Sierra Brennan can inherit her great-uncle’s historic Chicago townhouse under one condition: She must live there for thirty consecutive days. What could possibly go wrong? As a writer and a ghost whisperer, Sierra has a vast imagination and a brave spirit. But not even she is prepared for the gorgeous—and naked—vampire who greets her at the door.
OF LIFE AND UN-DEATH
Ronan McCoy has spent the past century waiting to come home…to this house. The presence of the beautiful, brazen Sierra is one complication he doesn’t expect. The other is Hal, a dangerous ghost and original member of Al Capone’s gang who’s dead-set on revenge. What is a formerly indentured vampire supposed to do to get a moment’s peace? All he knows for sure is that he must protect Sierra from Hal. But once he has her in his arms, can he ever let her go? Life—and love—is becoming stranger than fiction for Sierra…and more delicious than she and Ronan could have ever imagined... in Love Your Entity.
“Like a dose of humor with your vampire romance? Cat Devon’s series is for you…Sinfully delicious.”—RT Book Reviews
Cat Devon was a pseudonym for the award-winning author Cathie Linz. A former librarian and confessed bookaholic, she had a weakness for wickedly sexy vampires, imported dark chocolate and decadent cupcakes. She and her family lived in the Chicago area.
I'm still enjoying this series. Each book is about a different character in Vamptown that finds love and realistically you can read these as a standalone, none of the storyline from the previous book is in the next one, only the characters.
Finally! A heroine who behaves as she ought to when encountering a vampire--she shrieks and makes a run for it.
I liked the main character. I especially like that the ghosts shorted out the cameras so the whole book was not as stalker-ish as the last one in the series.
There's still too much insta-love for me to be comfortable and I thought the vampire bond thing was weak but I actually enjoyed this book.
Fourth book is on the way!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Sierra has to stay 30 days in the house in order to claim her inheritance. As soon as she enters the front door, she is greeted by a naked Vampire and a ghost. Ronan is there to free his sister's sould from his Master Vampire who indentured Ronan for a century.
Cute and light read.
Some funny parts (like when Sierra, who can see and speak with ghosts, is flummoxed by the reality of vampires and witches) and some mystery (who killed Hal and Ruby).
I was ok with the heroine but didn't really like Ronan. The whole situation/romance seemed very forced and non-consensual. I didn't really enjoy anything about the book, but I did manage to finish it because I wanted to see how they would deal with the ghosts. Overall, meh.
Five stars for Love Your Entity, a fun and sexy must-read by Cat Devon!
I recently reviewed Cat Devon's holiday novella in her Entity Series, The Entity Who Came for Christmas and mentioned how much I was looking forward to reading book three. Well, Christmas came early this year when her publisher contacted me to offer a copy of book three, Love Your Entity. I no longer had Vamptown vamp withdrawal and was able to curl up with my favorite guys and girls, enjoy some fabulous cupcakes, and luxuriate in scented lotions and soaps. Soon you'll be able to do the same as on New Year's Eve, Love Your Entity will be released. (Suggestion: pre-order it now as it will be a little post-Christmas present for your e-Reader.)
Once again Devon has created a quirky and psychically aware heroine (the first book featured Daniella, a half-Druid cupcake baker, and the second, Zoe, a witch and herbalist). In Love Your Entity, its the turn of bestselling paranormal writer Sierra Brennan, who also sees ghosts. Yes, she's a ghost whisperer. In fact, the first time the door opens to her new home in Vamptown, she sees a lady in a corset and a naked man. But which one is the ghost?
For readers like me, luckily it's the naked man Ronan McCoy (whose quite HOT - oh, I'm overheating from the memory). Ronan is a newly returned vamp to Vamptown. He's trying to reclaim his family home after leaving home for WWI, being turned in the trenches, and remaining in servitude to a Master Vampire for 100 years. And yes, it's the same home that Sierra claims as her legacy.
Ronan has two weeks to find a key that will release his sister's soul and guarantee his freedom forever. Will Sierra triumph and evict Ronan to claim this ghost infested house? Will they learn to live together temporarily or perhaps even permanently? (Remember, I said he was HOT!)
Once again I find myself just giggling and then laughing out loud as Ronan and Sierra try to come to terms with one another. Ronan has to learn about all the 21st century gadgets she carries with her, including her precious coffee maker - as do the ghosts. I was really pleased to see how Tanya, that sexy and conniving vamp tanning shop owner evolved in this book. I'm sure you'll be laughing as hard as I did when she found her new obsession. And I'm not saying who it is!
Knowing that Cat Devon was a former librarian like Zoe, the heroine of her second book, it's really fun that Sierra is a writer of bestselling paranormal romances that seem to be as equally HOT as Devon's. I almost feel like Devon's got us peeking over her own shoulder as she describes Sierra's writing process, and as she (and someone not yet named) develop self-marketing tools so many writers now use, including signed bookmarks and plates, Facebook pages and Street Teams. (And in full disclosure, I'm a recent member of Devon's Street Team, but I promise to always give a fair and honest review for her books.)
The other aspect of this series that I absolutely adore is Vamptown itself. If I ever visit Chicago, I'm really going to look over the neighborhoods very carefully. And if I find myself amongst some really gorgeous pale guys who have a jonesing for blood instead of brew… Well, we'll see.
I haven't mentioned cover art too much in my reviews, but I have to say that whomever chooses the art for this series is absolutely spot on. The model (who I'm so glad goes home with me with each book cover) is amazingly handsome and, WOW, the color of his eyes just pops as it changes in every cover. This just proves that you CAN judge a book by it's cover!
So, would I recommend Love Your Entity? Absolutely, without question. In fact I'd suggest that if you haven't already done so that you get the entire series - Sleeping With The Entity (book 1), The Entity Within (book 2), The Entity Who Came for Christmas: A Holiday Novella (book 2.5), Love Your Entity (book 4) - and begin reading, so when book three arrives on New Year's Eve you're all caught up on Vamptown relations.
Devon has gifted her readers with an incredibly wonderful paranormal romance series that's HOT, filled with alpha heroes and highly intelligent and discerning heroines, and just overflowing with humor. I know it's one that will remain on my must-read shelf and will be re-read again and again.
Five stars for Love Your Entity, a fun and sexy must-read by Cat Devon!
I’ve been reading paranormal romance (PNR) for a long time. Or at least I thought I had been but it appears that a lot of great authors and series are zipping right by me as I sit and dwell in young and new adult-land.
Grrrrrrr… too many genres, not enough time!!!!
Cat Devon’s Entity series is one of those PNR series that was on the verge of zipping right by me. I was lucky to have this series introduced to me when the opportunity arose to review it. Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “yeah, but it’s the third book in the series”. Fret not, for I had absolutely no problem diving right in and enjoying this world and all the colorful characters.
Sierra Brennan is writer of paranormal mysteries where the heroine in the story is a ghost whisperer. Interestingly enough, so is Sierra because she sees (and talks to) dead people. So needless to say, her writing is authentic. Her heroine is a pretty kick-butt, snarky character who is getting lots of sex. Sierra isn’t getting much in the sex department, considering the ghost issue but she’s all kinds of brave and full of sass and snark. She goes up on my imaginary list of favorite heroines for just being plain funny. That and she worships her Keurig like I do mine.
She’ll need her bravery in spades because she has a chance to inherit her uncle’s house in Chicago if she can live in the home for 30 consecutive days. Her two cousins who attempted it previously failed rather quickly. But Sierra already deals with ghosts on a daily basis; what could be worse? Um, naked vampire at the door?
Yep, that’s exactly how the books starts… oh, yeah! Love them vampires with no shame. *getting mind back on track*
Ronan McCoy is finally free of the master vampire who indentured him into service for one hundred years. Ronan is back in his hometown in Chicago with a claim on his childhood home. He also needs to find a “key” that will help in his attempt to free his sister from a curse. Now what in the world is Ronan going to do with a human getting in his way? Well, if you’re Ronan, you start thinking of all sorts things you want to do to Sierra :)
That’s what I loved about Ronan, he was a simple character trying to get out of a jam. He did horrible things in his past but those things didn’t make up who he is. I enjoyed that he was so much more and then at other times he was just kind of a simple guy.
Some of the secondary characters were off the wall hysterical and totally worth the book if only for them. I can’t even decide on my favorite. It’s a toss up between Bruce, Tanya, and Pat. I think I have to go with Tanya because she started Sierra’s street team and hosted webinars on Sierra’s behalf.
The story was basically a mystery and PNR wrapped into one. The plot moved along great and the only problem I had with the story is that towards the end, a major plot point was introduced that hadn’t been hinted at previously and seemed to come straight from left field. I personally hate when that happens. But don’t let one of my quirks stop you!
Seriously, I had absolutely no problems jumping right into Ms. Devon’s world because she did that little bit of explaining needed to understand references to past books or to understand a character’s background. Yes, of course it is ALWAYS better to start a series at the first book. But I’m just saying that if you want to jump right into where I did, you could do it and still enjoy.
uhhhh… Enjoy! *salute* (it just felt like a toast was needed there)
After fucking up and reading the last book first I was obsessed and went to see if that book was apart of a series and I realized my f up. So I ordered the other books and started at the beginning and I love Thai series. All the books are enemies to lovers and I absolutely love them. Literally obsessed and so are all my friends since I forced them to read it lol. Can’t recommend enough!
In Love Your Entity (Entity #3) by Cat Devon, Author Sierra Brennan is probably the most well-equipped member of her family to live in her late great-uncle Saul's home in Chicago. Sierra is an empath who can see and speak with ghosts, so the haunted home should be no problem. However, the stunningly attractive naked guy standing in said house is definitely a problem. He not only impedes her chance of inheriting the house, but Ronan McCoy is a vampire...and a man on a mission.
'She hoped he wasn't reading her thoughts. Could she post 'Vampires Out' on her mind? She definitely wanted 'Vampires In' regarding the rest of her body.'
Newly released after being his Sire's indentured slave/assassin for nearly a century, Ronan needs to solve a mystery to save his sister's soul. The key to it lies somewhere in his family's old home. The same house Sierra now stands to inherit. Working together is their only hope of achieving both of their goals. But will they be able to concentrate, given the magnetic bond that ties them together?
"Most people would consider me a monster," he said. "Most people don't see dead people," she retorted. "Haven't you figured out yet that I'm not most people?" "Yeah, I get that now." "It took you long enough." She kissed him.
Love Your Entity was a lively paranormal romance that kept me guessing while solving its mystery, and with a bunch of characters who tickled me with their quirkiness.
I'll start off by saying that there are quite a few characters in this book, so it took me a little while to get acclimated since I haven't read the previous two installments. But I was able to read this as a standalone and thoroughly enjoy it. I loved the mix of snarky humor along with the details surrounding the not-so-happy history of the house and its inhabitants. There was a lot of substance to the plot, which really helped turn this into a quick read. I had to know how it all ended.
There was so much to like about Ronan and Sierra. His loyalty to his sister and the fact that he wasn't completely insane after his time doing his Sire's bidding was incredible. And Sierra was a fiery, outspoken woman who kept Ronan on his toes. Their scenes together were always a blend of them antagonizing while trying to keep their hands off each other. So much fun! And of course the secondary characters added whole 'nother level of craziness to the story.
If you're a paranormal romance fan looking for a story to lose yourself in, I highly recommend Love Your Entity. It is oh-so enjoyable.
Paranormal romance author Sierra (S J) Brennan is in Chicago to claim her inheritance to a house her great-uncle left her. She’ll need to spend 30 consecutive days in residence to fulfill the will’s obligation, something that her preceding relatives couldn’t do because the house is suspected of being haunted. That’s no problem for Sierra because this author doesn’t just write about things that go bump in the night; she sees dead people. What she didn’t expect was to find a naked, very fit man in her house who’s not only refusing to leave but also professing the house is his. He’s arrogant, intimidating and turning her on. But he’s also hiding something Sierra’s sure of that. Ronan McCoy is a former indentured vampire whose come to Chicago at the demand of his sire and Master Vamp to solve a riddle and find a treasure or Ronan’s sister’s soul will be lost forever. He’s found a surrogate family here in the windy city, he’s part of a clan, but all could be lost if he doesn’t fulfill this one requirement. Now to make matters worse his former home is being invaded by a human woman, a beautifully, curvaceous successful author human woman whose pushing all his protective and sexual buttons which means he needs her to GO! Ronan and Sierra have mountainous obstacles before them, can they solve the puzzle, and will they survive the answer?
Cat Devon’s Entity series continues with Ronan and Sierra’s story, he’s a too sexy for his clothes, vamp with a twisted past and she’s a voluptuous writer and a more than merely human. Her Chicago setting for her Vamptown really works and her quirky co-stars both good and evil are uniquely preternatural with everything from vampires, to witches to demons and beyond. Her narrative is witty, sexy and wickedly entertaining with just the right amount of angst, drama and malevolence but not overly dark. The inclusion of real authorial happenings in this episode gives readers a fly on the wall look at the days-in-the-life of a novelist. Her couple is an ingenious paring and their lovemaking is rocket-fuel flammable while their love story is sweet with a fair amount of spice. The series is read better in order but the novels will stand on their own. If you enjoy the paranormal writings of Lynsay Sands, Charlaine Harris or Heather Graham you’ll love Cat’s novels.
Love Your Entity is a tricky book to grade. Most of the time, it walks that fine line between adorable and annoying as readers get to follow the latest round of antics in Chicago's Vamptown. However, since I got more eyerolls than chuckles out of this one, it's not something I'd recommend.
Sierra Brennan comes to Chicago for a reason time honored in Romlandia: She has to live in a dead relative's house in order to collect under his will. Said house has defeated more than one claimant before her, so one would think that Sierra might have some idea of what she's in for. She is nevertheless surprised to learn that her house is haunted. Sierra can see and communicate with ghosts, so living in a haunted house, particularly when one of the ghosts in question is obviously hostile, poses its own set of problems for her.
Then there's the unexpected roommate. When Sierra arrives, she is met by a very naked Ronan McCoy - and he's not exactly happy to see her. As Ronan tells her, he has a prior claim to the house and he wants her out. Of course, Ronan can't exactly tell Sierra that this was his family home back before he was turned into a vampire but he does manage to cook up enough trouble to convince Sierra to agree to a temporary truce. Each will occupy one floor of the home until Sierra's lawyer is back in town to sort things out.
The idea of a vampire enclave living peacefully in the middle of a big city has its appeal, and at times the interactions between Sierra, Ronan, and the neighbors can be humorous and fun. Ronan's quest to find a mysterious key in the house in time to save his sister, as well as Sierra's need to fulfill the terms of the will also gives the story a sense of urgency that takes things beyond humorous banter and slapstick. At times I found myself hoping that this light paranormal would work, but it just never came together well enough.
This is the 3rd book in the series, and I have to say after reading all of them, this is completely by far my favorite. You could tell when the authors’ sense of humor was coming out in the book. There were just some parts of the story that made me laugh hysterically, even to the point where I was reading them out loud to my family. In this book we have Sierra who can talk to ghosts, and I thought that was a really good twist to the story and ti wasn’t just another vampire book. That is one thing that I do enjoy about this series, even though some of the characters are vampires, it’s not all about them. There is more to what goes on in that town than just vamps. We have Ronan, who is a recently freed from being an indentured vampire. I do have to say right from the start I was weary of him, and even come the ending of the book I’m still unsure how I feel about him. One thing that I would have wanted to find out is Sierra is a writer; does she actually use the experiences she has with the ghosts in her books? How much of her stories are based on truth and how much is not? Another big thing that I completely enjoyed about this book was how the author brought her fans into this story. In quite a few different ways; she did a call out for everyone who has supported her books, in the book itself. I think that was fabulous of her because she’s showing how she appreciates what everyone has done for her. Overall I did completely enjoy this book and it’s my favorite book of her by far.

Love Your Entity is the third novel and fourth release in the Entity series from author Cat Devon and brings a fresh flavor to the series with a ghost whispering paranormal romance novelist named Sierra Brennan and a formerly indentured (but could be again) vampire who has a very dark past named Ronan McCoy. The two begin their story battling for ownership over the house they both claim for themselves--Sierra's great-uncle owned it and Ronan's family owned it over a century ago--but it soon becomes more than just about the house as a ghost named Ruby begs Sierra to get rid of a poltergeist named Hal so that she can cross over and Ronan needs to find a mysterious key in order to save his beloved sister's spirit.
I liked the ghost element in the story because it made it stand out from the earlier installments while still keeping with the humorous paranormal romance thriller vibe that the series is known for. Among all the main characters so far, Ronan's back story appears to be the darkest and his desperation to meet his sire's deadline kind of breaks your heart for the poor vampire. The fact that Sierra is a strong partner helps Ronan's cause and I loved these two together, especially since they're up against more than one foe in the middle of falling for each other. While this can be read as a standalone, I'm recommending you read the series in order so that you get a more well-rounded reading experience. Love Your Entity gets four stars! ♥
I originally got this book as a sample. The cover looked good (sorry first impressions and all that) I read the 'blurb' that sounded amazing! Loved the whole idea of the story and how it started out... YAY! And there are others already written for me to delve into with no waiting... all a big plus to me.
I read the sample ... definitely had me hooked... I bought the book...
I 'liked' the book. I did not love it. It may have been because I felt like it was a 'young' read. Not with a lot of meat. Entertaining... cute, funny, a bit suspenseful. But a bit 'young'. I kept wanting more... more romance, more suspense, more everything... The characters never got the ' i know them and love them' feel to me.. they were ...well, just characters in a book.
Would I recommend this to my friends... yes, some of them... my younger, more gentle read friends. But my hardcore vampire loving, danger, edge of your seat friends... probably not...they would be a bit disappointed. Not unhappy.... just disappointed... cause it could have been GREAT... Love the whole idea....
With all that said... I will probably try one more in this series... HEY... I liked the idea... maybe it gets a bit meatier....:)
After a disastrous first two books, I was really reluctant to pick up book 3. So I’d just like to take a movement to express my shock at the difference in this book.
Was it perfect? No, but it certainly did a much better job at actually having a story. The plot wasn’t so obvious and the characters were much more interesting.
I would recommend this book without even touching books 1 or 2 first. Ronan McCoy is facing eternity as an indentured vampire unless he can find a mysterious key. The problem? He doesn’t know what the key is and he now has to deal with ghost writer Sierra Brennan.
Writing advice that Sierra has always gotten is to write what you know. And she knows ghost. What she didn’t know about until moving into her haunted great-uncle’s house was about vampires.
Working against the clock, these two face not only their attraction, but angry ghost and a deadline.
Newcomers to Vamptown one is a in slave for a Master Vampire that wants Ronan to find a special kind of key and is on a deadline. New human woman with a unique gift that no one else could deal with, she is a medium to the ghosts, but her new home will have a couple of ghosts that are different. Besides being a medium, she is also a paranormal romance author. This move to Chicago is a new book for her to write while dealing with a selfish prostitute, her mob related boss and killer (member of Al Capone gang), a very naked sexy male that she sees for the first time walking into her temporary home (she has to stay for 30 days non-stop or the place is sold no matter the problems invading the house) Can these two complete opposites deal with their dislikes of each other or can they finally be able to bring a killer justice and save a live or more.
I started reading it becouse I forgot how bad the first one... I've seen that the reviews were ok and I told myself that the author managed to make something better than the first one.
Maybe she did, but I'm all for classic. I want my vampires to stay in the dark, they do not walk outside in the Sun...that's just not right.
I only read 20% of the book, and then I had to let it go...I just couldn't get pass the Sun thing.
Loved it just like the previous Vamptown books! This one is my new favorite though!!! I loved Sierra and Ronan along with everyone else joining the story! So quick paced that I was unable to put it down. Went from starting and going to sleep on page 20 to finished in 3 hours today! I especially loved the insight into the writer world Sierra expressed. I'm also glad Tanya received a bigger role that I can finally say I like her now and hopefully she will get her own story soon!
I'm not rating this one because I had trouble getting into it. I wanted to like it--I really did. I liked the first two books in the series. But the hero and heroine just didn't grab me from the get-go.
I'm considering this just my own hiccup in the series, though. I still recommend the first two books and I'll be reading the next one.
I'm sorry. I really tried to get into this but there were so many disconnects. It would take off in one direction, stop, and then take off in another direction, and stop. It had so much potential.
