Fiction Text: Angela's Airplane
The non-fiction text explores airplanes in a child friendly way. It goes through airplanes of the past and possible airplanes of the future. Throughout the text there are many vocabulary words and diagrams of various different types of airplanes. I would pair this with Angela's Airplane by Robert Munsch. In this book, while looking for her lost father at the airport, Angela ends up in the front of the plane. She decides to push just one button, and then another until she ends up taking off with the airplane. The nonfiction text will help provide background on airplanes, as well as illustrate some of the different types of airplanes in the nonfiction text (ex: F-16). It is a comical book grounded with correct information as noted in the nonfiction text.
