*Sigh* I can sum this book up in one word...Awesome.
Francesca struggles to deal with a loss from her past that still haunts her. She is a young lawyer wanting to further her career and put things behind her. It's hard to do that when Cade Kelling steps back into her life, reminding her of all the pain she's tried to move past.
Cade is not your typical leading man. He's not a bad boy really, but he's not an angel either. He deals with the ghosts of his past with alcohol.
This story will stir

Well, this book was not as juicy as I expected it to be. The description lead me to expect a high drama, passionate, romance novel, but instead I got a mild and generic high-school-sweethearts-who-reconnect story.

Other than the book's lack of luster, there were also some pretty majory problems with the author's concepts:

The timeline was very off: At first Francesca explains that the last time she saw Cade was seven years ago. Then a flashback takes us back nine years ago to when she first met C

Mangled Hearts is the first book I’ve read from Felicia Tatum, and I have to say it’s an incredible read. It’s not all flowers, hearts, and rainbows. It’s real. It’s a book about forgiveness, redemption, addiction, and love. It’s definitely a must read.
Francesca is a lawyer who’s been the ‘goffer’ at her firm. You know the one who does all the leg work but never gets the glory? Well that is until she gets her first client by request. A client who she never thought she see again. A client that s

This was a sweet story of second chance love. I wanted to like it, and thought I would, but it was barely ok for me.

It just screamed Young Adult rather than Contemporary/New Adult while I read. I think I even saw some reviews say it was steamy, when it was no where near steamy, IMO. It was sweet, dialogue very basic and I couldn't get over the way the story was told made visions of rainbows, unicorns and kitties prance around in my head. I usually only get that feeling when told from a narrativ

I was hooked from the first sentence in this book. The character development is utterly amazing, one of the best in a book by far in my opinion. Francesca and Cade will captivate your heart and make you not want to put the book down.

Francesca is the usual girl who works hard to try and better her life but also to get over the hurt that she's suffered in her past. She's been hurt by the one person she never wanted to hurt her. The hurt from him seems to blow up ten times worse than what she'd fee

Mangle: to spoil or ruin something through carelessness or ineptitude

Mangled Hearts is the perfect title for this book. Both the main characters have had their hearts ruined by carelessness or/and ineptitude. Francesca has been haunted by a tragic accident for years and it has affected both her private and professional life. Cade has always seen himself as damaged goods and makes his belief a reality with constant alcohol and drugs. Both seem to li

I never thought I'd get affected while reading this beautiful book. On the first night that I got this book, as I lay on my bed imagining what might have happened between Francesca & Cade in the past, I knew that somehow this past will catch up on them in the future. What I learned about them just sets me crying and sobbing on my pillow. Darn, Felicia Tatum did this to me! Yes, you mad me cry to sleep after reading your book, Ms. Tatum. But don't worry, I'm not mad at you. I was just overwhe ...more

Loved this love story. It was so addictive and yummy. Second chance stories are the best! Francesca and Cade were a couple I could root for because sometimes, it's just all a misunderstanding. I truly love to believe that people have a good heart and this story goes with that theme making it heartwarming yet full of young love frustration. I can't wait to read more!

Mangled Hearts is a wonderful love story with some great angst, leaving you desperate to get to the next page. The story of Cade and Francesca is emotional, heart riveting, and sometimes you just wanna smack them! I loved the history between them and how they worked through a huge road block together.

Additionally, it was refreshing to read a book with no or very little grammatical errors! I don't know what it is lately with th

Felicia has stepped into Romance writing and has hit a HOME RUN!! She has taken 2 peoples lives and told the story from both POV's which is super hard to do and brought this book together for us to enjoy!! When I was done reading this book, I wanted to throw my Tablet across the room because I could not believe that there was no more Francesca and Cade. They are 2 people who were in love in high school but one tragic night will forever change the way that one of them feels forever. Can these 2 t ...more

I loved it!! Ahh, Cade.. haha!!

I love the story and of course, the POVs of both characters!! I love how the author made this book intriguing and the same time easy to read. You can easily follow the story and the timeline.

As I was reading the first few chapters, I was really intrigued what was the reason why Francesca and Cade's issue.. It made you think the possibilities of the issues and it encouraged me to finish the book. And the way the story ends was good and I love how one's love c

This is a great story of second chances.
Cade's a mess in the beginning, coping in some pretty bad ways.
Francesca can't be kept down.
Great story that takes you through addiction and recovery, and best of all love

Mangled Hearts: Francesca and Cade (Scarred Hearts #1) is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The first few chapters of this book had me thinking this was another New Adult novel with immature characters, crying at the drop of a hat over an old high school romance. Well, keep reading because that is not the case at all.

Yes, Cade and Francesca were friends in high school. Cade could see Francesca was a really pretty girl but she had no confidenc

This is a story about old friends who had a feelings for each other but a classic case of boys raging hormones getting in the way. The story starts with Francesca, who is now a lawyer struggling to prove herself in her firm and struggling with her past. Cole...who is just struggling with life. It's clear from the START that he has a serious drinking problem and has for a long time. They haven't spoken in over 7 years and they hook up again when

Mangled Hearts will take you on an emotional journey. Francesca and Cade have a history dating back to high school. A shared tragedy cuts their ties and they go years without seeing one another. Cade’s legal troubles and Francesca’s law degree throw them together once again and force them to face the feelings for each other they buried long ago. The book is written in dual POV and includes flashbacks to their younger days. The glimpse into their youth and the relationship they shared was essenti ...more

This book is truly amazing. The author knows just how to leave you wanting more and executed this book really well.

Francesca Taymon is your typical book worm, nerdy girl who goes through high school unnoticed, unlinked by most and keeps to herself. Once day while waiting for her second bus home, a senior named Cade Kelling approached her and started talking to her. Attraction grew between the two, but neither though they were good enough for the other. After a devastating tragedy occurred in Fra

Having read Felicia Tatum's other series, The White Aura, I knew I had to check out these books. Boy, I'm glad I did. I am a huge fan of second-chance romances so these books were right up my alley. This wasn't you typical book about finding love after so many years apart, this was a story about Cade and his struggle with alcohol and how it plays into everything he does. You see how it has taken over his life and leads to events that resulted in him losing the only girl that he ever loved. It is not just a story but a journey to one mans addiction, bad judgments and the realization that if he wants to be with this girl he needs to heal himself. “He stumbled forward, "Can I mix my baby batter with your eggs?" he slurred trying to reach up and kiss me.
I pushed him off me, yelling, "Get away!"
"Don't touch her," he commanded. His eyes were wide, angry, his voice deep and threatening. He, too, smelled like alcohol, but I didn't care in this moment. He was here getting this creep away from me. His hands held me tightly, pressing my body into his. My breath quickened being so close to Cade. He sensed my distress, giving me a slight squeeze.”
“Well, don't you look lovely," his voice dripped behind me, his breath tickling my ear as his words trickled in my brain.
Turning slowly, I saw him in his usual attire, a white t-shirt and jeans, but he looked incredible. His dark hair appeared darker in the dimmed lighting, his eyes shone with eagerness.
"You're here," I said dumbly. Like he didn't know he was here. I was such an idiot sometimes.
"I am," he said, a sexy smirk showing on one side of his mouth. "Wanna dance?" he asked, his leg shaking nervously, his eyes desperately searching mine for an answer.
I nodded, unable to speak. We'd kised, but only a couple of times. He grabbed me, pulling me to a spot close to where we stood. Warm fingers of one hand circled around my waist, while the others held my had. He pulled me close, every inch of our bodies touching. His eyes never left mine as we swayed and spun. I was lost in all that was Cade Kelling.”
