As much as I enjoyed this book, I found it to be frustrating at some points. To be clear I am a Christian and in no way am I trying to minimize the amazing miracles Nancy experienced but some of the stories made me question if any of her stories were exaggerated. To say that you're 1 hour away from getting your lights turned off for not paying your bills and then someone miraculously shows up your door with a check seems a little hard to believe. To say that your fridge is empty and your neighbours just show up with bags of groceries saying that they had a feeling you needed food I found difficult to read. I believe in God's miracles but I also believe in not waiting to pay your bills until the last possible second and just doing it. It's not God's job to pay your bills it's your job.

Having heard about mercy ministries through Joyce Meyer ministries I was really interested to discover how God had brought about such a powerful and necessary ministry from its roots up. I really enjoyed the testimonies and it's clear that the author has a strong knowledge of scripture and the importance of us all walking in love and honouring God. I have a few niggles however which stop me rating it higher. Firstly it contains a lot of acknowledgements that aren't particularly engaging to the reader. Secondly it is so focused on attaining money from donators and on getting you to give so they can buy these homes debt free that it does come across a bit, unfortunately, like sponging. Fair enough if God leads people to give but constantly begging people for money to do these things gives Christians a bad name. My final niggle is that the author has a few viewpoints on issues such as lesbianism and the goth subculture that I feel are not very love centred, though we're supposed to be loving and not critical, as Christians. I feel like she tied these things with judgement in a way I didn't agree with. But overall it's an inspiring book and the ministry is doing a wonderful job. I'm sure God will continue to bless them mightily.

Read this book as a pre-requisite for Nancy Alcorn’s “Mercy Multiplied” treatment program, previously called “Mercy Ministries”. The name was changed after facing controversy for "emotionally cruel and medically unproven techniques" as well as seizing benefit payments from patients while claiming to not charge for services. After reading this book, I chose not to admit myself and sought treatment elsewhere. It’s a hypocritical display of self-adulation, ignorance, and hateful rhetoric, hidden behind a guise of “Jesus loves you” and “To God be the glory”. Also she’s definitely lying and embellishing, this is tumblr level storytelling.

Oh my goodness. I've read Randy Alcorn's books for years, known that he and his wife helped teen girls "in trouble," but I had no idea about Mercy Ministries.

This little sermon in a book is the most powerful message to today's church about not sitting on our collective behinds, but instead actively being the church.
