Well one of the first things I learned their is surfing on the great lakes. The story drew me into caring for Emily right away. I was getting angry with her father not believing in her.

Good Plot, likeable characters, drama, action, suspense and good information about search and rescue. Makes me want to go and read more of Colleen Coble and Robin Caroll's work. This is aimed for middle school readers, but others would like it too.

Rock Harbor
Search and Rescue

Rock Harbor is the destination of tourists and surfers and it is Emily O'Reilly's home. But when a valuable necklace is stolen at the Annual Fall Festival and it is replaced with a copy that Emily made Rock Harbor doesn't seem too friendly anymore.

Suspicion places its eyes firmly on Emily and hardly anyone believes her, including her own father! To make matters worse, her father insists that the money Emily earned at the festival be gi

There were a lot of things I liked about this book, though, as in all things, some bits I didn't quite agree with.

It was neat to see in the world of search and rescue, something I've never given much thought of. It was very interesting, and seems like something that would be really fun, and fulfilling to be a part of.

I've never read Mrs. Coble's Rock Harbor series, so I wasn't familiar with the setting, or the characters. Even so, I found myself drawn into the story, caring about the character

I've read a lot of books by Colleen Coble (including her adult Rock Harbor series - she's one of my favorite authors) and also some of Robin Caroll's books, so I was really excited when I heard about Rock Harbor Search & Rescue!

The characters were nice and my favorites were Bree and the SAR dogs (yes, I count them as characters). I did get a little annoyed with Emily's dad whe

The main character in this book, Emily O'Reilly is longing for a puppy of her own. When the Ms. Dancers Sapphire Beauty necklace goes missing all fingers point at Emily, since she was 'watching' Ms.Dancers jewelry booth. With the necklace missing, Emily doesn't get her puppy. To make matters worse many of the kids at her school, the sherif, and even her own parents think she stole the necklace. Emily has to find a way to prove herself innocent. I really enjoyed reading this book and I think man ...more

Really great, nicely balanced story. Just a good average kid, with some unusual events in the background. I liked that, because so many stories these days seem to go for the extraordinary (as in terrible background, terrible abuse, horror. Glad this is a good decent family, and not perfect, but loving.) Loved the dogs as always. Great start to a good middle school reading book series. I hope they write many more.

I love big furry creatures, and dogs rank high up on the list of my favorite animals. It was an absolute joy to read about Search & Rescue and to see Emily's passion for the job. The story opens in the midst of a search, allowing us to get to know key people in Emily's life and how much she values the job. I love how Emily is a strong character in that she stands up for herself without going so far as to get into trouble that she can't handle despite her insistence on clearing her own name. ...more

Rock Harbor Search & Rescue (Book 1) by Colleen Coble and Robin Caroll

When two great Christian authors come together to write a novel, you know it’s got to be good. And this book is no exception. Colleen Coble wrote The Rock Harbor series for adults and it’s an excellent series about a woman-dog search and rescue team. Exciting to the end! And now she’s teamed up with Robin Caroll to write a series for middle school age kids (probably girls will like it better) about the kids in the adult se

While this particular book was based on characters from the Rock Harbor series for adults, I did not have any trouble following the characters in Ms. Coble’s “Search & Rescue.” This was an enjoyable book to read for the targeted to the 8-11 age group, I believe primarily more girls than guys would like this book, simply because the main characters are girls working to solve the mystery of stolen jewelry.

I enjoyed this book and will probably read other books written by Colleen Coble, but ther

Finally a series of great novels for middle school age teens! Colleen Coble has been a favorite author of mine since reading the first of many books that followed and now, just in time she and author Robin Caroll have teamed together to bring you the first in a series of novels designed for young adults. Rock Harbor Search and Rescue begins the new series and is a great mystery for those of you that love untangling the clues to solve the crime.

The summary of "Rock Harbor Search and Rescue" is admittedly intriguing, for a middle-grade fiction novel, although the book did not become a favorite for me.

Emily O'Reilly is an almost-fourteen-year-old girl living in Michigan, with a passion for dogs in search and rescue work. She volunteers on rescue missions with her stepmom. She even wants to buy her own puppy and start training it for SAR work. Unfortunately, a crime is committed in Rock Harbor, and because Emily was in the wrong place at

This is a book for 8-11 year old girls. Although I do not usually review for this age, I must say that this was an enjoyable read. I have read many of Colleen’s adult fiction novels that are search and rescue involving many of the adults in this story. So it was fun to revisit those characters.

I was able to receive a free copy of Colleen Coble's Rock Harbor Search and Rescue from Netgalley. Having read her other series "The Land of the Lonestar" I knew what type of a writer she was. From the beginning of the book you right away meet the main character Emily O'Reilly, her step mom Naomi and their search dog Charlie. They are looking for a lost small dog in the woods. They are easily able to find the small dog to her rightful owner. After that the story takes you to the local festival t ...more

Wow!!! What a mystery! For early teens it is hard core!! I couldn't figure it out until the end. Lovely book! Im so getting it for my niece's 13th Birthday!!!

I was actually pleasantly surprised that the author kept the book strictly to that age-- tight friendships, enormous curiosity, boy crashes, peer pressure from school, relationship with parents.. And so on. Coleen and Robin did incredible job with this book. I cant wait to read the adult version.

What a great teen read. Emily O'Reilly is a sweet, God loving, honor student. She loves her family, which consists of her Dad, her Step-Mom, Olivia, and her brothers Timmy and Matthew.
What a young girl doesn't need is to be accused of a crime she didn't commit. She feels like even her Dad has let her down. She was saving to buy her own search and rescue pup to train. Recently I read "Rock Harbor Search and Rescue," by Christian author Colleen Coble, a mystery written for middle school to pre-teen children.

Emily is the protagonist, a girl in her very early teens who faces the usual ups and downs of a young teenager. Her dream is to get a puppy of her own to train as a search and rescue dog, a dog that will

I was excited to be a part of this blog tour. This new middle school series is right up my youngest daughter's alley. She loves mystery and dogs. This has both. It was very well written. It is not too difficult reading for a younger person but not too easy a read. It is the perfect combination.
