"Croissants." She said it with a French accent. Absolutely adorable.

"Say that again."

A bashful smile curved her lips. "Are you teasing me?"

"A little. Go on and say it."

She pressed her lips together and made a show of debating whether to grant his request. "Croissants."

This book was actually good, I'm surprised. Taking over after Marie Ferrarella's failure in book 1, The Colton Ransom, Melissa Cutler bangs this one out with great charm and cute dialogue.

Very good book, second in the series. Levi was asked by his half-sisters to come to the ranch and try to get their father to accept medical treatment. He is reluctant because Jethro never claimed him as his son and is still resentful about it. He is immediately attracted to Kate who is the pastry chef for the ranch. Kate is glad to be employed at the ranch because she has a lot of debt to repay. Many of the people she works with/for are pretty obnoxious. Kate is drawn to try to find out who kill ...more

My first ever book by the talented Melissa Cutler was Tempted into Danger, which I very highly recommend. I knew then I was going to be a fan of her writing style. I was very excited to read Colton by Blood.

Kate is the Pastry chef at Dead River Ranch. She has struggled to get out of debt after losing her husband and unborn child in a tragic accident six years ago. She also wants to figure out who could have murdered her best friend Faye Frick, which puts her in the path of a kidnapper and murde

I loved Colton by Blood! It is the second book in the Colton series written by different Harlequin authors. I haven't read the other books in the series, but requested this one because I read Tempted Into Danger by Melissa Cutler and loved it. She is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine after reading my second book written by her. She definit

Who doesn’t like a hot doctor?? Levi Colton has so many qualities that I love in a man. Despite his past, Levi is very loving, caring, and compassionate. I think that his character was just waiting for someone like Kate. Kate has been through a variety of challenges in her past. Despite the adversity, Kate is also a loving and caring individual. She is perfect for Levi.

Melissa Cutler has captured the emotion from both Levi and Kate’s love story perfectly. She has woven mystery and the seducti

This story was really hard for me to get into. I gave it my best shot, but gave up after chapter 5. I’m sure it’s a good book for some of you, but as we all know not every book will interest everyone.

I'm going to come clean right off the bat and admit this is my first "Cowboy" romance book I've read. I have family who are about as country as they come, but my family don't own a ranch and ride horses. They all drive trucks, say "ya'll" and have dogs for pets, but they have all had their challenges with living in the south (Texas) and issues with work like the rest of us. I am glad I could review Colton by Blood as the Colton family is a refreshing take on the typical "country/cowboy" views of ...more

The one thing about a series of books that I don't answer all the mystery in one books and you have to wait for the next book to give you more answers. I was not ready for the story to end I wanted more. I like Levi, he is strong, caring and willing to forgive a lifetime of bad treatment.

This book should have a warning, full of yummy deserts make you just gain weight by reading about Kate the pastry chef at the Dead river ranch. She puts up with a lot so she can pay her debts before she c

Colton Blood is part two of a six book series by Harlequin called Coltons in Wyoming. I have to say that usually, I do not read out of order. Being that Ms. Cutler wrote this installment, I just had to take the plunge. I’m glad I did because it was a great read. Colton Blood has a good murder mystery, plenty romantic and sexy with a dash of foodie.

Levi is not Ms. Cutler’s typical hero. Gone is the rich and dangerous hero, and here comes the “good doctor”. He is kind, honorable and sweet but

My Review:

This is an interesting premise for a series. There are six authors writing six different books that follow the Colton family. There is an over-arcing romantic suspense line and that won't ultimately be solved until the final book.

The Colton family is an extremely wealthy family in Wyoming. There are three daughters, a missing son, and then Levi is an illegitimate son who's never ever been acknowledged by his father. But Levi is a doctor so his half-sisters ask him to come help take ca

Colton By Blood brings together the characters of Kate McCord and Levi Colton. Kate is a hardworking pastry chef working for the rich Colton's of Dead River Ranch. Levi is the unclaimed illegitimate son of Jethro Colton, he's also a doctor. Both Kate and Levi are dealing with tragedies of the past and both have come to the Ranch to heal and move on in one way or another.

I love Kate's silent tho resilient strength. I love how passionate she is about her baking. I can identify with her somewhat a

Colton by Blood is the second book in The Coltons of Wyoming six book continuity in the Harlequin Romantic Suspense line. A quick internet search told me that there have been many books written about the Colton family, none of which I have read except for the first book in this continuity. This lack of knowledge about the Colton family did not hinder, in any way, my enjoyment of Colton by Blood.

Another fantastic book from Melissa Cutler!!!

Levi has lived his entire life with being Jethro Colton’s bastard son. Despite being raised by a drug addicted mother and his father not claiming him or ever contributing financially, he has worked hard to become a doctor and is proud of accomplishing it entirely on his own. He doesn’t want anything from the man who has never wanted him. One of his half sisters shows up begging for him to help his father who is dying from leukemia and who is refusing

In Colton by Blood by Melissa Cutler, Dr. Levi Colton has lived with being branded a bastard and not being wanted or recognized by his own father. Colton by Blood – Mystery and Desserts

Kate McCord a pastry chef on the Dead River Ranch falls for the handsome Dr. Levi Colton. They share their deepest darkest secrets and they also share their love of dessert. The way Melissa Cutler describes desserts is luscious but also down right sinful with words like: “…taste of vanilla, sugar and egg on his tongue, his eyes rolled up and he moaned.” Or “Sweet and lemony and soft…better than crème brulee, and more wicked than peaches.” Yummy in more ways

Colton by Blood is book two by Melissa Cutler in the Colton series written by various Harlequin authors. I picked this up because I’ve read and enjoyed previous titles from Ms. Cutler. I’ll admit, because I didn’t read book one in this series, I was a little loss. But if you’re a determined reader like me, I just powered on and was able to pick up the plot of the previous book with only some confusion. Melissa Cutler writes a wonderfully powerful love story in this book, Colton by Blood.

Levi and Kate are great characters with tons of emotional baggage but their friendship is real and honest and what I like most about them.

The Colton home is very intriguing and everyone who lives there seems to have their own compelling story.

Oh, and there's some kidnappings, accidents, assaults and there's a murderer waiting in the wings.

Great job on this book, Melissa Cutler! I enjoyed it very much.

Levi and Kate both have experienced very deep pain in their lives. They find each other at Dead River Ranch, but both have to give themselves permission to feel and love again. This was the first book I read in this series. I chose it because I love Melissa Cutler's writing style. I like that Ms. Cutler allows her alpha males to have emotions. Not only do they protect those they love, but they aren't afraid to cry or feel. I enjoyed this book...however...a felt things moved too fast near the end ...more

I think that Melissa Cutler has developed a "perfect" recipe for romantic suspense!
Kate McCord is the creative pastry chef at Dead River Ranch when Dr. Levi Colton arrives to treat the ailing father who has never claimed him. Levi has so many conflicting emotions, but he knows that he's attracted to Kate and her mouth-watering desserts. Then he also discovers that she's involved in the troubles surrounding the ranch and he's more involved than he ever thought he could be.

This was a great romantic suspense. Without being overly sex driven, a real romance bloomed. Seeing their relationship building and turning into something real, it's a feel good story. Levi and Jethro, the father that never wanted him, turned the story into something deeper than a normal romance. The added mystery of a killer on the loose had you turning page after page. This was a great story, and I really think everyone will enjoy it.

As always Melissa has written a great book. I loved it. Levi and Kate are wonderful characters who are strong, caring, troubled and compliment each other. The story captivates you from the beginning. Colton by Blood by Melissa Cutler is the second book in The Coltons of Wyoming series. Dr. Levi Colton is called to Dead River Ranch to care for his father, a man that never claimed him as a son. Looking for some closure, and to help his half sisters, Levi knows he is in for a challenge. When he did not expect was to find Kate McCord, a pastry chef with her own mission and sweet smile. Neither is eager to put their heart on the line, and plenty of more pressing matters are on their minds. The Co ...more

Cutler ended up in the unenviable position of second. This is the second book in the Coltons of Wyoming six-book mini-series. The basic ground-work was already in place making her job of moving the story forward, but not moving it too far an interesting challenge. As always, Cutler is up to the job. Her book was well-crafted and brings new clues to the table for those readers playing along at home. The HEA is self-contained and comes to a logical for now conclusion.
