The love Melissa feels for Charles is somewhat overpowering for her as that love was not returned. But she feels something for him when she meets him as a young girl. She feels that there is just something about him that makes him wonderful and being near him makes her feel happy. In a way this is shalkerish but not really as she is trying to understand this feeling.
