Let me say, I am packing my bags and moving to Sam Amaro now! First Matt/Corey/Dylan in With Strings Attached and now we meet the new neighbors down the way…Jules/Mike/Carlos. What do they put in the water down there? I need to find out and have that stuff bottled or pumped into MY house. In With Strings Attached, book one in the San Amaro singles series, we meet Jules Stockwood briefly. We know she is best friends with Matt’s little sister Neve and that she has a reputation to rival Rizzo from Grease.
How to Love is told in the perspective of our threesome; Jules is a free spirited, free loving independent photographer with her own studio in San Amaro. She primarily focuses her craft on natural landscapes but lately, her latest focus is on nudes. When she meets her new neighbor Mike Lacasse, she is instantly attracted and so is he. Jules wants to photograph him of course, who wouldn’t and possibly explore a bit more but the thing that Jules doesn’t know about Mike; he is in a relationship with Carlos, his “roommate” and best friend. The pull between Jules and Mike is undeniably strong so it’s a good thing Carlos is okay with Mike being with someone else or better yet sharing her with him.
While we know that Jules is open minded we also learn the yin to her yang is that she is also closed off. Sex is fine but relationships are a drag. She doesn’t do them, doesn’t have time for them but her reasons for avoiding relationships run strong and deep within her and she doesn’t like sharing them. She would rather skirt the issue at hand, the real feelings, with sex than deal with it.
Carlos and Mike are in a committed relationship but they have always been looking for “the one” to fully complete them. Maybe Jules is it? If she could just get out of her head and into their…well you know where this is leading.
The dynamic between this triad is not felt right away. We get the connection, the attraction and the friendship that turns into a relationship (regardless of the want of certain participants) with Mike and Jules as we tries to woo her slowly before he tells her the truth about his “friendship” with Carlos but as Mike starts to fall for Jules the lines get blurred. Mike is falling hard, Jules is confused and Carlos finally gets to dance the dance and wants this to move on. Can they move on? Will Jules open up and let this happen or will she run at the first mention of commitment? She can barely handle one man but two? You have to put the training wheels on before you can ride, test runs are a must…can I toss any other cliché’s out there? No, just know this…
So, where were we? Ah…Jules is all for a threesome but once again, she does not do relationships. Through pointed edges and repressed feelings this threesome comes together and comes together and well, just comes, but when emotions bubble up to the surface and spill out, the three sides fall apart and no one is safe. How can a delicate relationship flourish if they don’t give it a chance?
How to Love was a great read. Of course I have a thing for m/m action but tossing a girl in the middle can only be a plus and this author knows how to write a good sexual sammich. Goodness, does she ever. But the sex, while it was hot, sensual and full of steam it was not the focal point of the book. Deep down, under all the bodies How to Love was simply, a lesson to be learned. A lesson of love; how to love and how to let yourself be loved. With Jules, Carlos and Mike and the journey together as a threesome, as two couples and as individuals they learn to accept one another for who they truly are as well as accept themselves with faults and all and learn to love.

I had no respect for boys who I could get to do whatever I wanted. Guys in high school were easy to manipulate. It was easy to manipulate them because of how I looked. I knew what they wanted. I knew hot to get what I wanted.

The guy who wasn’t afraid of anything was afraid to hope.

Each book in the San Amaro Singles series can be read as a standalone which is what I did, I jumped right into book two I am sure I will go back and read book one, With Strings Attached, but it was book two that grabbed my attention when I was look at the three of them. You ask why, well that's simple it was a menage with two men already in a committed relationship looking for a woman to share their love with and the woman wanted no part of a relationship so she thought a fun menage with no feelings was just her thing, I had to see how this would play out.
Jules was a hard character for me to connect with but that doesn't mean I didn't like her because I did, I just didn't understand her. She uses sex as a way of manipulation and never shows her feelings to anyone, if you ask me that has to lead to a very lonely life; but hey Jules seems to love it.
Mike and Carlos have been together for a few years and although they are in a committed relationship they feel a third would complete them, interesting since they haven't found the right person yet but then they move next door to Jules and they both know right away that she's the one...now all they have to do is convince her of that.
This was a HOT read with plenty of MF, MM, MFM, and MMF action. As I mentioned this was a good story even though I had a hard time connecting with some of the characters. Would I recommend this book, yes I would. Who would I recommend it to, well....anyone that enjoys menage/triad/poly relationships, also anyone that is curious as I was on how a committed couple would bring a third into the relationship in order to complete it. This is one of those books that I don’t even know where to begin with the review. I loved this book so much that prior to starting the review I read it twice because I wanted to make sure my feelings were accurate. I can’t even put my finger on why it resonated so much with me other than the heroine has my dream job and although I never had the family issues she’s dealing with I understand and sympathize with her. I agree with how she feels in regards to people poisoning the minds of young children about body issues and I appreciate the fact that no matter how hard it was for her she changed her life to make herself happy or at least happier. How To Love by Kelly Jamieson is without a doubt one of those books that will stick with me a long time and one I know I will revisit frequently.
Jules is a photographer running a small studio and gallery in San Amaro, California. It hasn’t been easy but she likes her life although she’s feeling a little restless about her work. While her landscapes are selling okay, what most people seem to want to buy are her sensual nudes. Problem is she can’t afford to pay a model and the one friend she’s asked to pose has turned her down. So, when her new neighbor brings some misdelivered mail to her door she knows she’s just discovered her next subject…she just has to get him to agree.
Mike is enthralled with his new neighbor the minute he meets her and although he’s in a relationship with his business partner and housemate, Carlos they’ve always enjoyed female companionship as well. They’d love to find a third to round out their relationship but Mike feels they must move slowly so as to not panic Jules.
This is one of those really tricky stories because at the heart of it you have a long term committed couple who wants to add a third. Although they’ve experimented with this in the past, it’s always been short term. Then you have Jules who freely admits she likes sex and has no intentions of ever settling down. Jules has a lot of baggage which she will not discuss but Mike is perceptive and sees a lot about her in her work. This book doesn’t play out in the typical fashion of so many I’ve read with this type of plot line, it is intricate and they climb many mountains both literally and physically and have some serious falls as well. Between Jules trying to come to grips with her family issues and her conflicting feelings towards both men and Mike and Carlos trying to maintain what they’ve always had while learning to accept and deal with Jules it becomes quite messy for awhile. I’ll admit there was a point when I wondered if I was going to like the ending which of course kept me up reading way later than I should have been.
So as to not disappoint anyone, yes there is sex in this book, a lot of sex in various configurations; M/M, M/F, and M/M/F. These three have no hang ups regarding sharing and pleasing themselves and each other and Kelly Jamieson writes some truly beautifully orchestrated love scenes (even in the great outdoors)! In addition, Jules convinces both men to pose for her so she can photograph them and these scenes are some of my favorites because yes, I would have loved to have been the one behind her camera! These scenes as sexy as they are sensual and they are a feast for the mind.
I’m so glad this book is part of a series because that means we’ll hopefully see these three again as this series plays out. Not that the ending wasn’t satisfying…it was, but I just know these three will remain in my mind for some time and I hope to see how their relationship is progressing. This wasn’t one of those books where everyone was happy from start to finish, these three were put through the emotional wringer on more than one occasion and it took communication, understanding, tears, and trust to break down the walls to work towards an outcome that pleased all of them. How To Love is gritty, emotional, sexy, and real and Kelly Jamieson has once again blown me away!

A photographer with her own small gallery and studio, Jules has found her standard work has gotten a little stale. Her photography sells, but the few nudes she has done are flying off the walls. The problem is finding willing models willing to volunteer their time, since she doesn't have money to pay them.
When Jules bumps into her neighbour, Mike, the first thing she thinks of is getting him in front of the camera.......naked. Mike, a bit apprehensive to say the least, visits her gallery to check out her work and is surprised by the intense response he has to the images. They are quite beautiful and convey a depth of emotion that he would not have immediately attributed to his flirtatious new neighbour, and he eventually concedes to modelling for Jules.
Mike and Carlos are partners in business and in life. They love each other, but miss a woman in their relationship. So far they haven't been very successful at any attempts at a serious ménage relationship.
When both men find themselves attracted to Jules, they decide to approach things carefully.
Jules doesn't commit, she enjoys sex and she won't turn down a three-some, but she just doesn't do relationships. Now a ménage with two men who apparently are in a committed relationship already, should be safe enough for her, so she jumps right in. She even manages to have both men model for the camera in a beautiful sequence of loving images.
But when family gets involved, emotions are being brought up, and feelings are getting hurt, Jules gets out of there as fast as she can! She never meant for that to happen.....
Now Mike and Carlos are left hurt, confused and at odds and not sure whether there is anything they can salvage........

Jules, darling, so repressed.......for all of her outward sexuality and openness, she is emotionally stunted. And the beauty is, the boys can see through her layers of bravado and attempts at sexual manipulation and call her on it and they scare her, because they see too much of her. Mike is the gentle analyst, and Carlos is the challenger, and each in their own way try to get Jules to face her issues head on. With these two men, just one won't do it.......you absolutely need both.......for the perfect balance!!!!
I'm still sitting here, about an hour after I finished reading the book, a little stunned, thinking......sighing.
Most beautiful ménage story, in all its complexity......

Mike and Carlos are in the closet gay, not many know… They own a company called Intrepid Adventure Tours offering adventurous tours to people. They move into a fixer-upper next to Jules.
Jules is a photographer that has a gallery and her photography seems to be a popular hit, especially her erotic shots.
Mike feels an attraction to Jules as soon as he meets her. But it isn’t until the welcoming party at the beach that Carlos finally meets her and he finds himself attracted to her as well. Mike and Carlos may be involved with each other and have had some threesomes in the past but no one stuck around and they both are hoping that Jules is the one that will stick around…
But Jules only does sex, not relationships. As soon as the discussion of babies and such she is gone… She feels attracted to the both of them as well…
Jules asks Mike if he would be willing to pose for some erotic photo but will he? Will the three of them “hook-up”?
My Thoughts:
The book may be a part of series but thing is I have never heard of this author and the book read like a single not series (a BIG thumbs up and YAY in this readers opinion). I liked how the author put different POVs of the main characters of the book.
The descriptions that the author used in the book inspired me to be creative and create a collage of the book itself (the framed pictures that I used in the collage are representing the images that the author described in the book of the ones that Jules had in her gallery. The one of the runaway ballerina reminded me of Jules character herself, running away from feeling and such.)
Overall I found the book to be an enjoyable read and this is one author that I will be interested in reading more books from.

Two bisexual guys are in love and hope to find one day their third female that will complete their life. So far, pretty much the same intro as any other m/m/f menage story, so I was good. Although I am always a bit reserved to believe that a third coming years after the males committed to each other will not turn into a sex toy or will get equal attention and love.
Sadly, I hardly connect with 2 out of 3 characters and the heroine was one of them. I wanted to love them but in the end I did not. The heroine frustrated me because she never wanted to open up until the very end of the story. I felt she was stubborn to the core and that bothered me.

3.5 stars. This book was a good read but didn't compare to One Wicked Night and Rule of Three. I really enjoyed the characters and plots in those stories so I was surprised to find myself not as emotionally invested in the HEA in How to Love. So, if you're new reader of KJ books, I would those books instead of this one.

January 27, 2022Good things come to those that wait. When I finished reading the first in this series, With Strings Attached, I was so sad for Dylan. I was miffed that the 2nd book in the series didn’t continue with Dylan’s story. But this book was so amazing that I quickly forgot my irritation and was fully engaged in the story.
This was a unique threesome book in the sense that it began with two bisexual men looking to add a woman to their relationship. They’re not just looking for a wild one-nighter. They want the real relationship, but that’s not easy. Mike worries about pushing Jules too quickly into a relationship. Jules fears all relationships. And Carlos is afraid to hope that a relationship is possible.

This was a unique threesome book in the sense that it began with two bisexual men looking to add a woman to their relationship. They’re not just looking for a wild one-nighter. They want the real relationship, but that’s not easy. Mike worries about pushing Jules too quickly into a relationship. Jules fears all relationships. And Carlos is afraid to hope that a relationship is possible.

Basically the characters tweaked from the first book but with mmf HEA and not the mfm erotica with the mf HEA of the first book. 1 careful planner guy, 1 risk taker guy, 1 girl afraid of emotional intimacy or relationships. Except in this book, they ALL end up together. Same hang-ups, slightly different details.
I haven't given this more stars as I wasn't really comfortable with the way the relationship developed. I didn't like that the guys never told the female they were a committed couple looking for a 3rd for so much of the story. I thought if she knew earlier that more of the 3 way relationship could have happened on page rather than the mostly mf the reader experiences.

Jules honestly got on my nerves. I appreciate how she embraces her sexuality & feels empowered by it, but I didn’t like how she weaponized it to manipulate people so much. This girl needs therapy! Stat!
Mike & Carlos are great though it seems like their communication & bond could need some work. I’d have liked to see more tender moments and affection between them too.
I did find the descriptions of Jules’s photography to be fantastic. I could really visualize the beauty and depth of her work. Her dad & stepmom are awful people though. Yuck!

While I liked the guys I did not like Jules at all but I understand the character better. There was more three way sex and him and her than him and him which was just a little disappointing.

If I never hear the words “liquid heat” again, it’ll be too soon. The story itself was interesting, but there was something unbearably cringy about the way sex scenes were written. Giving 2 stars cause I obviously liked it enough to finish it.. I just really wish it had been written better.

This was a fun, sexy read. Jules has an erotic art studio and is unabashed about her work. She lusts after her sexy neighbors and is thrilled to find out that they are a couple and open to having her join in.

Well written, and the male characters are great. But you have to get past a pretty unlikeable female lead who uses sex to get what she wants. Makes her seem emotional abusive to get her way.

I was given this book by the publisher for review. I actually do adore this author’s work and have had her on several events on the blog. I wouldn’t let this influence my opinion of her work.
I really did enjoy this one though I’ll admit I had reservations about it at first. Having read other books where an established couple gain a third, and seen authors destroy relationships for the new ones, I was worried about how this one would pan out. I liked Mike and Carlos as a couple and couldn’t do anything other than worry that they would invite a character such as Jules into their relationship. She wasn’t long-term relationship and that was a recipe for disaster.
Mike and Carlos were a couple I adored. Both quite dominant personalities, the dynamic between them was quite fascinating to watch. Both bi-sexual, they had long since decided that they needed a woman to be a part of what they had, as they felt they were missing something. I worried about this. I liked the fact they had openly discussed it and agreed to it but the fact that they weren’t enough for each other made me worry there was something intrinsically wrong with them. Once they picked Jules, I thought I was reading the beginning of the end!
Jules is not a character that I wanted to put into the relationship with Mike and Carlos. She was blatantly not looking for anything other than sex, even going so far as to admit to breaking up with previous partners for starting to get serious. I knew from the offset what Mike and Carlos wanted and it wasn’t what Jules was willing to give. I worried I was reading another self-destruct ménage! She was likeable as a individual character but I struggled with her self-enforced single status as I felt she was closing me to the rest of her.
One thing that I did not enjoy was the deception. Mike started a relationship with Jules under the guise of wanting something casual and completely omitting his relationship with Carlos. I do not enjoy deceptive characters and this did annoy me. I am glad that this only took up a small portion of the book or I may not have managed to finish it.
The sex in this book was amazingly well written. Whether it is MM, MF, MMF or MFM, the sex is scorching hot and full of emotion. There is no combination of pairings that I preferred AFTER they all got together. Before, I felt a little too sorry for Carlos to let myself enjoy it as anything other than just sex. It was all a little heart-breaking for me to see Carlos not be able to be with his partner or Jules and find himself completely alone. Once they started the ménage, I really started to get into it and boy did it leave me needing a cold shower! All three are into this and all three are willing to try anything... I just love sexually liberated characters :)
Of course, I was reading this completely expecting the shit to hit the fan and it did. I knew it was coming but I hated that I was right. I had no idea what to expect from the ending as, in the past, an authors version of a HEA is not the one I wanted. I was scared!
Overall, this is a book that conflicted the crap out of me. It hit some of my angry buttons but it pulled so many emotions from me, I was destined to enjoy it. With sexy, angsty characters having scorching hot sex, there was no way I was going to be able to put it down :)

Three and half stars. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but it quickly began to drag and I found myself bored until the story picked up again for the last third. Unlike the first book in the series, there was no entertaining banter and the details of how the characters spent their work day were dull.
Although this is supposedly a story about three people, it is really Jules' story. We learn a lot about her past and what makes her tick. She is the only character who needs to grow personally in order to find her HAE. The other two guys just have to help her along, as they are pretty much perfect from the get go.
The love between the two males, Carlos and Mike was sweet and believable. However, we learn pretty much nothing about them except to be constantly told that Carlos is impulsive while Mike is a planner. Mike, the planner, gets quite a few scenes alone with Jules and their relationship arc was credible. Carlos doesn't get alone time with Jules and the initial time the three spend together is delivered in narrative summation so the relationship between Carlos and Jules felt like it came out of left field.
Jamieson's One Wicked Night is one of my favorite MMF books but this one is no where near as good.

It was ok. I did listen to the audio version - the narrator was pretty good. I don’t really usually like single narrator books but she did good. The story itself was ok - I didn’t love that Carlos and Mike didn’t let in to Jules they were together. It was odd and it honestly made it hard for me to finish it. I had been really busy at work and holiday obligations so I didn’t have time to find something different to listen for my travels so I finished it. I did speed it up to 1.8x so I could be done with it sooner. Just wasn’t for me.

I take it all back I really enjoy How to Love I would take Mike & Carlos anyday!!!! I love Kelly Jamieson threesome books....wheeew!!! But one down side would be that Carlos seemed like an afterthought...

What I love about this author is that she is able to write good, steamy romances - shorter than I usually like, but still with good complex characters. Good quick steamy read. Sympathetic characters.

Good. Heroine was quite similar to heroine in book 1, in terms of having major baggage that prevents her from having any meaningful relationships. Loved the two heroes. Yummy. The HEA felt well earned.
