Emma the sparrow has trouble finding her cousin in Paris because of language difficulties. When they finally meet up, they put on a show together and become the best of friends.

A wonderful combination of actual photos of Paris combined with drawings of the sparrow cousins and their other friends.

Cute, clever idea. The story failed to grab me, alas, but it's worth a look for the illustrations if you love Paris.

A sparrow named Emma goes to visit her friend in Paris. Emma practices her French while learning about the day-to-day life of Parisians. The photographs are overlaid with delightful illustrations of Emma and her friends, giving this story a nice play between reality and fiction.

The illustrations are a fascinating collage of photograph of Parisian scenes, with the animal characters layered over. Might be fun to compare with Knufflebunny.

Photographs of Paris provide the background for Emma's adventures. The little blue bird befriends a cat who helps her find her cousin Amelie and together they have all sorts of adventures. The animal cast is drawn by Frossard in cartoon style -- a bit reminiscent of Richard Scarry's style animals.

Photographer Christophe Urbain is also from France.

Emma in Paris is kind of a new picture. It is creative, which combine the painting with the real picture. This book is about a bird named Emma travels from New York City to Paris. Once she arrives, she wanders around the city lost until a cat helps her. The dialog has a dated, stilted feel. The artwork is photographs of Paris with drawings of characters and whimsical elements. I mainly liked this for the real pictures of the city. I feel like the book was not did not have a story/plot but was more an introduction to a location with a few characters. There are more words/page and it's longer than I like in a picture book. However, it may work well with older kids with larger attention spans. Would recommend for families taking a trip to Paris, or for those with a learning theme on new locations and cities.

The illustrations are super cute. The story is way too long and complicated for most little ones but the tale hits on some interesting sites in Paris and would be a great family read-aloud if learning about other countries.

Might I suggest checking out at your local library a DVD series called Little Travelers, totally the best way to feel like your visiting another country.

J'aime Paris! But about this book, c'est ne pas amusant. And I really don't like that the author had Emma add her lock to Pont Des Arts.

About the illustrations, I did not like the drawings, but I loved the photographs. Because, of course, j'aime Paris!

Very cute illustrations on photos of a little pigeon visiting her cousin in gay Paris. A smattering of very basic French serves as an introduction to a foreign language for little English-speakers.

Very unusual illustrative style and a chance to learn some basic French words. Abrupt ending threw me off.
