I had to stop reading this on my Kindle, because I got a corrupted copy or something. All of the "fl" and "fi" combinations were deleted, so phrases like "She flew through the fire" came out as "She ew through the re." I suppose I could have continued reading, but it wasn't worth THAT much to me.

Oh my. It gets worse.

This book is a trainwreck and a huge DNF (did not finish). I was almost asleep at times and the author showed the most mundane details! I actually missed Jesse and Heidi because at least they brought some comedy to the whole thing. It was just so...dull. Winston and Allie's relationship came out of nowhere and they're pretty cheesy, but I like that so... but, ugh. Can these YA books just stop?

I received an ARC through NetGalley.

Picking up just three months after the end of Everlast, Evanescent begins with Allie adjusting to her role as queen of Nerissette now that the Fate Maker is out of the picture. However, he's not gone for good, and soon enough the temporary peace is over. It's back to war for Allie and her subjects, and this time it's even more brutal. Allie is also searching for one of the lost relics that she must destroy before the Fate Maker can get his hands on it and use

But she’s got even bigger problems as the newly crowned queen of Nerissette: she must unite her people in the midst of a civil war and capture the Fate Maker—the evil puppet master responsible for the conflict—before he can find another army willing to return him to power. On top of it all, A

This book starts a few months after the big battle, which ends Book 1. Allie has rid Nerissette of the evil Fate Maker - or so she thought. He's back again, and this time, with reinforcements.

Like before, this is a fairly fast paced story. Although it's never clearly explained how the Fate Maker escaped his doom, it doesn't take long for us to know he's back and has joined forces with Allie's jealous aunt (although we never really get the chance to meet her in this book). There are more fight sc

Evanescent (The Chronicles of Nerissette) by Andria Buchanan is book two in her YA fantasy series that follows Allie Munroe, now Queen of Nerissette, and her tumultuous journey of ruling her kingdom, stopping the evil forces of the Fate Maker and her aunt Bavasama, and whether or not it is still possible to send her friends back home.

Picking up three months after Everlast, Evanescent is filled with action and continues the wonderful world-building, as well as, character development that Ms. Buch

"Allie is starting to adjust to life at Nerissette...sort of. Being Queen is still really hard when rumors of the Fate Maker being back start to come up, and it seems like a civil war might be brewing in her land. To top that off, she can't even seem to get any alone time with her newfound boyfriend. Things look like they might be getting a lot worse before they get better." After I DNF'd the first book in this series, it became pointless to attempt this one. I didn't know enough of what was going on.

I won't be reviewing as I don't think it's fair to rate a book I couldn't finish.

Pretty disappointing all around.
Advertised as a Young Adult book, but written on more of a tween level.
A loose plot where much similarity with The Chronicles of Narnia can be seen.
Just not something I would continue reading.

Trapped for years around adults who thought they knew everything, Andria Buchanan started writing to keep herself sane and out of jail. Now, instead of fighting traffic and dealing with staff meetings Andria prefers to spend her days hanging out by the pool in a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt, typing away at stories about young women who are completely capable of kicking butt, saving themselves, ...more
