Hunting Shadows is the third and final installment of the Shadow Series. Spoilers for Books 1 & 2 are contained below.Caitlin Kile has been through hell and back. The war between seers and vardogers is only just beginning yet she's already suffered unimaginable losses. Revenge is the only thing fueling her to fight back, but what she doesn't realize is that she still has so much more to lose.Good and evil will battle for human souls and Caitlin must draw the line between her enemies and allies. Putting her trust in the right person will determine her victory or her death.
So I am happy that I got to finish up that series. The last book was left with a cliffhanger from hell. We jump right into this book where that one left off. We watch Caitlin grow stronger and learn how to become the person she was destined to. Simon is still swoon worthy.. we watch their relationship grow. We are introduced to Ryan. I really liked Ryan! I like watching Caitlin grow with Ryan. There is so major OMG moments in this book. The ending was a little fast. But loved it. Great ending to a great series!
From the last cliffhanger, I can’t think of anything that will happen next. So when I started reading Hunting Shadows, I was at the brim of anticipation and suspense. Caitlin and Simon have been through a lot together and also with the other characters. It would be too devastating if something happens to them. I won’t dwell into details about the book, but the only thing I can tell is that it was a wonderful time for me reading the entire series.
I’m just glad that the long wait of consummating Caitlin and Simon’s love has finally come. It just touched me to remember that despite their differences, they still love each other deeply. Every simple touch, caress, whisper, endearments and a lot more romantic things between them made me love them all the more.
The only part that saddened me about this book is the loss of some very important friends. Those that were established a long time ago and others that were made in the process of fighting off evil. I’m just amazed how the writing was unbelievably flawless. You’ll certainly appreciate how every scenes was played out carefully, may it be the bad or the good scenes. I could only hope that there was a better closure for Caitlin and Simon’s relationship. I miss them already! They’ve consumed most of my waking hours while reading the book. Ha! ;)
Overall, I really like the series, but I must say I was a little disappointed with this third and final installment. I loved the first two books, and couldn't wait for the third, but now I am just a little sad. I was disappointed that after so much build up, when they finally consummated their relationship, it was rushed, and immediately followed by a fight. Also, that she had some unexplored feelings for another guy. WTF? I was also disappointed that she could still be so willing to destroy the unknown vardogers... Her own boyfriend is one. Wouldn't you at least think about whether some of them were worth saving as well? She never even considers it. How must Simon feel? Simon is still swoon-worthy, but Caitlin drove me a little crazy. I'm glad it had a HEA, but must say I was hoping for a little more.
I am glad the 3rd book is finally out and that I got to read the conclusion to the trilogy. I enjoyed the book but not as much as I enjoyed the first 2 books. It may have been because it has been a while since I read the last two books, but I didn't feel as drawn into the book. I was able to put the book down and not think about when I would be able to read it next.
The story in this last installment felt a little rushed. I would have liked more of an explanation on how SImon was able to over come his traits given who he really is and come to love Caitlyn. I enjoyed Ryan's character, but he felt like a character of convenience and after he finished his role he was just done away with. The ending wrapped up fairly quickly. I am happy for the HEA though. Thanks. S.H. Kolee for the ride.
4&3/4 stars. I LOVED this series. Couldn't put them down. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the "big event" between Caitlin and Simon. i also thought that the "messages/riddles" from he visions were really reaching for meaning when she finally figured them out. I thought that when they finally got together was rushed and very little thought put into it. Such a big build up only to fizzle on the pages. Thought the 3rd book did a great job to wrap up all the loose ends
This book did not disappoint. I live how strong Caitlyn was in this book and was willing to sacrifice herself for the ones she loved. Her faith in Simon was also absolutely amazing. I do wish there was going to be a 4th book though cause the ending was not satisfying enough for me, but loved it any ways
I haven't written any other reviews for this series, so I will just sum it all up here. I really enjoyed this series. The paranormal aspect was original and interesting and it kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I liked the characters and felt like the storyline was written well. Definitely recommendable.
It a good series, but this last book was a bit disappointing compared to the other two. Caitlin is still fighting the shadows and especially her father. All the battles battles are coming to an end. I am a bit disappointed by the development in Caitlin and Simon's relationship. The last book could have been better...
OMG I love it ♥♥♥ i loved the series! i just couldnt put the book down. I am proud of Caitlin for being strong and that regadless of Simon being a vardoger proved that love is much more stronger and can overcome any evilness.
This was my least favorite entry just because Caitlin was so dumb. The dreams should have clued her in a lot more than they did. Also, Jenny. And the dad. I just didn't care for it.
