Ellis Drake's The Aspen House is a seventy-five page short story/novella about a rock star (DeBracy) who takes his friends to a remote cabin in the mountains. He hires a cook, Miranda, for their stay. The story begins as a potential romance, but quickly turns into a murder mystery once DeBracy's girlfriend, friend, and hired hand get bludgeoned to death. Without giving it away, more clues unfold and Miranda finds herself a new boyfriend.
