Goldoni is to Venice, what Shakespeare is to Stratford-upon-Avon?! He wrote in Venexiano...Venetian dialect..very much his own man. This biographical study encapsulates the man and his world in one of the greatest cities on the face of the earth. If you grasp Goldoni, you'll grasp the very shirt-tails & carnival masks of eighteenth century Venice.
