Even years after Rizzo Berg’s lover and Dom died in combat, the memories torment him. Following a particularly disappointing date, Rizzo goes to sleep in his apartment only to wake up on a spaceship with tall, gorgeous, alien Captain Conrad D’Ollet of Heracia, a man so deliciously dominant Rizzo’s knees turn to jelly.

Apparently the Heracians need help, and Rizzo is a human

With a very interesting futuristic world, and two fascinating main characters, one of whom is an alien, as well as a good plot and some really funny observations, this book pulled me in from the beginning. The Heracian species is a somewhat unusual (in my experience) race of half-humanoid and half-technological beings who are struggling for survival. Not letting the machine-half take over and keeping just enough of a "biological" view on the world is a struggle for them, and the very real risk o ...more

I just LOVED this! Great world building, great snarky fun characters, and quick moving plot made for a fun read that I couldn't put down. I just loved Riz and his snarky attitude...he was perfect for Sparky, oops... Conrad hehe. I thought this was a fantastic debut story, I really loved the sci fi elements and thought this was just great. It reminded me of a bit of Mark Alders' Border Worlds Saga, but obviously with people instead of spiders haha. I would definitely love to read more set in this ...more

Rizzo Berg is tormented by memories of his lost lover and Dom who died in combat years before. After yet another in a string of really disappointing dates, Rizzo goes to sleep in his apartment and wakes up on a spaceship with an alien Captain Conrad D’Ollet of Heracia, a man so dominant Rizzo’s knees turn to jelly. The Heracians need help, and Rizzo is a humanitarian, and the perk of spending more time around Conrad isn’t one of the reasons he offers that help, right? They seem made for each oth ...more

A really great book by a new author to me. Fantastic SciFi world building along with two of the strongest characters I've read in a while make this more than worth a read. The blurb is a bit misleading - this is not a typical capture/slave type story where there is a bunch of non con and such. This is a capture/abduction story but it circles round and Rizzo (the guy who gets captured) is a snarky, strong man who is not about to let someone get one over on him. He's not obnoxious though and the d ...more

An amusing tale of a human being brought to another planet to be a breeder.

I quite enjoyed this.

Most of the relationship building was through sex, as far as I can see. Eventhough there was a story, there was still a plot-what-plot feel as I was reading through this book. The world building was minimal. Just enough to highlight the differences between Heracians and Humans.

This is a nice, light and easy read if you like a little sci-fi with your erotica.

I only picked this book because 1) I wanted something scifi and 2) the author is an AOM choice this month.

That said, holy cow I'm so glad we have that challenge because I really, really liked this story and I'd have probably never run across it otherwise!

Here I was, expecting I'd get some space alien abduction/dub-con/breeder smut...and it turned out to be an emotional roller coaster, and a very thought-provoking read. (That also had some excellent alien abduction smut.)(Just sayin'.)

DSP is hit or miss but I’m extremely pleased I seem to have hit with this choice. The writing is smooth, engaging, and interesting while there is a considerable amount of hot sex, almost too much. I’m not complaining as this is smutty good fun with some solid writing and decent, if sketchy, world building. As far as sci-fi/erotica offerings go, I quite enjoyed this quick novella and would definitely go back for more from this author.

The story is about Rizzo, a disgruntled human who gets kidnappe

Rizzo can’t seem to find It with a man, something is always missing and the memory of piercing black eyes haunts him, after another disastrous date with another man who doesn’t have It he sinks into sleep, only to wake up aboard the spaceship of Captain Conrad D’Ollet. Conrad is sent to Earth to retrieve the human Rizzo Berg, he is a perfect genetic match for the Heracians, but his personality is one they haven

Liv Olteano’s The Heracian Affair has me a bit perplexed. I know I liked it but don’t know how to sum it up in a tidy package. Rizzo Berg was ambling around in his love life. No one he met had that certain something. No one had it, whatever it is. Then he was kidnapped by aliens. Surely it could happen to anyone. The Heracians are a genetically engineered race that needs a new influx of DNA. Many of them see their offspring die at birth or during infancy. Rizzo saw it as the horror it is

Wow, wow, WOW!!
what a fucking delicious book!! OMG! I really can't get over how much I loved it.

And my dear faint of heart readers, this is a book you most definitely CAN read. It's not all scary/Hard Core BDSM. It's just spicy enough to make things explode in the bedroom and make you have an iced cup of water. LOL!

I was instantly drawn into the book with Riz's sass and snarky attitude. I personally didn't feel it came off annoying, I was actually laughing through the parts where his full Diva s

Recommends it for: the galaxy
How do you go from your lovely apartment to a space ship and an alien planet? Why me? That's what Rizzo Berg wants to know. They need him to help procreate the planet's population that has been devastated by war. Maybe it won't be so bad, since Rizzo is experiencing a strong attraction to his captor Captain Conrad D’Ollet.

If you like quirky fun, great internal dialogues, and hot sex, have I got a book for you! This is my third book by Liv Olteano. I am so enjoying her style and characters. Sta

The Heracian Affair is a story built for love that is beautifully written. It captures the level of insanity love can bring along with an unquestionable amount of humor.

Rizzo is hiding behind failed attempts at relationships in hopes of pushing back loneliness. His heart was lost long ago when his love was taken from him. Only his snarky, confident and aggressive attitude holds him together through all his numerous one

This book grabbed hold of my attention from the very first page and never let go. Sci-fi stories can be good, but rarely knock my socks off. I was caught very pleasantly off guard when this one rocked my world!

For a relatively short story, this one managed to create a fascinating alternate world with two of the more interesting main characters I’ve read about in a while. Heracians are part human, part alien beings – the alien part being made up of AI technology

Here is a real 1950s high-camp SF romp -- a good-natured spoof of the genre that also has some solid world-building on the side, and characters that are surprisingly “deep” when you consider this is a story with a lot of the tongue-in-cheek features of good ol’ Buck Rogers!

I’ve read more SF than you can shake a stick at, and am always keen to check out new titles that look like they might offer the real McCoy with a thread of same-sex romance. The Heracian Affair is built on solid, time-honored

I am not sure how I got from point A (hot guy missing someone from his past and filling the darkness with strangers) to point B (alien abduction), but once I overcame the whiplash, I had some fun. The author has some wicked atmosphere-creating skills - the characters had a lovely chemistry between them, there were a number of very hot and heavy, and very emotional as well scenes... However, again both the beginning and the end felt somewhat rushed. I want to read something longer! I definitely f ...more

This was an interesting read. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't expecting what I got lol..

The author has created an interesting universe here. The idea of aliens needing humans to be able to reproduce might not be n unique one, but it was made fresh by other ideas and reasons. In all honesty, I would have loved to have had more information about the world itself. I found that slightly lacking to be honest. And the ending seemed rushed with the epilogue having a slight "tacked on" kind o

I really enjoyed this book. The world building was good, the characters were great and I loved the epilogue. The bdsm was mild but it was hot! Only one thing seemed slighly off to me and that was that Riz didn't miss anyone or have any regrets or deep feelings about leaving earth, I felt it was glossed over a little bit. However not enough to ruin the story.

Having said that in my humble opinion this book is well worth reading.

I enjoyed this one. The story wasn't without its faults - there were some plot points that could've used some polishing or fleshing out - but all in all, it was an entertaining read. Helped too that Riz and Conrad were super hot together, firing up some of the pages deliciously. Will definitely keep this author in my sights.

3.75 Stars rounded up.

I waffled back and forth on this book for quite some time. Then it was chosen for me in a challenge (Thanks https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3...) and I must say I really enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of BDSM but there was a lot more plot than sex and the sex scenes were well written and integral to the story.

This one was just okay for me. There wasn't much depth to the characters and you didn't really get to know them. So it was a purely surface read which I don't normally enjoy since it doesn't make you feel anything. But as a first book it was a job well done. I'd definitely read the second one.

Fabulous book! I loved everything about it. The plot flows so effortlessly and the characters are so real. I especially love Rizzo. He's the kind of MC I could never get tired of.

this book is rushed... too many ideas, not enough pages.

Rizzo is having a shitty day. Actually he's having a shitty few years and he doesn't appreciate being kidnapped by aliens. There's someone who may change his mind about the whole affair thought and that's a very hot and dominant captain of the ship.
Both men quickly find they look forward to their constant battles and their relationship keeps evolving.

I liked the worldbuilding and the the idea of the Heracian race. They were an interesting bunch and I wouldn't mind reading more about them.
