an introduction to the English criminal justice system. But the extremely wide range of criminal justice determines that this book is only an overview instead of a deep commentary (for a deeper commentary, pls see Andrew Ashworth's Criminal Process and Lucia Zedner's Criminal Justice).

However, being highly accessible and lucid, this is still a good textbook for students who want to have a general overview of the criminal justice system as a whole or just some parts/concepts of it.
