Calculus and Analytic Geometry

Rate this book
This book is designed to reinforce ideas - new functions are not introduced and then abandoned; intstead, the authors have the ability to refer back to previously learned concepts and apply those ideas throughout the text. Mizrahi and Sullivan also excel at motivating new concepts. Motivation through concrete examples precedes theory and, wherever posible, the authors present geometric interpretations of difficult ideas (particularly in multivariable calculus). A new Differential Equations chapter meets the needs of instructors who include this material in their course. This book should be of interest to undergraduate students in engineering, physics, science, economics or mathematics who are studying calculus.

I read the second edition, and loved it. For differential and integral calculus, this does a great teaching job. For multi-dimensional and vector calculus, I fell severely behind, but was never sure if that was the text's failing or my own.
