It should have been so much better than that. One character seemed to be nothing more than a super-rich frankly half-boring do-gooder. The other was just compulsively incapable of just speaking with her son, that she treated as if he were still 4 or 5 years old instead of 13 - honestly she deserved every small wrong doing her son did. She did not communicate with her former husband either, though they allegedly went to marriage counselling. And she did not try communicating with her new neighbor ...more

I love the plot but the constant switching between point of views is difficult

Epitomizes what is wrong with novellas.
Too shallow, too trite, too quick. Just too many things wrong.

There was nothing horrible about it; there was just nothing good about it, either.

More of a promo piece for a teen program.

There were also formatting issues, misspelled words and run together words.

Good Neighbors Can Make Great Families!

After a bit of a slow start to this series the books are getting stronger, better and more exciting. I really enjoyed this story that shows faith and an open heart really can lead to happy endings.

"Under different circumstances, Meredith Lange was someone he would've wanted to see more of. But all he wanted right now was to see her gone."

Oh, it's a funny thing when paths collide. Or even when fate steps in.

Meredith and her teenage son were left with a mess after her late husband left them with tons of debt and broken hearts. The only thing she still had was a getaway cabin and the start of a new life.

Too bad that cabin already had a new owner...Jed Banks. He wasn't going to let someone

Sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Meredith moved her and her teenage son from her city home to her family's cabin in a small town after the death of her husband and losing everything because of his gambling debts. Shortly after getting there, she meets her neighbor, Jed, who 'bought' her cabin and land. So he takes legal steps to evict her then finds out that he was swindled by Meredith's husband and doesn't really own the land. Jed and Meredith are attracted to each other and ...more

Another beautiful story by Sheila Roberts.

Poor Meredith is left to pick up the pieces of her broken life after the death of her husband. His death leaves her a single parent to her young son and his enormous gambling debts leave her without a penny to her name and no choice but to move into their vacation cabin, the only property she has left to call home. Or so she thought. When Jed Banks shows up at her front door one night to find out what she's doing in HIS cabin her life takes another nose

This short story starts off with a a case of if you didn't have bad luck you would have no luck. This poor young widowed woman with a son feels she is a double loser already when it comes to men because the second man she allowed to get close to her heart wrapped his car around a tree in a drunken stooper. After, puuting her so far in gamblers debt she can't see the light of day. Her only thing left is the cabin gifted to them by her parents so she moves there with her son. Now to find out after ...more

This book was a nice fast read. I felt bad for Leo and Meredith. To have someone basically steel from you to feed there addiction regardless of what it is, is terrible. I loved the part where Leo defended his mother in his own 12 year old way. The story felt rushed at some point and sort of lacking. Jed wanted Meredith and his camp. Of course you saw the route that issue was going to take. It was a good storyline but it was all very cookie cutter and fast.

Adversaries who turn into lovers is a very common twist on the friends to lovers type of romance .

Sometimes it is hard to roll with what life dishes out and sometimes we find the hardest moments turn into the sweetest ones we never expected to enjoy again.

Readers like myself have learned that with some of life's hardest lessons we learn what will either make us stronger or totally break us in two.

The story was cute, a novells around Icicle falls. A newly single mom, who is unlucky in love moves her tern age son to I.F. to start over. A legal misunderstanding brings a handsome man into her life. It is a whirlwind courtship.
The editing was horrible and if it wasn't a favorite author I might have stopped reading.

While this book was shorter than I normally like to read, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with how it flowed and left me wanting more. Loved the build up of the characters and getting the feeling of actually knowing them which normally won't happen in a relatively short book. Very please reader.

A quick novella that comes in at 77 pages on Goodreads. Rarely I can find a novella that I enjoy enough to give it a high rating. Usually there isn’t enough to the story to grab on to, but this one surprised me. The only downfall to the story was the Hero. I didn’t quite connect to him as much as I would have liked.

This is a short romance story set in Icicle Falls, WA which the author has used as a setting for some of her other books. Meredith Lange is newly widowed with a teen son trying to start over, but comes into conflict with Jed Banks regarding the true ownership over her cabin. Some of the character interactions seemed a bit simplified, but this was an okay read.

I give this a 3.5. I would have given it more but struggled when he was willing to forgive her debt to him before they were a couple. The cost of a property is way too much money to be like, never mind! Other than that it was a good story.

This is a good short read. A woman's extreme bad luck with love almost looses her everything. Luckily a eviction/law suite wins her everything.
The youth for youth program sounds wonderful. Wish we had on here for my pre-teen daughters

Great inspiration for this book. We need more of that. More organizations that help the youth, more people working on it, and more writers writing about it.

the editing needs work, but it's a cute story line. Not sleazy at all... just a good clean little book. Somewhat predictable however.
