MY REVIEW:

This brightly illustrated kid's book is a re-make of the classic booklet My Heart - Christ's Home and is just as wonderful.

I immediately was drawn to this book due it's bold colors and soft, yet realistic, pictures. The storyline catches your attention from the beginning and walks children through several days in the normal life of an elementary age child.

The story it's self is a picture of what it's like when Jesus lives in your heart. It illustrates how Jesus loves us, is there for us, and forgives our sin when we confess it to Him. My oldest really enjoyed the story, but my younger two - 5 & 3 - had a harder time making the connection with the allegory.

I highly recommend this book for older children - let's say 6-years-old and up - for it's great content and ability to start a conversation about Jesus living within your heart. As you read about Peter and see how Jesus is with him at home, at school, at play, at night...your children will grasp how Jesus is with them every moment, too.

Peter is happy when Jesus comes to stay with him at his home. Jesus plays with him, cares for him, and protects him from harm. However, Peter has a secret—a box that he keeps in his room that he's afraid to show to Jesus. What could be in the box, and will Jesus forgive him when he finds out? This is a story with many layers of meaning, enabling it to connect with both children and adults. It presents Jesus to children in a gentle way that they can understand and opens the door for discussion between children and adults about love, sin, forgiveness, and what Jesus means to them. Illustrated with realistic paintings, this book manages to both tell a good story and allow children to learn more about who Jesus is on further re-readings.

Read during devotions this morning. Jacob really liked it (side note...he came out of his room last night after I put him to bed and said "mom, if your looking for a really good book to read you should read the book of James in the Bible. I just read it in 10 minutes and it's really good!"

I had read the unabridged version of this book years ago. This is a good retold version for kids that I picked up for free at the library a while ago...krb 4/15/20

This is a classic

This book artfully paints a picture of what it’s like to be in a relationship with Jesus. In a simple story there are many word pictures that help relate very sound truth. Highly recommend.

One of my kids' favorites, we have read it several times. I actually think it is better than the adult/original.
