This is an erotic paranormal shifter novella. Justin was burned as firefighter and now finds himself drawn to the sea. He sees a strange shark in the ocean and while scared he is also drawn to it. Naila, whose name means shark, is drawn to this human but afraid. When Victor learns her secret, he is determined to wait for her as Naila won't give up the sea. There are a lot of smexy times and it's a quick read.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

I really enjoyed The Shifter's Kiss. This is the first shark shifter story I have read and while the premise of the Novella was Nali and Victor's affair and the enduring love it ultimately created, the fact that our heroine was a shark shifter was refreshing.

I simply love Caridad's stories! Her heroes are always loyal, steadfast, honorable, and just a little bit battered, and her heroines are consistently strong, independent, and a bit vulnerable. The matches aren't always the classic 'opposites attract' or 'like attracts like', there's always more depth to the pairings and that makes things even more interesting. The Shifter's Kiss was no exception. Victor is a retired and injured firefighter with a heart of gold and a love for the ocean. Nali is a shark goddess who is afraid to lose herself but who desperately wants a lasting love. Together they create sparks like nobody's business and find a compromise that gives them both exactly what they want and need.

Like most PNR Novellas, things moved really quickly with the relationship and the sex in The Shifter's Kiss. That's always my complaint with short PNR stories, sometimes it just doesn't feel realistic. Caridad did a great job with setting the tone immediately and making things all about the connection though, which made the heat enjoyable and the segue into the emotion desired, satisfying, and climactic as well.

Even though it was a quick read, it was all about patience, understanding, compromise and ultimately love, and therefore was a wonderful romance. When things are meant to be, there's nothing you won't do to keep it...

LITERAL ADDICTION gives The Shifter's Kiss 4 Skulls and would definitely recommend it for a quick, sexy, unique shifter read.

I enjoyed this story very much. It was a different kind of story for me. A woman who shapeshifts into a shark. I enjoyed the romance and I was eager to get to the end and see how everything would be resolved.

Unfortunately--and I hate saying this, because I thought the writing and the characters awesome--the end fell flat.
This is merely my humble opinion, but I'm an old-school romance reader. I read these kinds of books because I want the hero and the heroine to overcome the obstacles and be together. Get married and have a family. I didn't feel that this story fulfilled my requirements.

I'm about to put a spoiler alert. In this book, the conflict is that the heroine doesn't want to give up the ocean. If she stays on land too long, she'll lose her ability to shapeshift. However, she wants the hero as well. She winds up leaving for a time, but then in the end of the story, she comes back and the hero accepts that she can't give up the ocean. Thus, he'll be waiting for her when she re-appears on land. I'm left baffled by this. The heroine, from what I understand, can't stay on land for longer than a week. However, she needs at least a week in the water to regain enough strength to go back on land. How on earth can such a relationship work? I can see if she could stay a year. Six months. Maybe even one or two months on land before she has to get back in the water. My overactive imagination is working overtime, thinking that anything less is crazy. Will the hero and heroine get married? Whatbout a family?

Again, this is my opinion. I understand that not all stories, especially romances, will end with all the knots tied. Even more so for a book like this which wasn't even 100 pages. I loved the story. It's just that I didn't feel the satisfaction I usually get from reading a romance when I reached the conclusion.

Sometimes when you follow your dreams love will find its way to you!

A Shifter's Kiss by Caridad Pineiro is a wonderful novella and one that I found thoroughly enjoyable to read

Victor had been a Fire Fighter just as his father before him, but after being burnt saving a child from a burning building Victor knew it was time to stop living his father's dream and start living his.

Nali is one of the last of her kind powerful and larger than the normal sharks that live at the base of the Caribbean reefs, she is as graceful as she is beautiful cutting though the depths of the water with ease.

After leaving his job Victor secures a research grant and heads for the only place he ever really felt free 'The Ocean'. His grant allows him to research the reefs of the Caribbean and that is where he encounters her for the first time the larger than normal shark gliding the depth of the water her beauty and grace enticing him for a closer look. Nali knows she should leave, she knows the danger of coming to close to the human but she is drawn to him and the temptation to touch him urges her forward disregarding the other danger that would cause her harm. When Victor is injured protecting Nali from the spear fishermen Nali must make the decision to either take her human form to save him or leave him on the shore and hope he lives.

Victor can't understand why he is so drawn to the beautiful female shark. As he watches her in the ocean she looks at him with eyes that look almost human. When he returns to shore he dreams of the shark but now as a beautiful woman. Shaken by his dream he returns to the ocean, that's when he realizes trouble and has to save the shark's life. Nali, the shapeshifting shark, can't let the man she has been watching die. She must turn to save his life. But, can she risk him seeing her? Will he try to make her stay?

I enjoyed this story of love, understanding, acceptance and most important patience. Love knows no boundaries and when you find it, you are willing to wait for it. This book is a hot read. The details in the book have you feeling like you are right there with the characters. A great read.
