3 1/2 stars. Starts with some mystery & action, then becomes a story of building a relationship with a hint of mystery always there. Then the action/mystery returns with a great twist and really sweet ending. Would have liked a epilogue of the future, and a little more back story on Mel & Alec, but for a short story you get a little back story that is fit into the story well. There was a solid foundation to make this a full book and add some more action, but the book moves right along and keeps you interested.
Had a little prob with the language. It takes place in Scotland & the characters were from New Zealand, yet most of the story seems to be American English.

Good humor, and interesting characters.
