Danger once again laps at the shores of Barkley Sound, the Graveyard of the Pacific…

Since her rocky childhood and its abrupt, brutal ending, schoolteacher Anna Silver hasn’t given her trust easily. But when her estranged father gets in over his head—again—and winds up dead, his last message to Anna is as clear as it is insistent: she’s in danger and Brent Carver, the man w

Don’t you love it when you randomly pick a winner?

Objectively, it probably doesn't deserve the highest rating.

But so what?

It sure as hell belongs to 'my favorites' shelf and that’s what counts when I rate a book. My book, my enjoyment, my rating, my review.

So it’s not a masterpiece . But it made me happy. Giddy as a little schoolgirl on homecoming night.

Good writing, interesting and believable story, perfect balance of romance and suspense, killer chemistry, no eye-roll inducing momen

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review.

A very, very good thriller.

Anna is the daughter of an ex-con who stole one million dollars but has always claimed that he’s innocent. When her father has been arrested hers and her other’s life has been destroyed. Her mother re-married after a short while. (view spoiler) Anna become very closed, very prim and proper, very repressed person.

I have to admit I enjoyed this book a lot and felt so bad for the heroine's father. The heroine, kind of did annoy me at first but by the end I didn't hate her. The hero was great and spent twenty years and most of his youth in prison for defending his brother. In the past four years he has been out, he is still in that prison in some ways and then the heroine lands on his doorstep, her dad is dead and he told her to go to his old cellie, the hero. The heroine too has a dark past, her life chang ...more

After liking the first book and the character of Brent Carver, I was looking forward to this book. However, it failed to work for me on a number of areas.

First, I really didn't like character of Anna. She just came off as whiney and stupid. Definitely not my ideal heroine.

Secondly, there was way too much internal monologues, mostly filled with excessive angst. It got where I had to skim through for the sake of my sanity.

And where in the first book there was some police work, this novel

So, we have ex-cons... ex-military... ex-husbands and ex-wives... yep... there is a whole lot of back story going on in this mystery/thriller/romance. We also have murder, conspiracy, a couple on the run from a sadistic killer/rapist and an unlikely blooming romance. And to really twist things up a bit... the ex-cons are the "good" guys and the ex-military are the "bad" guys! It's a world gone mad...

The author takes us on deeply sentimental journey of gritty realities with two resolute and courageously scarred characters.

Right from the prologue you are thrown into a conspiracy of intrigue. When a father who’s ex-wife and daughter doubted his innocence when he was convicted of crime many years ago and served 5 years hard time for it finds himself in trouble again he manages to send a message to his daughter to go to the only man he trust, Brent Carver his cell mate from prison, for protecti

4.5 Stars!! Looks like Sandra Brown's got some competition!!

Loved the two main characters, Anna and Brent. She's all gung-ho, guns a blazin', and he's thinks things through. She young and naive, he's got few years on her, 14 to be exact, and whole lot more experience. Great pairing, they both played well off each other.

I hated Anna's mother and had no sympathy for her whatsoever, but her heart ached for him and all the he lost.

The action starts and doesn't stop. Riveting and I want

Received the book in the mail yesterday. The author sent me a copy to review the book for her. This will be my next book to read. Thanks Toni Anderson for my copy of your book. I look forward to reading it and giving you my honest review of it.
I loved going on Anna's and Brent's adventure. Before Anna's father was murdered he sent her a warning message that trouble was coming her way and to contact the only person he ever trusted. Anna has trust issues and Brent thinks he is not good enough for
The second book in the Vancouver Island - Carver Brothers series. Anna Silver receives a message from her father that she needs to go to Brent Carver, the man her father shared a cell with in prison. The only man her father trusted. Anna learns her father is dead and that he sent her something in the mail. She hightails it to Vancouver Island to Brent. Brent takes over and together they try to piece together the mystery surrounding Anna's father's death.

CW: Rape

I don't think I liked this book all that much, and that's a crying shame because it had so much going for it.

This book needed a better content editor, one who isn't afraid to cut things. This book could have been tighter and shorter. As with the previous book Dangerous Waters, there are too many viewpoints. Not head-hopping or anything, it's not confusing, but it is frustrating and unnecessary. And speaking of unnecessary, did we really need to get that detailed rape while in the villain

Anna Silver and her father has had a strained relationship for quite some time. So when she gets a frantic call from him telling her to get out of town and go to Brent Carver's isolated hideaway, she was a little suspicious and angry that he's gotten himself in the same trouble that landed him a stint in prison the first time. When the police rules his death suicide, Anna was sure that her father had stolen money again and killed himself rather than get caught.

Brent Carver has lived a life of a

This was my first book from author Toni Anderson and will not be my last. Dark Waters came at a time when I needed some new and different to read and I was not disappointed. This was a full complete read and if you are looking for something fast paced with mystery, suspense and a little bit of romance, then Dark Waters is the book for you!

Dark Waters is a heart-pounding, exciting and intriguing read. It’s a story of mystery, thriller and romance all wrapped into one and told so very well.

The last thing Anna expects is to receive a frantic message from her father stating that he is in trouble and that he mailed her something. Then shortly after that finds out he is dead. He also let her know that she needs to turn to the only person he trust, Brent, who also happen to be his cell mate in prison for protection.

In Dark Waters, Toni Anderson has created a very competent romantic thriller, with the requisite twists, turns and dashes of heat. From the prologue, we're drawn in to a tale of ex-cons, family attachments, betrayal and budding romance.

Anna is on the run after receiving a voicemail from her father moments before he's killed. She turns up on the doorstep of the one man he trusted, ex-con Brent Carver. Their first meeting is worth the read alone. Even though she heeded her father's warnin

This is the first book I have read by this author and although it might have helped if I had read Dangerous Waters first, it wasn’t all that important, as anything that I needed to know about the characters from that book was explained enough here.

It is a story billed as “romantic suspense” although I would call it more a thriller with a lot of lusty passion. The story itself is good, a lot of action and drama as we follow Anna and Brent on their mission to solve the mystery of Anna’s father’s d
At one point in her life Anna Silver had it all, a loving family, friends, everything a young teenager could wish for. Years later Anna is still trying to heal from her father’s betrayal, her mother’s absenteeism and an act of violence she never saw coming. Finding out her father has died is a shock, but realizing that it was murder and she needs help from his cellmate is another matter altogether.

Brent Carver lives his life sheltered in his home, painting. He served his time and has deemed hims

Anna Silver was so annoying to me that I couldn’t even finish the book. Her “my life is horrible”, “you are a horrible person”, blah, blah, blah attitude really got to me, and I couldn’t connect with her or the story.

I think it could have been great! I was really looking forward to a book about Brent but she ruined it.

This comment by Brent encapsulates what I felt: “And if you’d ever get your head out of your adolescent ass long enough to think about anyone else but yourself, you might have fi

Dear Ms. Anderson:

I picked up Dark Waters because I'd read and enjoyed your 2010 release Sea of Suspicion. As I began to read Sea of Suspicion, I was struck by how much it reminded me of Anne Stuart's Moonrise, albeit with a less wimpy heroine. Both books have a killer for a hero and a daughter in need. Both books have the heroine come to the hero's deserted house at night and have him think she's there to kill him. Both heroines hav

So good!!!

Brent was amazing. I was really curious about him after reading Finn and Hollys story. I was sad he had never moved on from his time in jail. This was a wonderful story about how he survived jail.and the gift of friendship that opens up his future. I really loved the murder mystery part of the plot it was really complex and really had me engaged. I wish Toni would write another about Katherine and Harvey. Bravo Toni great book Write ON!

The last thing Anna Silver expected was a panicked telephone message from her ex-convict father, stating something about having taken money....again.....and running for his life. He also says she is not safe and has to look up his ex-cellmate, Brent Carver, the only other person he trusts in this world. She gets the message just as the police, who have come to notify her of her father's deadly 'accident', leave. Scared witless and not particularly trusting

I'm gonna go ahead and admit that I don't read many romantic suspense novels. I don't know why because I always seem to enjoy them when I do, but there you have it. Dark Waters was everything I could want in a romantic suspense story ~ even if I didn't know what I wanted. :)

Brent Carver spent half his life in prison and the only good things to come out of that experience were his art and his friendship with Davis Silver. Brent carries around an enormous amount of guilt. He also beli

I don't read a ton of romantic suspense. I read a lot of romance, I just don't need the killing and guns in my reading. That said, every once in a while I lean out there and give it a try. I am rarely disappointed, I'm not really sure why I don't go right for it to begin with! Toni Anderson definitely did NOT disappoint!

Dark Waters was a fast paced, chill inducing, heart pounding, suspense book with the added bliss of a romance brewing. There are so many twists and turns that it's hard to even s

DARK WATERS is the second romantic suspense novel I’ve read by Toni Anderson, and like the first, I really enjoyed it. Ms. Anderson has a knack for blending sizzling romance, angsty, well-drawn characters, and nail-biting suspense into a riveting read.

This story begins with Anna Silver receiving a frantic voice mail message from her father just before he dies. He’s an ex-con who’s found trouble again, and now Anna’s life is threatened. Her father tells her to find safety with Brent Carver, a man
