A good compilation of biography, teachings and reports of God's work in and through this great man of God. His encounters with God and his teachings are totally validated by the documented results that God was able to do through him. It is a very challenging book, but those willing to surrender to God in the way that he did will make a real difference to the world. Not for the fainthearted who may want Christianity on their own terms rather than God's.

This was a book a read at missionary school...Lake was a great missionary in Africa and there are many stories of the miracles that happened there and in the US when he returned. I still pull it out time and again and read the sermons that were transcribed...very inspirational! I definitely recommend all to read this book!! :D

Not completely accurate on the details of his life. Since reading this book, I have learned that many historians trying to document his life have found that he lied or at least misled others. Details that are not included in this work.

Took me a while to read this book.
Great look at one of the Great Faith Healers that is overlooked in the Word of Faith and other church movements in the 20th Century.

John Lake was an Apostle to Africa and a man of many miracles. His knowledge of God and incredible insight into divine healing is amazing. He is a preacher of victory, faith and complete dedication to the Lord. I recommend him to anyone who is hungering for God; but he is not for the faint of heart or for those who want to make excuses for Christian failure!

Excellent book explaining the life, times, struggles and spiritual growth of the blessed evangelist in late 1800's and early 1900's. I talks about his U.S.A. ministry as well as his expansion over into Africa. How the Lord took him and molded him and gave him amazing and wondrous gifts of the Holy Spirit to help and heal people in his created church.

Though I am not sympathetic to some of Mr. Lake's word faith teachings, he was undoubtedly used by Providence to glorify the King!
