I found Frommer's Portugal much for useful for trip planning. Fodor's did not enough itinerary suggestions or breakdowns of things to do (in terms of importance). Maps were also lacking....so disappointing as these books used to be far superior to Frommer's travel guides.

As usual Lonely Planet provides the best info and the Ins and Outs of what to expect in a foreign country. The more you read one of their books, before visiting a country the more gratifying and productive your trip will be.

There should be more maps; for example, there should be map of Portugal and map of Lisbon.
