A Dom in disguise... As one of the heirs to the Christopoulos billions and his family’s political dynasty, 21-year-old Derek is used to living his life in the limelight. Add in his gorgeous looks and charm, and every girl has no problem seeing him as the hottest guy in uni---the very embodiment of a modern-day prince. Or so people mistakenly think.
Throughout his life, Derek has kept his darker desires leashed, waiting for that one girl who’d find pleasure in belonging to him, body and soul.
A Sub in denial... Jaike Hepburn’s unassuming looks hide a shameful past, one that forces her to run away from anything – anyone – that threatens her self-control. Derek is one such man, and the feelings he arouses in Jaike pushes her into the arms of his rival.
An obsession that cannot be denied, a relationship that knows no bounds... Jaike doesn’t trust herself with Derek, not when he is everything she desires...and fears. But Derek believes differently. He knows it’s only a matter of time before the truth between them is laid bare. She is his, and he is hers.
This was a short quick read that I liked. Jaike Hepburn is a happy, nerdy 18 year-old student at Christopoulos University w/ an unlikely boyfriend, Student Council President Angelo Ricardo Valencia III. Derek Christopoulos has wanted Jaike from the moment he laid eyes on her but is unable to steal her away from his rival, Angelo. Derek was patient waiting for for her. Derek is a baby Dom and she is a submissive. I have read this author before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
First installment of two. I’m sorry, but the idea of bdsm, with boys knowing they’re Dom and girls understanding they’re Sub, mmmm, not believable at all. Had they been in their late twenties or thirties, ok, I would have accepted. But the hero at 19 knows he’s a Dom and he likes that kind of sex. He and his comrades who are the same age, have a club where they meet and have that kind of sex, basically BDSM. Honest? I don’t like when people don’t act their age. It’s not believable and it’s weird, if not definitely ridiculous, as here. The characters are in college, they are already into BDSM and already have roles. I love when people that age experiment, but being already stuck in a role which requires a lot of practice, self confidence and mindfulness, well, I just can’t believe it. Then there’s the matter of the hero being in love with the heroine but keeping having sex with ow because she is dating another guy. This is so exhausting. In the end he and the heroine decide to try to date, she was abused and saw her mother being beaten by her lover, who was a sadist and not a man practicing BDSM. BDSM requires mutual consent and boundaries. No way one can say to their partner that they must do everything they’re asked to. This is not the way it works. It is a role play, and it can go deep but that is wha it is, role play which means two play the game. The hero on the contrary seems like an abusive asshole and I don’t think it’s healthy that the heroine feels attracted to this nd of abuse. So, 💯no.
Characters: 3.5 I am not sure how I truly feel about this pair. Jaike is very introverted and dating a "safe" guy. Derek wants her ever since the first time they meet and he felt that she was the "sub" for him. Jaike did not really pull me in like she should have as a main character and Derek got on my nerves just a little with his "I am Dom" hear me roar behavior.
Plot: 3 Not much of one. Young man wants girl that he feels is submissive and will work as a sub for him. Girl is afraid of feelings and rejects his advances.
Flow: 4 I was not jarred out of the story and everything was in order and easy enough to follow.
Believability: 3.5 Some of Derek's behavior was stalkerish, at least in my opinion. If I was Jaike, I would run too.
Sexual Tension: 4 Jaike was hyper-aware of Derek and those scenes, where some of the simplest gestures and actions happened, took on a new dimension because of it.
Romance: 3.5 I felt there was more "lust" than love in this story, especially on Derek's part, though Jaike did have some attraction to him that she was afraid to admit to.
Well I am not too sure about this one, but I am intrigued! Jaike is a junior in college that seems to only enjoy keeping her head in books to study. She is dating the class president, but he seems to be getting more distant after dating her for 15 months. During her time in college she is watched and approached by another student, Derek. Derek is in awe of Jaike and must have her as his own. Whole at a party Jaike finds out why her boyfriend has been distant and who is there to pick up the pieces....Derek. Little does she know just what he expects of her now....to be continued!
A great tease of an intro to the book that will be out later this month. Derek and Jaike are drawn together from the very beginning but for whatever reason Jaike was fighting it. Can't wait to find out what happens.
I prefer stories where the H does the chasing and he is the one that is crazy about the h. This fit the bill perfectly. Really enjoyed this even though it was short.
Did I read the same book as other reviewers? Jarring and confusing. There doesn’t seem to be any real connection between the MCs. Maybe it’s a novella to set up the next book, I’m not sure. However, the next book doesn’t seem to be available.
Marian Tee is one of my favourite authors and I have read each and every one of her books. This was previously titled Warning: Love Moderately and there is a sequel due out early this year. The story could, I suppose, be read as a standalone, but, having read all other series by Ms Tee I would imagine that it would be best read as a whole story.
This book is all about a shy ‘nerd’ of a girl, Jaike, who is, at the beginning of the story, dating a Italian/American guy called Angelo. Only problem is that although she cares about him her body believes that it belongs to someone else, that someone is Derek, a hunky dominant Greek man. When Jaike’s world comes tumbling around her who is there to help her along but Derek. The man who has lusted after her for 3years, the man who was devastated when she chose Angelo over him, the man who will now own her. . . the way that she already owns him. Yup, it’s time for another steamy read from Ms Tee, if indeed an all too brief glimpse, of the relationship that there is going to be between Jaike and Derek.
I received an ARC of the book from a boxed set by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I. LOVED. IT. I'm a huge fan of her work as it's yet to disappoint me, and this book was just as great as the others. I loved that I could read her story of Jaike and Derek and feel everything they did and enjoy the things they felt for each other! Most of all, is the fact that this author writes deliciously sweet romances that never fail to touch the heart. It touched mine, as I always find myself resonating with the girls and crying when they cry, and I love her alpha males and their sweet counterparts. She should channel her awesomeness and send some alphas my way xD Her style of writing is smooth and let's you slip right into the character themself to experience the story the only real and proper way.
I recommend this to those who are interested in the foundation and pull of a sub/dub relationship, and should be warned that it ends on a cloth-tearing cliff hanger, so fair warning!

It’s basically a two-part romance which I didn’t know when I picked up this freebie. There's some resolution, but barely.
It’s a really, quick read, so there’s that. On the other hand, It’s OTT dramatic (think kind of bad soap opera), train-wreck kind of reading, and I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love the eye-roll inducing bits of OTT angst from the h because of some past that isn’t really delved into, and her waffling between two guys. Also, it seems completely de rigueur that everyone’s a Dom or a sub. In college. Filled with uber-wealthy Greek billionaires and their friends? Ok.
The Bottom Line It’s a fantasy, and a guilty one. If this sounds like your cuppa tea, I’d recommend it for you. But otherwise...yeah, I probably wouldn’t.
Jaike Hepburn is a happy, nerdy student at Christopoulos University w/ an unlikely boyfriend, Student Council President Angelo Ricardo Valencia III. Derek Christopoulos has wanted Jaike from the moment he laid eyes on her but is unable to steal her away from his rival, Angelo. When Angelo shows up at a party with another girl, Jaike is crushed by his unexpected betrayal. Derek finally gets the opportunity to make Jaike his own and to give her the passion she has been secretly craving. This is a steamy, quick read and is Part 1 of Jaike and Derek's story. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one!
Jaike Hepburn's life was shaped by her mother. She went through a lot of traumatic stuff and decided to be nerdy and boring; for this girl didn't want to live the life her mother had. Little did she know, she would need something similar. Derek Christopoulos is swoon worthy. I love how he just knows Jaike is the one and waits patiently for her. If only more guys like him existed in real life. He dealt with her having a boyfriend and still stood by the notion Jaike was his. I love how he never judges her and gives her space. I LOVE that, but like any Marian Tee book, a cliff hanger needs to break your heart.
Marian Tee is usually a winning bet for me. An author I like and whose books had never disappointed me before this one. But this one? This is not a book with a cliffhanger, this feels more like a chapter of a book.
A chapter in which a lot of things seem to happen in just one scene, but which leave us knowing what it feels too much and too little about the main characters. That had to be difficult to manage, but the author did it.
Very good gave it a four because I have to wait for more lol.....but I think Jaike is kinda stupid already though I mean hello one guy you love like a brother or something and you make him your bf to avoid the one who makes you feel things totally not brother/sister lol I wouldn't have a hard time choosing lol......I love Derek already though :) Jaike better get with that lol
this is one of my favorites by Marian Tee. I have read it before it changed names and went into the bundle, but i cannot get enough of this two characters. I am not a fan 50 shades of Grey(personal beliefs about Dom and Sub relationships) and absolutely love this book. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and cannot wait for the second book, which I believe is later this month!
Good read, not my favorite but it was good for how short it was. Jaike didn't seem like the same character in the other stories. Maybe she's not but from what I read she seems totally opposite and in a way it was good seeing how far she evolved with herself. The ending came so fast now I want to read more but I'm sure it will be really short so...anyway good but too short.
Marian Tee really should be crowned the queen of billionaire romances who loves to also dominate the Dominate and Submissive world at the same time. She is a powerhouse that can not be denied and in The Love Moderately series, she does not fail to deliver.
It would have been a four star rating if I could have finished the story!! It states the rest of the story will publish March 2013.....ummm it's already September and I can't find anything in regards to Derek and Jaike.
BDSM is not really my cup of tea, but I love Marian Tee's book. I was expecting majorly explicit scenes, but this is actually pretty mild...which is just fine by me. It has an interesting plot. Unfortunately, it was too short and felt too incomplete.
I really enjoyed the story of Jaike and Derek. It was eye open to the Dom/ Submissive lifestyle but also the question of what submission is without going too deep. Angelo's story at the end was a nice twist. Can't wait to read the conclusion!
