Katie Reid’s new life in California isn’t working out how she’d hoped. She's counting the days until she can return home to her old life in Australia.
Until she meets Jake McAllister… and forgets all about her countdown.
Tall, tattooed and troubled, at first he doesn’t seem like her usual preppy type. Hard as she tries, Katie can’t ignore the chemistry that sizzles between them. But is he the solution to her problems, or the cause of many more?
New adult contemporary romance. 17+ due to adult content. Broken is part one of a two-novella series. Part two is coming soon.
Katie has a really bad time at her new school and I couldn't imagine going through what she did. Those classmates were nasty and mean and sadly that's probably how some high schools are like.
I'm glad she met Jake, but it was kind of a sketchy way to meet. Once we got to know him he wasn't too bad.
Things progressed seriously fast between these two - almost too fast to be healthy. I'm curious what book 2 will bring.
I loved the ideas of Broken and think it could have been a five star book, if it had been given the time to develop the characters more. The story moved too fast and rush through key scenes in the book. I hope that the nest instalment allows for character development and emphasises more on the problems at heart rather than brushing them off.
Also there are far too many spelling and grammar issues with this book that it was hard to give it more than 2 stars. I really really hope that the next book engages me as the reader a little more.
