I designed and laid out this book, working from home in Oxford, during the summer of 1991. This title was the earliest productions using OPI, where the high-resolution image scans replaced the low resolution positional versions during file rasterization. The anatomical overlays were created as vector graphics on top of the low-resolution positionals, then carefully composited within the layout by landmarking various anchor points. Working on a Mac II with a 14" colour screen, and moving files back and forth via Syquest disks, I marvel that it only took a few months to build, and worked as well as it did. It was a true joy to work on this title. Oh, and if you're wondering about the gorgeous Beagle featured inside, her name was Annie, and she was adopted by Jack Boyd after the photo work.
