of these two, particularly Atticus. The relationship that Atticus is having a difficult time dropping is like a thorn in his side and is very present throughout the story. It pops up when readers least expect it and I found myself wanting to just brush it off of my Kindle, so very despicable is this gal he used to be involved with. BUT I had to stick with Atticus and trust him and see how things ended up. And Avery's past is just as bad, but since Nazarea Andrews was sparing with her details early on, you're certainly not getting anything from me here. It's just...ICK. The guy is just plain awful. But I will say that once Atticus finds out about it, WOW and HOT and I loved Atticus even more. HOWEVER, it is interesting how both of these relationships worked into the story, like little secret cups that are filling up and waiting to spill over and ruin a nice tablecloth. So much potential to do so much damage if they aren't checked...
You guys, I've repeated myself to say that This Love is a favorite in a while. It had that perfect summer feel to it, which is why it felt so good to read part of the book outside. Plus, check out that amazing cover! This book will do so nicely out by the pool or by the beach, or maybe just in the backyard or the porch. Heck, read it in the house if you will. Just do read it. I think you'll love Atticus and Avery and their story. I know I did. It's certainly been a summer favorite of mine and I will definitely be re-reading it.
I recommend This Love to fans of New Adult Contemporary Romance and fans of college settings. There are also some other great settings in this book: New Orleans and Jamaica. WHAT?! I know. This book is steamy, which is fun, but younger readers need to use caution when picking it up - it's definitely for the older-YA reading or adult-YA reading crowds only. I'm ready for the next part of the story, Nazarea Andrews! Great job with this one and nice job by your cover-marketing team!

This Love is the story of Avery and Atticus (aka The Professor) - both extremely likable and even lovable - both the victims of horrible past relationships - that come together in an unexpected and rather cute way to begin working together over the summer. Avery is a college student in need of a job, in need of some money. Quick! And Atticus is a college professor in need of an assistant with some serious organizational skills. Atticus used to have an assistant, but she wasn't a good fit so she left the position. Seeing Atticus in need, best buddy Dane took it upon himself to secretly take out an ad in Craiglist for the assistant position, which is when Avery comes into his life: she calls about the job. It can't hurt to at least check it out, right?
WELL, FOLKS. Atticus is asleep when his phone starts going crazy, ringing off off the hook. He wonders why the heck he has something like fourteen or so missed calls in a few hours. Nobody ever calls him! Out of curiousity, Atticus picks up the next ring and is simultaneously intoxicated by the sweet voice he hears (Avery!) and pretty upset that Dane would take out an ad in Craigslist without his permission. While Atticus can feel his blood pressure rising with the need to kick Dane's butt, he agrees to meet with Avery to discuss the position at a local coffeehouse. Not because her voice is super-sexy and wildly enticing. Naw, not that. Because, you now, she might turn out to be a good assistant. Yeah, that.
So they meet. She's hot, he's hot. There is instant-attraction going on here. (I LOVED IT.) But both of them are on a mission...and they walk away with both of their needs being met: Atticus gets an assistant and Avery gets a job that actually pays pretty well. Avery starts working right away, she does the job well, and Atticus is impressed over and over and over. The end. Sounds easy, right? Cut and dry? OH NO. No way. There's WAY more to all of this, folks. And I just ate it up.

You guys remember that instant-attraction I mentioned? Well can you imagine working in extremely close quarters over the summer with a professor that "looks good enough to eat" - yep, it actually says that in the book. ATTICUS LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT. (Sidenote: You guys, the way Nazarea Andrews wrote the story, I totally believe this.) And HELLO!! Avery is a college student. Y'all know how those young college girls are always wearing those cute little outfits and stuff. Stuff is bound to happen. And it does.
But this story is more than that - more than sexual tension and steamy scenes and romance, although those things are super great.
Atticus basically falls hard for the little things he learns about Avery, even when he knows he probably shouldn't - the way she can't/won't do anything in the morning without her coffee (attagirl, Avery!) - it can't be that fake coffee either or coffee drinks - Avery wants the real deal, real coffee. He loves that. He loves that she waltzes right into his home office and cooks or cleans or organizes or whatever needs to be done - she's a take charge kind of gal that isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. And she's beautiful, so beautiful. She doesn't feel the need to constantly be dressed to the nines - she's comfortable in yoga pants and a crazy-looking tee shirt or whatever. She's comfortable with herself, which is pretty sexy. Despite the fact that Atticus is up-to-his-eyeballs with an ex-wife that is giving him a very difficult time signing some divorce papers, he cannot help but fall hard for Avery. He ends up loving this girl. This could be a very interesting/dangerous thing when the semester starts back and he is professor and she is a student. Not his student, a student. But still.
And oh Avery! Sweet little Avery. Avery comes from a pretty tough relationship history as well - the thing about hers is that you don't really get the details about it until you're pretty invested into the story. Avery & Atticus story

As a reminder, my reviews are my views on a book and its characters. I try to avoid spoilers and will forewarn of them. I do not synopsis a book like many reviewers do, which to me is superfluous.
I’ll start at the cover…Fine and lovely work by Melissa Stevens, The Illustrated Author.
There was mention in another review(s) that Avery calling her father “Daddy” is immature. Personally, I realized that this story takes place in the South. I am from Texas. I have 45 year-old, highly educated, female friends still calling their fathers, Daddy. To clarify, it’s often a southern thing. I do understand that maybe the author could have recognized she was writing for a national, if not an international, audience and should have avoided that term. But where’s the originality in that? Where’s the reality of culture?
In books similar to this that I’ve read before, it’s always the woman who’s whining about the man not showing her love or saying I love you, or not wanting to stick it out, and how he doesn’t want to give up everything for her. Some reviewers must like this old redundant theme. For me, in this book, it was the other way around. It’s Avery who unselfishly didn’t want to see Atticus give up his life for her though the whole idea of losing him hurt her deeply. And she was afraid to mess up her own life too. Doesn’t that show consideration and ambition? I don’t see it as being weak or selfish, but being strong and level headed. I don’t know if this was the author’s intention or if the characters just wrote it that way, but it’s refreshing.
Atticus’ willingness to give up his life, move on to another job just to give this relationship a try is something we see very little of in reality or in books. I would call it uplifting; gallant, even. He’s not a shallow ass-chaser where Avery’s concerned. And unfortunately, we still see a lot of male chauvinistic behaviors in romance or erotic novels. Come on…Overdone. I like it better the Nazarea Andrews way.
The age difference between the two characters didn’t matter to me. I mean, this book is about a relationship that is taboo. In actuality, this is how it would be between a professor and a student who’s a senior in college. That’s where the illicit relationship comes in. Don’t we still believe that art imitates life? What I would’ve liked to have seen, however, was more near misses during the relationship. In truth, I would’ve enjoyed seeing them – a time or two - trying to hide from Atticus’ colleagues in a restaurant or her classmates at the mall in effort not to be caught. There are no cliff hangers, no hold-your breath-moments as far as action and intrigue. This story had the potential to be longer.
The characters seem to be developed enough for this first book in the series, but they could be more rounded. I think Atticus is definitely a hottie, but out of the appearing characters, Dane was my choice for most appealing. I’m always looking for a deviant underdog. By that I mean, I’m looking for someone to prove to me they are better a person than I first thought them to be. It’s early on in this series, but I’m looking to Dane for that role.
My hopes for future UB books: I wish the author will develop Avery’s character more if she is still to play a big role. Who is she, really? I can see the author’s not afraid to be original, so she should be more daring as well. This Love needed more tension – but not of the sexual kind, and a couple of “Oh, no. Run!” moments.
There are some details I did not like about the book and they are my personal reasons for not giving it 4 stars and have nothing to do with the story in general. While I absolutely love a First Person narrative, I did not like the “present tense” the book is written in. This is my opinion and has no bearing on the author or her work, but I think it caused a few of the lines of prose to be delivered awkwardly. I feel it limited the book as far as delivery and description. My brain had a hard time wrapping itself around the present tense narrative. That being said, I still must give kudos to the author for writing in this format. It is different.
Next, usually when we open to a chapter and there’s a heading such as “Chicago” or “April 2010”, we know that the following passage is about that subject. So when I opened to chapter one of This Love and read “Avery”, I assumed the passage was about Avery. I did not right off realize it was a cue to her speaking…or that the title meant that the passage was written from her point of view. So it took me a bit to realize that Avery was the one talking. In fact, it took me to the middle of next section titled “Atticus” for me to realize what was going on.
Also, while I have no problem with sex in a book, this one was a bit overboard. I’d like to see Atticus and Avery doing more than sex and drinking coffee. While sex can sell a book, it cannot sell a relationship to an audience. The ending was a bit hurried. As I said earlier, I feel this book could have been longer. I’d love to see this author really let loose. I’d like to see more obstacles and tension. Maybe Nik should’ve set Atticus’ car on fire for revenge

I enjoy young adult and new adult books, but usually go for action, fantasy, mystery, or paranormal so the romance side of those genres is new to me. Overall This Love is a good summer read, especially for young adults. Although there seems to be no plot (but a lot of books do not have one) its succession seems to be finely planned out, and This Love is well written. I did run across a few over looked editing issues but nothing that takes away from the story. This series has great potential.
I am also interested in the Scout character and was pleasantly surprised to read the Epilogue to find that the next book, Beautiful Broken, is about Dane and Scout. I’ll be reading that one as I’m sure Dane won’t disappoint me. *wink* I’m sure it’s a 4-star read!

I don't think this author is for me.
Her disjointed and incomplete sentences and situations don't make up for good read.
Feelings and chemistry between the leads felt more like lust than love coz for every ex fuck buddy they meet they think it inside their head of how good it was and what not.
Which i feel i not right when you say you love someone and are committed to them.
Nor did i find the situations endearing.
I didn't like or hate the h, but for me she was really irritating person who wanted the H to keep calling and messaging her even if she doesn't care to reply back and seems to be most confused and i really don't think she loved the H.
H was better than her but seemed juvenile not at all a matured person. Seems to jump in relationships, is confused and has a problematic sis whom he keeps on offloading to the bestie
even if the wife cheated not sure the love could be switched off or did he not love her??
The best friend Dane is someone i am not sure how to feel about.
He hates the h don't know why and nor did he feel like he is good.

This Love is a novel about forbidden love and baggage.
Avery Emili is a junior in college. She only has one year left before it's time to move to grad school. She plans to spend this summer working and filling college applications. Except her sister has decided to get married in Jamaica and while Avery knows her father will pay for everything she insists on getting a job and working near her apartment instead of coming home. Facing the pain of her past isn't on her list of things to do this summer...or ever, really. Seeing an ad in the local classifieds for a research assistant, she takes a chance and places the call.
Atticus Grimes is a professor at the local University. Having just moved out of the home he shares with his cheating wife, Atticus finds himself crashing with his best friend, and ignoring the mess of research he managed to shove into boxes and grab before leaving. He really needs an assistant to help him make sense of the chaos he's in the midst of but he hasn't really taken the time to search for one. When a woman calls him asking about his job posting, he's not only confused, since he didn't place an ad, but intrigued, and sets up an interview with her.
Avery is excited to have a job to fill her time before the wedding but she's not sure she can handle working for the gorgeous professor who is not only moody but send her extremely mixed signals. Atticus knows Avery is off limits but he just can't help himself when she's around. She so different from his hopefully soon-to-be ex-wife. Both Avery and Atticus come to the mutual conclusion that their relationship has an expiration date - one that comes about around the time college classes start again. Only, can either one let go of the other when it's time?
This is a good novel about forbidden love: College professors are not allowed to date students so Avery and Atticus already have one strike against them. The devastation that Avery endured at the hands of her former fiance has closed her up emotionally and the fact that Josh won't leave her alone is a constant reminder of what he did to her. Atticus has issues with Nik, the wife he left, when she becomes extremely difficult to deal with. Both Avery and Atticus don't go into their relationship blindly but neither of them expect anything to develop outside of the great sex they have. Friends with benefits - except it doesn't seem to stay that way.
Avery and Atticus still have extreme issues in their lives that need to be dealt with. Neither will be able to move forward with their lives if they explore them and make them right.
I'm not particularly fond of the "voice" this novel is told in but I managed to put that aside because I like the plot and characters. This New Adult novel pulls you into the world of Nazarea's University of Branton and keeps you engaged with the story. It may seem to be a long novel but it reads so quick and easily that you'll have it finished before you know it and not feel slighted in the least. There is a lot of emotion woven throughout the pages and not just between Atticus and Avery. Avery has to deal with a stalker ex-fiance, and Atticus deals with a snobby bitch of an almost former spouse. It's not all wine and roses for these two. Their romance isn't an easily traveled road.
Just remember that once you start this novel it keeps you hooked until the very last page!

That’s how This Love made me feel: Slightly scandalous, arousing and so in-my-face, I couldn’t turn away!
Nazarea Andrews has a jackpot of a book in this new adult novel with two adorbs characters, Avery and Atticus, both of whom have had troubled relationships in their pasts and maybe have a hard time trusting others now because of it. They felt relatable to me. Like, I totally got them, I got why they felt they way they did all the time. I understood them, I walked in their shoes. It’s tough to make readers feel that connected, but Andrews does it very well.
I think the thing I loved about Avery was that she is this strong girl/woman, on the brink of the rest of her life, and she is uncompromising. She knows what she wants, and she goes after those things, but at the same time, I think it’s hard for her to admit that she might be wrong, she might jump to conclusions and she’s definitely afraid of admitting to being afraid. But she has these ambitions and this drive to be great and no one is getting in the way of that. Not. Even. A. Hot. As. Fuck. Guy.
And boy is Atticus HAWT. He’s the professor you daydream about, the one you want to rip the clothes from, the one you think about seducing behind the closed door of his office while you sweep student papers from his desk. He strikes me as the kind of guy who’s always been a dreamer, but teaches to get himself by so he can do the things he desires, like chase pirates and research legends. And it’s not that he doesn’t like teaching, or even needs to do it, but I think it’s also something to keep him fulfilled.
I cannot express how much I really just loved This Love and Atticus + Avery. These two are so explosive together, that I spent the first half of the novel twisting my fingers and curling my toes, waiting for them to get a move on already, because I needed that…that explosion of the two of them together. I wanted to see them work, because they felt so damn good together. The potential scandal of it all, you know, professor/student relationships, that also tickled my fancy, because it’s like they are doomed from the beginning anyway, and that made me want to see them make it even more.
The plot is really simple and I liked that. I’m not going to rehash it, because you can get it from the synopsis, but I will tell you that Nazarea Andrews does a fabulous job on selling her characters and making them all feel real. This is a New Adult, and I think that genre sometimes don’t feel real, like people in real life don’t really talk like that or do those things, but in This Love, it’s all very genuine and I had no problems getting lost in the story and rooting for the characters she made me love.
I loved This Love 100%, I read it in one night. And Nazarea Andrews is now on my auto-buy list.

Avery needs two thousand dollars and is in trouble. Her dad wants her to come to home for the summer and help her sister. Her sister knows her better and wants her to come to Jamaica for her wedding to the guy Avery has no clue existed until it was sprung on her. She needs a job asap as she wants to please her sister, despite knowing that her family doesn’t completely understand the reasons why she stays away from her hometown.
Avery bites her tongue and finds a job as an assistant to a professor who tempts her in all the wrong ways. Atticus, the professor, had a rough end to the semester. He discovered his wife Nikki cheated on him because she was bored when he came home to more than he expected finding her in bed with someone else. Moving into his friend Dane’s apartment, he worried. He needs to find a new research assistant since Nikki was the assistant and he does not want anything to do with her. So during one night of drunken fun, Dane posts an ad for him and he discovers the beautiful Avery who tempts him from the get-go and he hires her on the spot.
Avery is only in it for the money and starts applying for graduate school. She’s a strong woman who knows what she wants and the reaction to Atticus is mutual but she is careful. She managed to make it to the last year of college without having problems that would mess with her goals and this situation with Avery throws her a curveball and brings up memories of a past relationship that has haunted her for a number of years. It’s the reason why she hasn’t gone home and has mostly kept to her friends … friends that tell her to go for it as they know she needs someone to get over the past completely.
What starts as an innocent job is turning into a hot and steamy attraction that threatens to overtake their professional relationship and turn it into a personal one. The haunting reminder of their past relationships bring trouble and the issue of trust threatens to derail their relationship before it even begins. Add to the problem the fact that the people in Atticus’s life won’t let him get to know Avery as they are worried for him.
This naughty NA from Nazarea Andrew hit the mark for the overused cliché teacher/student romance, while technically not because Avery is not directly a student of his. It will leave you having dreams about a professor who is sweet and adorable and goes for what he wants. This book will surprise you if you aren’t prepared. Get ready for a summer at the University of Branton where things are really heating up.
My only regret with this book is that I didn’t read it in one night. I wasn’t in the mood to read and put it down for the night instead of following it avidly. It was the right pick-me-up for me as it was a NA that had a sexual undertone more expected in the Contemporary MF.

This Love by author Nazarea Andrews is her first novel in the ever exciting “New Adult” category. It’s a quick read, told in alternating view points between two characters who are trying to escape their pasts.
This Love is about a forbidden romance between a college student and a professor and what happens during one summer when the two work together on a research project. Atticus doesn't want anyone’s help in completing his research but he knows he needs it. He’s a professor in the history department and is dealing with a bad break up. Throughout the novel we find out exactly what happened between him and his ex and the emotional scars that he’s afflicted with.
Avery is looking for a part-time summer job to help pay for a ticket to her sisters destination wedding. When she comes across an ad for a research assistant she calls and sets up a meeting with the professor. She’s dealing with emotional pain from the past and wants nothing more but to stay away from home, heal and move on.
The two are hurting; the wounds are deep and any attraction the two develop must be buried for each other’s sake.
One of the things I loved about this title, as it’s always a HUGE draw for me in books, was the alternating points of view. Atticus and Avery are both dealing with the issues from their past, they both have scars that run deep and when dealing with characters who are hurting emotionally it makes the story whole to hear the thoughts of each instead of just focusing on one character. As a reader I needed to hear both sides for an understanding of actions and emotions and Andrews provided the readers with understanding by the page full from beginning to end.
The characters and sub characters all have layers to them that make them more than just broken people in a story; it makes them extremely interesting and real. I wanted to find out what made each and every one of them tick, to find out exactly which parts were broken and to watch them try to rebuild again, to heal.
This Love is one of those books that I didn't want to end. I enjoyed the writing, the plot, the characters, setting and the dual points of view. I pretty much devoured this title in one sitting, it’s that good, it’s that quick to read, and it’s that absorbing.
Andrews writes realistic female and male characters in one of my favorite categories – “New Adult” and seeing as this is the beginning of a new series I’m thrilled to read more set in this world. I’m looking forward to reading about new characters and to see what this authors writes next. I highly recommend this title to anyone who loves “New Adult” (Or are looking to give the category a try!) and a great contemporary tale with two broken characters and forbidden love. Happy Reading!

I really enjoyed this story between Avery and Atticus. I have to say the synopsis didn't really do it justice. This more than to people finding each other. There's a whole forbidden element mixed with their baggage that really pulls you in. This book reminded me a lot of Gabriel's Inferno, which is probably my #1 book of the romance genre. So that's a great thing but it also makes it hard for not to pull comparisons along the way. However, the similarities don't run too deep and the books are different enough to make it possible to enjoy This Love on its own.
I cannot say enough about Atticus. Holy. shit. First of all, I love the reference to To Kill a Mockingbird. So great. Anyways, Atticus is just sex on a stick. His commanding presence in the bedroom, his slow seduction of Avery and his alpha tendencies are all enough to make my lady parts tingle. Atticus definitely wins a spot in my book boyfriend list. Be still my uterus.
Oh God- and the way he loves her!! You know what Avery, you don't deserve Atticus. Seriously. I totally got that Avery had her own baggage but even after it all came out I just thought she was being ridiculous. Take a chance woman- grow a pair and take what you want and stop crying!
This is where I really struggled. Atticus did everything right. He walked into their relationship with eyes wide open. He knew it was going to be tough but he wanted what he wanted. And when he knew that Avery was enough for him he would stop at nothing. But Avery at every turn was just debby downer. Take a chance woman!!
Also I didn't love how her life just seemed to stop. She was a shitty friend and didn't even look at her grad school letters. Snap out of it chick! Either go get what you want or quit your whining.
Overall, I really did like the story line. Even though Avery got on my nerves through the 2nd half, I was still rooting for them as a couple. You get a little but of the other characters in there but not too much. And I don't think this was a bad thing. Really the focus was Atticus and Avery and that was perfect.

Well, what can I say about Atticus....yum yum yum! Which one of us hasn't had a crush on a professor through all of our years of school? And the whole brooding personality thing, there is just something about it that makes girls want to crack that shell and see him smile I think.
I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me of Gabriel's Inferno just in the sense of the whole professor/student thing, but for me, I enjoyed this one just a little more, I don't know what it was about it, the characters, or plot or whatever, but I just thought it was just that little bit better.
Avery is a few years younger than Atticus, but I didn't find that she was naive about a whole lot, she was very determined at what she wanted, and that nothing was going to stand in her way of getting it, even if that person was Atticus. They both come in to this situation with baggage, and they are not exactly open about it, which could jeopardise their relationship even before it starts.
I found the character building to be really well done, both Avery and Atticus have things to learn, such as trust, and getting over what ever had happened in the past, and there was no rushing in the book in regards to this, it was not insta-love, and then everything was perfect, and it was really good to see. There are people in each of their lives that are trying to keep them apart and telling them that they are making a big mistake, and I wanted to strangle them sometimes, I understand that they are looking out for their friends, but there is a line that you just don't cross, you express your concerns, and then you have to let them make their own choices, even if they are bad ones, and just be there for them in the end.
I am going to give this book a 5/5 and would highly suggest it if you are interested in the NA genre, and it sounds good to you, and I am eagerly anticipating the next book, I think it is going to be just as good as this one!

Atticus has been a mess since he left his wife for cheating on him. He's currently living with his friend and isn't getting much work done. His roommate decides to put out a "help wanted" call in the local paper and pretty soon Atticus finds himself hiring Avery to help him organize all of his research information. The attraction is instantaneous but they both know it'd be a bad idea considering that he's a professor at her college.
This is a sexy forbidden love story. There isn't too much that really takes place in the way of drama. You know that the second the story starts that they will come across some hiccups in their relationship. Not everyone is going to approve of the relationship and their past will come back to bite them. However, knowing this ahead of time didn't detract from the story for me. I enjoyed every minute of Avery and Atticus' sexy love affair.
I've never read anything by Nazarea but I will definitely be looking for #2 in the series. I like that the author tells you about the couples day to day life but it never gets boring. I liked watching them interact with each other both in private and while out and about. Plus, the author takes the readers on a vacation to Jamaica, so the background isn't always the same. Now if you are looking for an extreme detailed book, than this isn't for you. The author didn't weight the book down with details like the clothes that the characters wore every day or whether the sun was shining when they walked outside. She focused more on their relationship, and I really enjoyed that. I had when a story gets bogged down with all the miniscule details.
Like I said, I will definitely be continuing this series. I'm thinking that Atticus' and Avery's roommates will be next in line but we will have to wait and see.
This is a sexy forbidden love story. There isn't too much that really takes place in the way of drama. You know that the second the story starts that they will come across some hiccups in their relationship. Not everyone is going to approve of the relationship and their past will come back to bite them. However, knowing this ahead of time didn't detract from the story for me. I enjoyed every minute of Avery and Atticus' sexy love affair.
I've never read anything by Nazarea but I will definitely be looking for #2 in the series. I like that the author tells you about the couples day to day life but it never gets boring. I liked watching them interact with each other both in private and while out and about. Plus, the author takes the readers on a vacation to Jamaica, so the background isn't always the same. Now if you are looking for an extreme detailed book, than this isn't for you. The author didn't weight the book down with details like the clothes that the characters wore every day or whether the sun was shining when they walked outside. She focused more on their relationship, and I really enjoyed that. I had when a story gets bogged down with all the miniscule details.
Like I said, I will definitely be continuing this series. I'm thinking that Atticus' and Avery's roommates will be next in line but we will have to wait and see.

What a refreshing read this was was! Avery Emili needs two grand to get to Jamaica to be there for her sister’s wedding. Atticus Grimes needs a research assistant. Easy right? He’s a professor. She’s a student. Wrong. Both feel a strong connection, but their past keeps them from each other. Both have been hurt beyond words and falling in love is not an option. Well, at least that’s what they think.
Atticus Grimes. Be still my beating heart. This is the professor I wish I had in college during my lectures! He is young, hot, and intelligent. I loved loved his character. Avery was a strong female character. I truly enjoyed the story because of her. This was not your average student and professor story. It is way more than that. A lot deeper.
The character development in this story was great. You felt the electricity between Atticus and Avery in every scene. I found myself, rooting for them since the beginning.
I enjoyed that the plot was simple which allowed the reader to truly be enveloped in their story. You felt their struggle of not wanting to fall in love.
I enjoyed reading the story of Atticus an Avery, they were relatable and I felt their connection on every page. I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a tension filled new adult read that is fun and sexy. I hope that we are given more Atticus and Avery in the future.

A good romance read, perfect for summer. I am a fan of Nazarea Andrews, her books are really special to me, so when an opportunity to review University of Branton presented itself, I took it. This love is the first book in the series and it is a love story of a college student Avery, who was left at the altar a few years back, and Atticus, a college professor who is in the middle of a divorce because his wife cheatde on him. They meet when Avery calls for an ad Atticus s best friend left for him and sparks fly. There is a lot of chemistry between these two and at first they were resiting it but when they let go, they are great together. As always, nothing can last forever and there are problems on the horizon for the couple.
I liked the both. Avery was trying really hard to overcome her trust issues and to forget about the past and Atticus was also trying to deal with his problems with trust and women. I didnt like it when he havent told Avery the truth and that he waited instead of ran after her but I liked how these two fit together.

He reminds of me Prof. Emerson in Gabriel's Inferno though he's younger. He's a professor who needed an assistant to help him with his research and a distraction from his failed marriage.
She, on the other hand, needed a summer job to fund her trip to her sister's wedding in Jamaica, a place that she escaped from.
Atticus and Avery. Professor and student. He may be older but both of them have already had their fair share of heartaches that almost kept them from giving in to how they really felt for each other. How can something so wrong feel so right for these two? Right or wrong, I fell in love with their story. I fully understand why and how both of them fought their feelings for each other in the beginning and why and how both of them were willing to lose everything to have each other in the end (particularly Atticus). You simply don't let go of a love like that because finding it is as difficult as being hit by lightning at the same place twice.
Good thing it's a quick read for me because I couldn't put it down the moment I started reading it. I'm looking forward to book two in October this year.

First off: Atticus is the perfect balance between respectable and bad boy. He's the bad boy after he's all grown up and gets a real job and takes it seriously and has matured into a responsible but still totally hot mess of trouble and fantasy.
Secondly, I really liked Avery. I really liked her baggage, and I really liked that she worked through it and stood up for herself.
Thirdly: Dane made a fantastic secondary character, and so did Kelly, and actually, so did Avery's adviser who we saw for all of two pages but I kind of loved anyway and cannot tell you why. What I'm trying to say here, is that Ms. Andrews rounds out her cast of characters with engaging personalities, even in the secondary and tertiary slots.
Fourthly: Voice. I Loved The Voice in this Novel. I think Andrews and Contemporary, sexy romance is the winningest combination.
And Finally: Holy buckets. Because the sexy times? They are REALLY sexy.
