A sweet, funny, and highly accurate portrayal of getting your first kiss. Wonderfully demonstrates the classic teen struggle of putting yourself out there when feeling awkward and unsure. A must read!

Camp Kiss Review on K-Books

Ever since I heard about Spencer Hill Press having a new imprint for Contemporary books I was overjoyed. I am such a contemporary kick lately and really can't get enough of YA or NA contemporary books. After waiting very impatiently for news on what their first book release would be I heard about Camp Boyfriend, the first in a series by JK Rock....
Then enter the news that there would also be a free download of the prequel novella, Camp Kiss, I was pretty much bouncing

Awww this was such a sweet story, can I please have Camp Boyfriend now?

Here we have 14 year old Lauren arriving to summer camp decided to upgrade her relationship status with his long time camp best friend, Seth, she has been dreaming with this and not having her new braces can stop this from happening. But then her friends dare her to kiss him, knowing she's been swooning over Seth for a while now, this is just getting more complicated...

I quite like Lauren, she really is a geek girl, she likes

CAMP KISS gives a realistic portrayal of camp life, including whitewater rafting and pup tents in the woods. But the most intriguing element of the book is Lauren's relationship with Seth--a tall, dreamy, mature boy almost any girl would swoon over. Each time they're together, the reader hopes their friendship will become so much more. And CAMP KISS is not without a villain, excitement, and even danger. It's a romantic, fun read that all ages can enjoy. I highly recommend it. ...more

"Camp Kiss" by J.K. Rock is a very pleasant trip down memory lane... or at least the memory lane I would have liked it to be! I am almost certain that practically everybody who ever went to summer camp wound up "in love" with another camper. Summer camp is the home to more surreptitious kisses, sweaty hand-holding, and broken hearts, than any other venue, with the possible exception of High School. Still, summer camp is remembered with fondness throughout one's life.

"Camp Kiss" is a tale that w

Oh my goodness...I missed out on a good thing, summer camp. J. K.. Rock's novella, Camp Kiss, really made me wish I had that opportunity. I've always wanted to go, and reading about Lauren and Seth's story, took me there. The setting was quite vivid, and I could envision the trails, the trip down the rapids, and the camp circle in the evening. I loved watching Lauren and Seth wrangle with their feelings, and how they approached their first kiss. It made my heart pitter patter, because it caused ...more

When I started this short story I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. This is such a cute and enjoyable story. And even though it isn't a full lenght book, it isn't rushed at all. I also loved the setting, I felt like I really was there at the camp and I actually feel a little bit sad we don't have camps like that in the Netherlands.

The story is a bit predictable, but it is really enjoyable and I wanted to keep reading. The story is perfectly paced and while I thought it would be only a

When I spotted the link to grab a copy of Camp Kiss, I pretty much shot across and had it on my Kindle in less than a minute. I’d had my eye on this way since I revealed the cover (seems eons ago), so I was real excited to check this out before the ARC’s get shared.
And I’m seriously glad I did.
Not only have I come away totally understanding the title of Camp Boyfriend, but I’ll now also be heading into that book with a full recognition of how it all came to be. And I always kind of love that fo

I stumbled upon Camp Boyfriend and then noticed that there was a prequel. I decided to read it first and in a way, I wish that I wouldn't have, simply because I got too involved in the story. Is that a bad thing?

I could relate to Lauren. When I was 14, I had big dreams of going to space. I loved to watch a movie called SpaceCamp over and over and over again. I was also about that age when I discovered that boys were kind of cute. I felt kind of awkward at that age--not really a girl, yet not re

I loved this novella! It was so sweet and funny!

I love how this novella portrays perfectly the life of a teenager and their struggles. In a sense I was just like Lauren! Lauren was insecure of putting herself out there, she was also awkward and funny and I loved her! Even though she was all of that I loved her determination to get the kiss of the boy she likes, I admired that about her. Oh and don't get me started Seth! He was so hot and perfect

This was a cute short story about Lauren and Seth's first kiss, and how worried she was that he would be upset when he found out that she had been dared to kiss him.
It isn't the first time that I’ve come across this storyline, but it was done pretty well, and I liked getting to experience their first kiss.
The thing I probably liked most about this short was that we got a bit of Seth’s back story, alth

Camp Kiss by J.K. Rock
Upon returning to camp again this year Lauren's cabin plays truth or dare and she is set to kiss Seth. He's been coming to camp as his grandfather owns the place, every year and they have a crush on one another.
Love hearing of how they spend their time as it's very similar to when I went to camp myself.
Love hearing of the camp setting in the Smokey Mountains and the detailed descriptions of other things in the locale, the trails, rafting and other events. Brought back a lot

This was a quick fun read, and as I've always found the case for Joanne one I enjoyed. Only found one typo, which in today's e-world (and event print) seeing way too many of those in the "published" product.

The official collaboration of Joanne and Karen captured those tumultuous years of pre and early teens. Felt the anxiety, wanting it so bad, to cross that line, not to disappoint her friends, the boy or herself yet not wanting to ruin the longtime friendship with her best pal either. And of co

This book was a prequel for the book 'The Camp Boyfriend'. I decided to read this one before the other one. Because that's how they're numbered. I like the background information for the next book.

I took me a while before I understood evetything in the book because I had the feeling the book started in the middle of the story.
The book flew by, it had long but good chapters!
I think I liked Lauren, but Seth.. I don't really know. I'm not convinced by the two of them.

I really liked this one better than Camp Boyfriend bacuse the Lauren I found and read about in this is totally likable and involved and most importantly she is unburdened by the choice between two boys she's come to love.

This tells the story of how she ans Seth started their Camp Fling. When Seth (view spoiler). I still don't prefer Seth much but I get that he was truly her frie

I wasn't sure if i'd like this since i don't generally read teen romance, but a friend i went to camp with recommended it since it reminded her of our time at camp and she was right. Camp Kiss made remember everything that was awesome about camp. The authors captured exactly what it was like to be a young teenager at camp. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. ...more

This novella was actually really good! I can't believe it's free! I wasn't really sure what to expect from it so I went into it with okay expectations! What I got though definitely exceeded my expectations! The plot of this novella was very well written! It was slightly longer than some other novellas that I've read, but I really enjoyed it! It was interesting to experience what it's like at a summer camp because we don't really have them in the UK so it was good to learn a bit more about someth ...more

I have never been to summer camp. Sure... I did the day camp thing, but never an over night, stay out in a cabin in the woods and bond with other girls and crush on other boys kind of thing.

If I had, I imagine it would have been exactly like this... or at least I would have hoped it would be.

Let me just say that this book took me back to my days as a teen. Worrying if a certain boy liked you, worrying what the other girls think of you, trying to make a place for yourself and the happiness you

I read Camp Boyfriend first, and the review for Camp Boyfriend will be posted soon too. I loved this little novella. It was so adorable. Then again, I like Lauren. I like Lauren, the geeky, space-fanatic, nerdy girl. I also like Seth. Seth is cute and I also loved him in Camp Boyfriend. I love almost all the characters. Hannah is very annoying, I really don't like Hannah. And then thinking that Camp Christmas is about Hannah. We'll see how that goes when I read it.

Camp Kiss is a novella prequel to Camp Boyfriend, the first book in a series about Camp Juniper Point and the kids who attend it every summer.

I expected to like Camp Kiss a lot more than I did. I never went to summer camp, but I love the idea of camp and I’m always interested in books about camp. It’s a cute look into the world of camp and first romances (and first kisses!) and all the uncertainty that goes along with it.

When I first started talking to Karen Rock (half of the writing duo behind this book) she told me about Camp Boyfriend and I contacted Spencer Hill Press straight away. They told me I was the first person to request an ARC. Then I was told I could download the prequel novella, Camp Kiss.

In Short
- Camp Kiss is a great introduction to the Camp Boyfriend series.
- Lauren is a great character who I feel a lot of teenagers will be able to relate to.
- After finishing Camp Kiss I can't wait to read Camp Boyfriend

In Long
Camp Kiss is part of the Camp Boyfriend series and is an introduction to the characters and series who are in Camp Boyfriend (Not all characters though!), which I think is awesome!

Camp Kiss is a pretty sweet and innocent read which I really enjoye

I thought that the plot of this book was sweet and extremely true. It baffles me how the authors, being fully grown adults, could portray such a lovely stage in every girls life so accurately. All the feelings of that time came back to me. I was instantly transported in time and I couldn’t help remembering all the silly complications that bothered me, and the discussions I had with my friends. It was fun to read about what troubles a 14 year old girl, from a grown perspective.
