Danger runs high and passions burn hot in Montana's wild country

Big-city detective Bentley Jamison is a long way from home in the Beartooth wilderness when one of local rancher Maddie Conner's ranch hands goes missing. Towering mountains and a small, tight community are as unfamiliar to Jamison as herding sheep, but he's never shied away from a challenge. As the new deputy

New deputy sheriff Bentley Jamison has to tell prickly sheep rancher Maddie Connor that one of her ranch hands is missing. Unfortunately, it's her shepherd who took the entire flock into the mountains to graze. When she and Bentley go searching them, things get dicey and dangerous. Meanwhile, Sheriff Frank Curry's ex-wife takes things to a new low while Nettie Benton, growing weary of waiting on him, has her head turned when former bad boy J. D. West comes back to town.

I had a hard time putting
Good book with three storylines. There is the developing romance between Jamison and Maddie, the drug runners trying to recover their drugs, and the sheriff's ongoing problems with his ex-wife. The romance was at times intense, but also believable as Jamison and Maddie have to let go of their pasts and learn to trust each other. The drug runners are determined to recover their loot but, not knowing the Montana wilderness, need to get some help without giving away their reasons. And Sheriff Frank ...more

A fan of the Beartooth, Montana series from day one I again was beyond happy to have a chance to read the third installment, FORSAKEN before its release date. FORSAKEN by the ultra gifted B.J. Daniels grabs the reader's attention from the first paragraph with her knack for suspense and keeps the reader enveloped in her mystery until the very end.

Bentley Jamison is the new kid on the block. The handsome lawyer from back East comes to the West as Deputy Sheriff for the town. Sheriff Frank Curry is

Forsaken is #3 in the Beartooth, Montana Saga and it is a good one.

The writing in Forsaken is crisp and clean. The two main characters (Bentley Jamison and Maddie Conner) are people you care about and their interaction adds to the story. The plot is well developed. The tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife. The book is told from several viewpoints and features several different characters. Each of the side characters have an important part and keep the plot moving. Each scene ramps up

Wow I must say as I was reading this book is just what the doctor ordered as the saying goes because this one is filled with much more than it seems when you first start it. Being a reader of her books and others like this genre I started it with anticipation because of enjoyment of suspense in a story line. Having read Unforgiven was for familiar with setting it takes place and as reading a few of the characters. Two roads in one is where this takes you as you read. Each one you travel on being ...more

Forsaken basically has three different plot lines going. The main one is good. That has the new Deputy Bentley Jamison from New York answers a call about something is wrong at Maddie Conner's Sheep camp up in the high County.

Maddie's tender a young man has come down from the sheep camp in terror. He is covered with blood, in shock saying that her Long time Shepard is missing. No one is watching her sheep.
So Bentley and Maddie head up the mountain on horseback to find wh

My Booklist review:

Daniels’ third Beartooth Mountains book entwines two concurrent stories set in Montana outside the boundary of Yellowstone Park. In one, former New York City homicide detective Bentley Jamison, now a sheriff’s deputy, is called to the sheep ranch of Maddie Conner when her sheepherder’s teenage assistant returns to the ranch covered with blood and babbling about aliens in the mountains. When Maddie and Bentley ask where the sheepherder is and if the older man is hurt, the teen

You cant go wrong, picking up a Bj Daniels book, she did it again.

Forsaken-her next book in the Beartooth Mountains series.

She captivates you in the beginning as she describes its beauty and you understand why Montana is known as The Big Sky!

Forsaken is one of her best novels. With each book she leaves you anxiously waiting for the next one!

Her Western Suspense romantic story's grabs you in the beginning and sweeps you off your feet.

As the story unravels, with Maddie and bentley , the deput

This is book 3 in the Beartooth, Montana series. I have not read the first two but I did not feel like I had missed anything or needed to know details from the previous books.

The main romance between sheep rancher Maddie and new deputy Bentley was refreshing to read. They are both in their mid-40s and managed to act like adults. I get tired of books with mature characters who are written like NA characters. Bentley sees Maddie's strength and iron will to take care of her people and sheep, and al

Oh my, what a great romance, mystery and suspense writer B.J. Daniels is and this book goes to show her talents. Something has happened in the Beartooth Mountains where her sheep were taken for the summer and Deputy Jamison along with sheep rancher Madrid Conner are going to find out what. Jamison thinks he knows why young Dewey came running out of the mountains covered in blood and scared to death. The only story the Deputy could get out of him was about a strange crying, a spaceship and that t ...more

As a native Montanan I love reading novels set in my beautiful home state that capture both the independent spirit of the inhabitants and the rugged setting. B.J. Daniels is one of my favorite authors because her books do both beautifully!

Forsaken is the third in her Beartooth series. If you haven't already read the two previous books in the series, "Unforgiven" and "Redemption", don't feel as though you absolutely have to read them before picking up "Forsaken." Daniels does an excellent job of

FORSAKEN is the third book in B.J. Daniels’ Beartooth Mountain series. The fact that I’d not read the previous two books did not affect my enjoyment of this book.

This book was actually a departure from my normal genres though I have read a few western romances in the past. However, this was so much more than a western romance.
It is a combination of a romantic mystery with such gripping intrigue that I couldn’t sleep until I finished it. It grabbed me from the 1st few paragraphs and never let go.

What I enjoy about B.J. Daniels romantic suspense is how well she captures the contemporary West. As someone who lives in Montana, part of why I return to her books is that the Montana landscape -- the mountains, the rivers, the wildlife -- becomes another character in the storytelling and it feels so familiar. The story cannot be told the same way without it. In Forsaken, the heroine Maddie Connor is a ranch woman who presents a tough exterior to the world, but who is really just a grieving wom ...more

Another home run!!

B.J. Can write several stories lines within a book and tie them all up like a neat bow, yet still leaving some part of the mystery uncovered. I have to say I was hooked immediately in chapter 1. We had the introduction to the new characters of Bentley Jamison and Maddie Conner, while bringing back many of the characters from the previous books in mini story lines. These all intertwine and have something to do with the main story line. If you haven't read any of the previous boo

I received this book free from Goodreads First Read.

Once I read the first page, I could not put this book down. I loved all of the twists and turns that the story contained and found myself feeling what the characters were suppose to be feeling. Bentley and Maddie both went up the mountain for the same but different purposes. His to prove a crime was committed, hers to protect her sheep and find her lost sheepherder. What they find are more questions than answers and discover a mutual respect fo

I have mixed feelings about this book. First, I enjoyed the setting of the story since we traveled to this area of the country a couple years ago, but I had a difficult time imagining how everyone in the story could get around on horseback or by foot in the area so quickly. This area is VAST.
Secondly, there are 3 romantic couples in the book: Maddie and Jamison, Bethany and Clete, and Frank and Lynette/Nettie. But by the end of the book, I didn't feel like the "loose ends" were completely tie

If you love cowboys you will love this one. A romantic suspense that is packed with twist and turns on every page.
First off thank you to B. J. Daniels for letting me be a part of the review team with an advanced copy of Forsaken.
It never fails to amaze me how much she can pack into one book and Forsaken did not disappoint, I started this book just two days ago and hated to put it down.

This was probably my favorite book of B.J.'s and that's saying a lot as I've probably read all of her books! She just seems to be getting better with every book! Her characters are written so well and her storylines keep you coming back for more. The only criticism I have is that the books are far apart! I want them closer together because it's hard to wait to find out what is happening to characters that are left "hanging"! This book has a main storyline of Maddie and Bentley but also has other ...more

I must first say this is the first book I have read by B.J.Daniels. I read this as a stand alone book, even though it was #3 in a series. With that being said, I must say I will be reading more books by BJ in the future. This is a romanic western suspense which takes place in the Beartooth mountains area in Montana. Wasn't sure I would like this book, however it is written with intertwining story lines, and the beautiful details of the Montana landscape. It was like being in Montana again. I fou ...more

This is the third book in the Beartooth Mountain series, but it stands alone quite well. It is a blending of two stories, both taking place in the Montana countryside. Ms. Daniels expertly weaves the two stories together into a great read. This is a great contemporary suspense with enough thrills and chills to keep you jumping and is well plotted enough to keep you guessing. Her characters are strong enough to make you care about them over and beyond the mystery.

More Thrills From Beartooth MT Courtesy of BJ Daniels

I was on the edge of my seat from page one. The first chapter gets your attention and you won’t be able to put the book down. Bentley Jamison is a delightful surprise, city boy humbled by the Beartooth Mountains, also by the strength found in Maddie Conner, hardy down home ranch woman, let the mayhem ensue. Will they solve a mystery and get out of the Montana wilderness alive? I’m not telling. “Forsaken” has three of my favorite things suspens

"This is a well-written, western-themed romantic suspense novel that will keep readers guessing throughout. If you like the TV show and book series Longmire, only with a tiny bit more romasnce, this is definitely the book for you. The characters are solid and immediately relatable, and the suspense keeps the story rolling at a steady clip. There are other books in this series set in the cozy - and sometimes intriguing - town of Beartooth, Mont., but they can all be read as stand-alones." RT Book ...more

I love love thisy book! It was full of suspense and adventure, B.J. didn't disappoint me at all, I couldn't put the book down so it was a pretty late evening for me but it was sure worth it! I love the way she multi-layer her character through out the book and you fall in love with her characters, finally one of my favorite couple expressed how he feels after so many years. I like how she got Maddie and Jamieson together. I love the town of Beartooth, Montana, love to see the state of Montana on ...more

I won this on GoodReads about a month ago.
I don't usually read Harlequin books any because I have gotten sick of reading them after reading them for so many years but this book sounded good so I decided to give it a chance.

Just like any other romance books like these the story was predictable but the story is very well written and I actually very much enjoyed it.

If you are into this genre of books I think you will enjoy this book.

This book was disappointing. B J Daniels was a new author for me, but I'd read for months what a great book this was, so I purchased it with high hopes. It was a pretty good book, but nothing stood out for me as being outstanding. It was a little light on the romance, as the two main characters didn't seem to consider each other romantically until the book was about 2/3 complete. The mystery was good, but fairly predictable.

Maddie is a sheep farmer, who has recently found out some bad things may have happened up in the mountains with her ranchhands. She goes up in the mountains with the new deputy Bentley Jameison to find out what happened. What they don't realize is that danger lurks in the mountains.

I really enjoyed and would reccomend others read it.

I didn't know what to think going into this one. Having a widow for a main character was unusual, to say the least, but I really enjoyed the dynamic between her an Bentley. I could read B.J. Daniels' books all day and still not get enough. A unique plot, ripped from the headlines, a mystery that keeps unfolding, and another great couple.
