A complete botany curriculum for ages 8-13 (grades 4-8 in the USA). Includes a 100-page student text plus a 150-page teacher's section. The student text is written in a lively, engaging style, often with a touch of whimsical humor, yet delves deeply into the science of how plants work. Each chapter ends with some follow-up activities such as word puzzles, quiz questions, and links to videos that illustration the concepts learned in the text. The teacher's section includes patterns and instructions for board games, group games, active games, art and craft activities, experiments, and even two songs. Ideal for homeschool or gifted education, but also a great resource for any classroom.
Pretty OK. K gave it a 3, L insists it was a 0, because "it was boring and I'm not interested." Stinker. It *was* a little dry, though McHenry did try to jazz it up, and it did help that we did it as a summertime afternoon read-aloud in the back yard, so lots of real-life examples around us. I'm still not giving up on McHenry books, because I love the general format and the content is great.
