I learned a lot about law in this book but it was the story about a strong and resilient woman that was most informative. A good read about the road to success, with many firsts, for Sonia.

What a remarkable person! What a great book. Shows how one can overcome adversity and emerge not with a great ego but with immense integrity and a commitment to bring justice, Realaly makes you believe again in the rule of law. Outstanding in every respect!!!

Justice Sotomeyer is everything we hope a Supreme Court Justice would be. She followers her dream, is loyal to herself and is not too important to ask questions or recognize the work she needs to do. The hardships endured during the early years shaped the strength of her character and successes.

What a great read. She is so honest about women in the higher academics and judicial system. She was blessed with good family and good mentors. And acknowledges those facts. Good book

Sonia clearly shows her path to the Supreme Court so we get an understanding of that process as well as the process of her growth into a strong woman worthy of admiration and respect.

Very simple read for children, and real life photos of Sonia's journey

An amazing woman and a worthy read. I have been reading the early chapters dealing with her childhood to my 8 year old granddaughter who keeps asking for more. Perhaps it is the accessibility/simplicity of the writing which may have been purposeful that keeps me from making this a 5 star read. And as much as this is meant to inspire and speak to making it against great odds, the chapter which restates all her strengths to explain in part how her life differed so radically from her equally ...more

I listened to the CD's of this book in the car. I would have finished it, but couldn't renew again.
