I’d been in love with Jason Dorsey since forever, but he didn’t even know I existed, except as Nell’s awkward friend.
It made me tough, he said. It was for my own good, he said. He was right, in a way, though; it did make me tough.
No tackle would ever hurt as much as his fists.
“Who you are is who you are, because of what you go through. I like who you are. i want to help you. I want you to tell me things. I want you to trust me.”
“I wouldn’t give you up for anything.”
My motivation in life was to be a good enough man for her, worthy of her awesomeness.
“It’s my highest duty in life to take care of you, protect you.”
“I love you,” he whispered. “I love you so much,....”
How am I supposed to breathe when you're so beautiful?
I’d been in love with Jason Dorsey since forever, but he didn’t even know I existed, except as Nell’s awkward friend.
"Did you mean it less because you stuttered a little bit?"
"No! I mean it so much. I love you, Jason."
“No, Becca. When I kissed you in the parking lot at school, that was my first kiss.”
She seemed relieved for some reason. “Mine, too.”
“And no, I haven’t done anything else with anyone. Everything with you is a first for me.”
"The only way past the pain is through it. You can't escape it. You can't ignore it. Pain, grief, anger, misery... they don't go away - they just increase and compound and get worse. You have to live through them, acknowledge them. You have to give your pain its due."
"I wasn't sure where we were or where we were going or what time it was, and I didn't care. I turned my head and met his eyes, and then, with a deep breath, slid my hand underneath his. His eyes widened and his breath hitched, but he didn't hesitate to wind his fingers between mine. He smiled, and everything was better than fine."
"You'd never think it, but my quiet, hyper-intelligent, overachieving, rule-following girlfriend was a voracious, insatiable lover."
"What if... what if I turn into him? What if I am like him?"
"My motivation in life was to be a good enough man for her, worthy of her awesomeness."

"I think I wrote poetry because its a way for me to be coherent. Eloquent. I have to work to speak clearly. Every single sentence I speak takes effort not to stutter. Poetry? It's just Effortless."Becca had style. She was clever, passionate and raw. I loved her. Her faithful, gentle heart, was to endure difficult heartaches in Falling Into Us, and given the number of years the story thankfully encompassed, you will watch her grow, mature and thrive. She needed to break free from the oppressive parental shackles that held her captive, in more ways than one. She needed to identify what defined her, and what did not.
