I picked this up at NewYork ComicCon 2013. It was such an interesting cover and the girl who was there signing (the illustrator) was so cute and exciting in explaining it I could not resist.

I am a comic book collector, as well as a book reader so this was perfect.

It is 23 pages and two chapters. It is about a teenager, Destiny Harper, who has her High School graduation coming and nothing on the horizon. so she goes to her favorite place - The Knight Pawn - an antique store, where she feels at ho

I bought this at the NYC BookCon last week because the cover was appealing and the name sounded like fun. I'm not much of a graphic novel reader but I've been trying to find at least one I like. This one was the wrong one to buy.

Despite the fact that it's written for little kids, the dialog is way TOO silly and sometimes it doesn't even make sense. It feels as if nothing was connected to what was said before. It's like... someone asks a question and then next text is

A very cute and funny intro to the world of Vamplets. Welcome to Gloomvania indeed!
Definitely keen to see where this all goes and how Destiny copes when she finally meets the little terrors at Nightmare Nursery.

There’s a new and strange phenomenon happening in the supernatural world of Gloomvania. Vampires, merely by expressing their love, are manifesting babies. Since most of them were not expecting children, they simply cannot spend the 777 years it takes to raise a vampire baby. So they are sent off to a home. The little vamps, werewolves, and other adorable ghoulish creatures are a handful. One loves to invent, one is psychic, one is a destructive artist, and another is, yes, a baby vampire weapon’ ...more

An adorable graphic novel with tongue in cheek humor and a gorgeous color palette for young readers.

Having a hell of a time with this review, been a few days since I finished it. I really like it but the ending felt unfinished to me, sort of. Don't want to spoil so you will have to read it and see for yourself. The story was interesting and at the same time unique. Like any graphic novel things seemed to move quickly though the chapters. The art work was very well done and added to the richness of the story. The characters were lovable and kooky. Nothing cuter than Vampire Babies. ...more

Do you like My Little Pony? How about Littlest Pet Shop? Maybe Monster High? Then this is the book you must have to quench your taste as it pretty much takes all three, adds a child-friendly macabre twist and wraps around it an exciting story. It takes everything that is liked, animals, fantasy, and humans, and makes this a fun and entertaining story for all ages!

The book is fully colorized with high glossy pages and the use of color schemes provides an exquisite fantasy appeal, while the story

I actually got this as part of a Kickstarter promotion so i got the one with the limited Convention cover. It collects the first 2 issues of the comic book series.

This is a very light comic series. Vampire(and other monsters) are having babies spontaneously appear. Since they do not want to raise these little monsters(it takes 777 years to raise a baby vampire), they are all being dumped into the nursery. So where will they get a nursery keeper? Why naturally go to the mortal world and get a tee

The caretakers of the Nightmare Nursery in Grimmvania have had it with their charges. They decided to search the outworld for a replacement. Meanwhile in the land of the living, young Destiny Harper is unsure what she wants to do with her life. She is somewhat of a loner and is tired of her job at Hotdog on a Stick. As she is browsing her favorite vintage thrift shop a necklace draws her attention. After purchasing it, the trinket garners the attention of the seeker from Grimmvania. Now Destiny ...more

I bought this novel at a convention. As I was purchasing this novel and Princeless, an ~8year old girl shows up to show the creators of the series her fan art for the books--which was really quite good and completely adorable.

It's pretty easy to turn back time and read this novel with your own 8-year-old frame of mind. Yes, I would have loved this. Yes, it is a perfect segway between babysitter's club and R.L. Stein/Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark/etc. The art is even classic middle-schooler

I picked this up today at Scholastic on the grounds that the cover alone will make it popular with students in grades 4-5. I read it because it was with teen books, do I needed to make sure it was OK for them. So, it was fine for older elementary kids. It is the story of Destiny Harper, a misfit teen girl who finds herself hoodwinked into becoming the nanny for the vampire, zombie, and werewolf babies of Gloomvania. I found the story a bit confusing - which I often find graphic novels to be - bu ...more

This graphic novel is aimed at young girls who enjoy reading supernatural stories. The graphics are pink, and purple. The concept seems to be about how challenging it can be to babysit vampire babies without making mistakes that may risk the main characters life. Destiny has to find a way out the supernatural world safely without risking her life. The only way she can succeed is coming up with a strategy to take care of the vampire babies in her care. Altogether the story was meh. It is a typic ...more

When Destiny Harper answers an ad for the Night Care Nursery, it binds her contractually to take the job. Which is how she finds herself transported to Gloomvania and being forced to care for the children of monsters. A job she is woefully unprepared for. Which is unfortunate, because failure can mean termination...of life. The art is cute, but the story felt a bit rushed. The book would have benefited had it been a bit longer, with room for more details.

I bought this book at our school's book fair to expand my classroom library.

I don't like graphic novels but my students do. I was glad to see this isn't manga although it shares several of the characteristics. Several parts, though, seemed to be skimmed over, including references to other books where I could find the missing information.

Cute graphics but I just don't get it. Maybe y students will.

This was a cute, light read. The graphics are completely adorable. The dialogue could use some work, but I got the impression that it's *supposed* to be silly. I met the illustrator, Amanda Coronado, at Anime Matsuri 2014 and she was just so nice I just had to buy something from her booth, so I'm glad I picked this graphic novel. ...more

Despite the niche this book fills, it falls woefully short. I was looking forward to girl targeted graphic novel without being too sappy. But this was confusing, missing panels of info to make the story flow. It ends before the story really gets started. It spends more pages telling you what covers they thought about for the book but didn't go with. ...more
