Masquerade ball

This short story is back to they way Ms Aston writes her stories. Our favorite Darcy's are in the story but in the background. This story is about there cousin Serifina Darcy and she has been jilted by a man she thought she loved and who she thought loved her. A year later she finds herself at the same ball that she was jilted at. The story leads up to this event and we hear from new characters but we also see snipits of D and E. And just to make things interesting Miss Carol

Mr. Darcy’s Masquerade(2014) by Elizabeth Aston is the third novella from Aston’s Darcy Novellas series. The Darcy Novellas series occurs a few years before Aston’s seven-book Darcy Series, which starts with the 368-page Mr. Darcy’s Daughters(2003). The eldest two of the five Darcy daughters are in all four of the Darcy Novellas(about 75 pages each). The novels and novellas mentioned above are all sequels to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Good Start with Silly Ending

The beginning of the book starts okay. Unlike many of her other books, Aston incorporates Darcy and Elizabeth in the story, particularly in the middle, which I enjoyed. Then at the end, the story comes to a sudden, screeching and ridiculous ending, though some people looking for nothing but romance might like it. I found it singularly unbelievable.

Mr. Darcy's Masquerade: ( A Darcy Novella Book 3 )

Great story focussing on Darcy's cousin from his Uncle Henry Darcy. Serafina Darcy was betrothed to young Ranulph Latymer. The night of the ball that would announce their betrothal, was a betrayal instead. Randolph was taken with Julia Congreve the moment he saw her. Both these families lived near other and for years over a debate about property lines where the estates touched were at odds. Ranulph's friend, Marcus Talbot, helped the two

This short novella was not nearly as good as the previous two. The instant resolution at the end came across as contrived. More time needed to be spent developing the romance for it to come across as believable.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future
Really a short story

I found it a pleasant quick read. Although I knew how the story would end after a few pages I enjoyed it. I believe the character s were interesting enough to have created a novel. My only objection was using the Darcys. I am so tired of people feeding off the work of our Jane

I’m the daughter of two Jane Austen addicts, who decided to call me after a character from one of Jane Austen’s novels. So it’s no wonder that I also became a passionate Jane Austen fan.

Elizabeth Aston is a pen name (it's actually my married name). I first wrote under the name Elizabeth Pewsey, and now Attica Books are reissuing those novels as ebooks under my Aston name.

I've also published several boo
