Excellent instruction and idea book for both the experienced weaver and those who are new the art. Rigid needle looms are a great way to see if weaving is for you, to make small items, try out different techniques or to take your obsession with you when you travel.
Betty Linn Davenport's writing style is easy to read, and the book contains great illustrations and a good amount of photographs.
This is the book I would include if I were giving my daughter a gift of a rigid needle loom.

I read some of this book every year. Every year when I get out my loom to weave something, I pull out the book. Since I only hemstitch once a year, I ALWAYS have to look at the directions.
Here's hoping I get the kitchen curtains done by the end of the month. Then, the big loom goes up!

It also serves as a good reference. The examples given for samplers and projects are fine. However, I am not a fan of garments made from hand-weaving. They tend to be boxy and shapeless. A better solution is to make a nice wrap or scarf to show off your weaving. There is also a method given to weave a sample before start ...more
