Slightly paranormal historical Romance set in Early 15th century Scotland conceived and written similar to the novels of Kathleen Woodiwiss. Yes, it is an escapist bodice ripper with a dominant hero. The heroine isn't a fainting flower but she's not anachronistic either.

This is my first Allie Bates book, but I'll be back. This Scottish story went farther back in history than I usually read and I enjoyed that history immensely. Branwyn and Llewellyn are complex and fully drawn characters which is important to me - I felt as though I knew them. No spoilers, I don't do that, but if you're into Scottish Highlander genre, don't miss this one.

This book by Bates, set in 15th century Scotland, is packed with all the things that make for a great historical romance. There’s a handsome hero, a beautiful maiden, passion, danger, intrigue and lots of historical facts. The author brought together two strong characters, one who’s determined to conquer his lady love and a lady love, who is equally determined to remain unconquered. The battle of wills between these two is epic. The author was able to hold my attention by building up the tension ...more

I love a good Medieval Historical. The hero is just YUM! I knew, just knew what the twist would be for the heroine. But it sure did knock the hero on his butt! Characters were good, it felt like I was immersed in Medieval times without the smells and dirt!
A great read. If you like Medieval romances grab this one!
