This anthology addresses gender violence of any kind, not just sexual. The compressed nature of poetry is an ideal venue for the powerful subjects covered. The title is telling-women are giving voice to the unspeakable, are resisting any notion that gender violence is deserved. This is poetry of witness at its finest.

The book is not divided into sections. The poems are alphabetical by author. I feel guilty trying to single out examples, as each of these poems is strong, powerful,

Everyone needs to get a copy of this! Powerful, heartbreaking, unforgettable and kickass brilliant collection that should be part of the curriculum for many areas, but most definitely women's studies. LOVE!

So how do we find the right routes for our voices to take? How can we be heard? I think we should pick up on what the writers of the anthology Women Write Resistance: Poets Resist Gender Violence are putting down. Over 100 women American poets challenge the current narrative on gender violence and use their experiences to help bring to light the issues that many other women face but let their fear and shame choke their voices.
