Hi, my name is Lee Dunning, and I'm a social media moron. There, it's out in the open, and you can all send each other Twitters and laugh about me. Go ahead, I'll wait. All done? All right, let's get to the review.

Based on the above paragraph, it probably isn't hard for you to figure out why I picked up this book. A few months ago, I signed up for Twitter because I joined a blog tour and folks expected me to send out little messages to all my contacts. I'm pretty sure I had about three followers by the time the tour started, and those three all belonged to the tour. Oh, well.

I'm trying to be better though, and "How to Twitter" sounded like a quick and dirty way to get me going in the right direction. It is, but as it turns out, a bit too quick and dirty for my taste. While I learned quite a few things (don't be an egghead), the frenetic pace of the book, combined with a shortage of images, made it less useful to a Twitter greenhorn like myself. I needed more hand holding, and a slower pace.

For those of you more comfortable with diving in and flailing away at new things, this book may be all you need. It also has the added benefit of being available through Kindle Unlimited, so that's a bonus if you belong to KU. If you want to learn Twitter in more detail, look at lots of samples, understand more clearly the nuances of this social network site, and don't mind forking over some money, I'm more inclined to recommend "Twitter in 30 Minutes".

I found this book for free on Amazon a while ago and just read it to see if I could learn anything that could help make my tweets more productive. It's a very helpful step-by-step guide with crisp, clear instructions.
The author provides explanations for each of the 30 do-ables (steps) and screenshots to show exactly where to go on Twitter. I knew most of them, but the section on changing your background and putting a widget on your blog helped me. I think this would be perfect for someone who is new to Twitter, wants to set up an account, and wants to get results. Stacey walks you through signing up, getting a username, making tweets and using hashtags.
She offers great advice on what to do, as well as what not to do (ie using hashtags that have no relevance to your tweet just to get views.) The author also mentions different websites and apps that you can use to make scheduled tweets, make your link smaller and follow/unfollow people. I don't use these services, but they might be helpful to other people.

I would recommend this to anyone who uses Twitter, especially those who are new to the site. Whether you've been using the site for 5 hours or 5 years, there are tips in it for everybody.
