A funny, heartwarming, and bittersweet tale of finding answers in times of trouble through the treasured connection of friendship. A fictionalized version of a true story.

In a complicated world where the joy of true friendship can be hard to come by, Jan and her tight-knit group defy those odds. They share a bond that can't be broken, even in the hard times. Yet, that bond will be severely tested when Liz faces a critical illness and an uncertain future.

But, as only women can do at the strangest times, the five decide to knock a shared dream off their bucket list, and to their astonishment, the experience will be nothing short of supernatural.

J Boykin Baker is an award-winning interior designer, author, speaker and founder of a nonprofit which provides clean water to families in 32 countries and provinces, as well as areas in the United States.

She grew up in the small town of Wilson, North Carolina. She knew from the age of seven, after seeing the old movie “Pillow Talk,” that the only career for her was interior design. After college, marriage, and babies, her dream of being an interior designer came true with the start of her own design firm in Atlanta, Georgia. As luck would have it, she just happened to be in the right place—at the right time—with the right look and ended up designing hospitals, corporate offices, and high-end residential projects across the nation.

With humor, tears, and professional insight, she enjoys sharing her wide-ranging experiences on national television, radio interviews, and international speaking engagements. She was honored to be named one of North Carolina’s Women of Achievement. To learn more or contact her, visit JBoykinBaker.com.

I could not put this down and finished in 1 day. My emotions were all over the place, I laughed and I cried. Great read, the storyline was intense as well as made me long for a group of women to be friends with me like that. This is a first time for me to read this author and I plan on reading more once I get my emotions back in place. Highly recommend.

Bond, adventures, shared our souls…

Four long-term friends, Liz, Dorothy, Katherine, and Sue invite Jan to join them for a weekend trip. After this getaway, Jan becomes a member of this close-knit group of women.

A heartwarming story of five devoted friends who “treasure their friendship like a gift.” They will stick together through thick and thin. An unwavering dedication to those who need their support to cope and thrive. They will travel together through life’s journey of ups and downs.

*First time reader of this author!

*A tale of hope, even when things look bleak.

*Surprising ending!

*I agree with the quote on p 158. “You can do the impossible when love is involved.”

*The story shows how important it is to have a good support system in case of need. How fortunate one would be to have a group like these women!

This is the first book I've read J Boykin Baker. A good clean read, wonderful friendship with lots of laughs, and tears.

I really enjoyed this book and the characters, it was fun reading with towns I know well. The hospital design reminded me of the children's hospital at the local hospital when my kids were growing up- but they included the birds, which was one of my kids favorite thing- watching them in their glass habitat.

Anyway, I recommend this book grab a copy and head to the beach!

Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fun, yet emotional read about life and deep, lasting friendships. This was my first book by the author, but I would like to read more of her work in the future. I did read this in one setting because I just had so much fun hanging with the girls. I found myself wishing for my own group of gal pals. I laughed, hoped, and mourned alongside them as they went through their different life experiences, and I missed their shenanigans after I finished the book. A big thank you to Booksirens as well as the author for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book!

This is a heartwarming and comedic story that follows five women completing their bucket lists because of one friend whose life is going to be considerably shorter than the rest. The story is a quick read with plenty of action.

Not going to lie, you need a box of tissues. I think this is a novel of the friendships that every woman wants to have in her life, super jealous of those who get to experience this (minus the heart-aches, or course).

It was such a realistic story. Of friends and how they evolve in each others lives. Through good times and bad.

I finished it bc I refuse to start a book and not finish. It was so surface level and just childish. No plot, overly explained details that didn’t matter or enhance the story. It could have been told in three pages.

Have you ever wanted to peek into the lives of a tight group of girlfriends? This book does just that. You will find high-powered professional women and a young stay-at-home mom. There’s a pastor’s wife and an “agnostic”. Talk a walk through the ups and downs of real life with these upper-middle-class southern ladies.

Due to being ‘snowed under’ with interior design projects, Jan is tempted to pass up a long-held ambition to work on a hospital project. Her decision to follow through changes her life entirely as she meets Liz and they form an instant bond, which extends to a further trio of ladies.

The author highlights laugh-aloud episodes as these affluent friends travel and spend short holidays together. The close bond they share becomes stronger with every difficulty and tragedy they encounter. Throughout it all, Liz’s huge character, sense of humour and love of life keep the group laughing.

This book, which is not the standard type of novel I am familiar with, consists of a series of memories which I had to read over a period of time.

This is a fun, beautiful story about true friendship, deep and dealing with loss. I laughed out loud and shed a few tears, and I recommend this book to anyone who questions their faith.

I received a free copy of this book from BookSirens for my honest, voluntary review. The story is so good and detailed that I had to check to confirm it is fiction.
