After the 3-volume Emi Lost & Found series was published, readers wanted more. This is for the readers – the story of how Nate and Emi met.

In December of 1994, when she was a junior in high school, Emi Hennigan discovered her father's infidelity. Forced to transfer schools mid-year, she wasn't trying to make new friends. In that same month, sophomore Nate Wilson's girl

This is possibly the best prequel I’ve ever read.

Not Today, but Someday tells the story of how Emi Hennigan and Nate Wilson first met. It’s 1995, and both are in high school. After publicly discovering her father’s infidelity, Emi and the rest of her family relocate and she’s forced to transfer schools, landing at the high school Nate goes to. Around the same time, Nate’s girlfriend breaks up with him and he’s left feeling empty and at a loss. These two people who are completely differe

Don't read this review if you haven't read the Lost and Found Series. I was fortunate enough to not have heard or read any spoilers and was able to enjoy the series to the fullest extent emotionally.

This is the innocent beginning of Nate and Emi. It serves as a background to how their bond formed and you are able to see how fond they were of each other even back in the beginning. The story is full of hope and promise. Even the title hints to greater things to come. However, I have to say this bo

Not Today, But Someday is a very nice YA prequel, and setup, to the adult contemporary Emi Lost and Found series by Lori L. Otto!

I started with this long novella in order to gain the background and history of the main characters, to understand the foundation of their deep friendship, and I'll be moving on to book one of the ELaF series now, Lost and Found. I love that I've had the opportunity to get to know the young Emi and Nate in high school, the early days of their bond forming, through a s

"Have you ever been in love, Emi?"
"I don't think so."
"Then this is a real shame," he tells me.
"What is?"
"You've never been in love. You don't want to be in love. How does one live their life without love?"
"So you were in love with that girl?
"No," he says. "I thought I was, but no."
"Then have you ever been in love?"
"I'm not sure," he answers and his eyes linger on mine just long enough to make my heart skip a beat.

"But I want to be."

This is the prequel to the series and serious this is one of the best prequels I have ever run into and I am lucky and got to snag this one for free.
Emi was moved in the middle of her school year after discovering her father cheating in public. She has to transfer school and find something besides chocolate to consume because chocolate reminds her of her father feeding his mistress strawberries and chocolate. After she fights going to school for 4 days she finally goes to scho

"When love is strong, loves knows no law. Love itself has greater dominion. Earthly rules are of no account. Lovers break them every day. A man must love, even if he strives against it; he cannot escape love, even at the cost of his own life. It may be love for a maid, for a widow, or for a married woman.  It does not matter. Love is the law of life itself."

Really LOVED this story (and it's just the prequel) I cannot imagine how the rest of this series will impact me.
Scared to read the first book. its gonna be a heart-shredding-into-pieces kinda story. I can feel the build up of tears. The simplicity of the connection between the MCs were just magically beautiful.

HIGHLY recommend this book to be read first, as it gives you the foundation of how it all started.

Updated review:

My second time reading this book and seriously.. wow. You know that feeling, when you’re reading a book that’s so good, you’re actually falling in love with with it? Well, I’ve fallen in love with the book TWICE.

This time, I understood some things I hadn't seen the first time I read it.

First. Emi's situation with her dad and their relationship. After reading NTBS I got to see Emi from a new perspective and it's easier to understand her decision knowing everything that happened her

I will start off by saying that even though the PREQUEL, Not Today, But Someday, was written AFTER the Emi Lost & Found Series was released, you should definitely read it BEFORE book one, Lost & Found. In my opinion, it will allow you to connect more with the characters. At least, that's how I feel.

Not Today, But Someday... is NOT what you should be saying if you haven't read Not Today, But Someday!!

As the true YA book whore I am, I must say I am IN LOVE with Emi and Nate!! I read this book in one sitting... started it in the morning over coffee and finished it before closing my eyes last night... and I worked 9 hours in between there as well.. it was a fast, engaging, enthralling read. I loved the relationship between Nate and Emi, I loved them individually, I loved their banter and their

This book is the prequel to the lost and found series. I have had this series on my tbr for awhile and finally decided I was going to dive right in.

Let me just say, if the rest of the series is as good as the prequel I am in for a treat.

Emi, her mom, and her brother have just moved, which means a new school in the middle of the school year. Emi feels lost and is most definitely not happy about the move. Everything she thought she knew in her life has been turned upside down and she doesn't kno

Not Today, But Someday is the prequel to Emi Lost & Found series. Yet, it gave me an emotional rollercoasters. I laughed, cried and feel giddy at the same time. I tell you, it is a GOOD prequel and I'm definitely looking forward to read the rest of the series.

SHOOT! That was it? No effing way!

That was my initial reaction the moment I realized that I had read the last word in the book.

It left me hanging and feeling deprived. I was craving for more.. I still am. Gawd, I am in love with this book! :)

That is why I am going to start reading "Lost and Found" already. As in, right now!

P.S. To all the people who recommended this book to me.. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! More books like this for us to read. Cheers! ;)

So I ordered this, mainly because of the new covers....I'm crazy like that. And yep another thing that made me buy it, it was signed. Can't say no to that.

This was the perfect way to tie up this series. Now knowing the back story behind Emi and Nate, I realize why it took them so long to get together even though they harbored feelings for each other early on.

Beautiful novella that complements the main series wonderfully.

However it did reaffirm to me how much I liked Nate's character and that I prefer him over Jack. *sigh*

"Not Today, But Someday" was an absolute joy to read.

Earlier today, I finished "Lost and Found," book one of Lori L. Otto's "Emi Lost & Found" Series, and it was tough for me to read. Not because it wasn't very good and beautifully written--it was both of these. It was tough for me to read, because it hit so close to home. It showed me the agony possible when "best-friend/soul-mates" both wander from bad relationship to bad relationship, never admitting to themselves or each other that they

This book was tough for me to read. I waited 3 days after I had finished the series to even start it. And once I hit chapter two, it was already time for a break. Nate Wilson haunts me.
The crazy part is I was dying to read this book. I wanted to know Emi and Nate’s background. How did the “Like ya” phrase begin? Thankfully we get the answer to that and a few other things. Not Today, But Someday is written in alternating points of view so we get both of their thoughts on the situations they find

This book is the 'gateway drug' to Lori Otto books. Found this as a freebie on Bookbub. Loved the characters so much that I immediately went on Barnes and Noble's website to find the 3 follow up books (actually, the original books since this prequel was written AFTER but that's neither here nor there).

Read this first. Get to know them in high school. then find the Emi Lost & Found trilogy. Yes, you can buy the books separately, but why? I couldn't even tell you when one book ended and the n

Prequel novella for the Emi Lost and Found series. We open up with Emi in turmoil. She caught her dad cheating on her mom when she was at a restaurant eating with her friends. She is now living with her brother and mom in a small apartment. She is being forced to start over at a new school. Emi is a mess. But she meets Nate in her art class and they strike up an unlikely friendship.

Emi and Nate's friendship is a beautiful thing. They compliment each other perfectly. Lori Otto created amazing

This was or is probably the best YA book I have read in a long while. I adore Lori's writing it is smooth, it has soul, and her story sucks you in.

I love this heartbreaking, rebuilding story between two young teens, finding one another and forming this amazing friendship. Emi, this beautiful, yet sad girl is so breath taking. I love her. I can feel her sadness, understand her struggles, and I am moved by her strength. To be so young and have her heart ripped out and see her deal with it is amazi

What a sweet, sweet intro into The Amazing series, Emi Lost and Found. I am reading this series for the second time and have really enjoyed getting to know Nate and Emi all over again! This book is so well written through Emi and Nate's eyes, it alternates between chapters so we really get a good feel for how these characters think and relate to one another! 4.25 Stars. Not Today, But Someday is the prequel to the Emi Lost & Found series. This YA novella focuses on the early years of the relationship between Nate Wilson and Emi Hennigan. Readers will learn that even in the early days of their friendship, this couple had a deep connection and strong feelings for each other. We also learn the reason why Emi was so very hesitant to take their relationship beyond being friends.

I would definitely make the recommendation to read Not Today, But Someday

I read all the books and I think it's better to read the prequel first. I would highly recommend to read it first. This is the beginning and I think you will understand their actions and decisions in book 1 better. I love Emi and Nate's relationship, they met very young and they started a beautiful friendship. One of the things that stood out to me was their feelings toward their dads. Emi couldn't forgive her dad's actions but Nate knew what it was like not to have a father so his view about fo ...more

I put off reading this prequel to the Emi Lost & Found series...not for any specific reason, but I just didn't read it right after finishing the last book of the series.

Now I know why. "Not Today, But Someday" really reinforced what I loved about Nate and Emi. And at the end of this novella, I got teary eyed and had to sit for a minute as the waves of emotion came over me. This story brought home what the ending of the first book of the series "Lost and Found" signified. Kudos to Lori L. Ot

Very sweet story. I read this cause everyone is talking about the series right now and my curiosity got the best of me. Overall good story, in the end I felt like I really didn't want to read the next books in the series until I found out they take place years later then where this story leaves off. I just couldn't get into the younger generation of the characters in this one but knowing they are older in the rest of the series, I have added the other books to my TBR.
