This is book of wondrous things. I feel like Julie Andrews should be singing about them while Vontrap kids watch on enthralled.
It investigates and pays homage to the many objects that have played a part in in cinematic history.
From Dorothy's Ruby Red (Once Silver) Heels
To the One Ring and many inbetween.
Reading this book brings out all the objects in your film watching life, that have left a mark on you.
By the end of reading this I dare you not to have your own list. I certainly have mine.
Scott had expertally broken down the objects meaning, there ability to move a plot forward and ultimately shape a film.

A perfect list is one for which you have many suggestions ("How could he not include..?") but you can't figure which entries to drop to accommodate your choices.
Scott Jordan Harris does a wonderful inventory of world cinema's 50 most evocative objects and leaves us with that dilemma - of wanting to add your own objects but unable to drop any object from the list.
Marilyn Monroe's billowing dress and Khartoum's severed head are some of the entries that are in the book for their indelible impact on cinegoers' minds. And the other 48 are just as impactful.
To paraphrase a line from a classic (and this book), Rosebud Sleds... is a book "stuff movie dreams are made of".
Two entries from India - woo hoo!
