The best part of this book was the military story by C. Mann. He broke up with her right before his last deployment. Now back he wants her to forgive him. But she has something to tell him. Well two things. One she is pregnant with his child and two she has a stalker. Will he stuck around for the birth? What about her stalker? This Valentine's story has a touch of suspense in it.
This was a cute and slightly comedic read. There’s a touch is suspense with McKenzie’s stalker problem, but it’s very minute. I got a kick out of the groveling Vince had to do to get back in to McKenzie’s good graces after the way he left her. His date plans would go awry, but his feelings for McKenzie were pretty constant.
My rating is based on the short story at the end. An Evening To Remember by Catherine Mann. This is a short story of an Air Force Capt. Vince Novak who broke up with the girl he was seeing before going to serve in Iraq, fearing he could be killed in action he did not want to break McKenzie Rowe's heart. So he is back to win her over. But he is in for a BIG surprise when he lands at McKenzie's feet, not only does she have a stalker hit on her trail, but she is also expecting Vince's baby. This short story is all about winning her over.
The first part of this book was made of 60 entries from various Harlequin author's answering 3 themes of a favorite Harlequin moment, why they write, and why they believe in love. It was nice to see their devotion to the romance novel. The second part was the short story "An Evening to Remember" by Catherine Mann. This was a contemporary military romance between Vince & McKenzie set in Florida which was a nice read for Valentine's Day.
The cover identifies this "an exclusive collection of 60 heartwarming stories and insights," so I thought this was short stories. Instead it was comments from Harlequin authors and wanna-be Harlequin authors about their favorite Harlequin moments or similar things. There was one short story at the end. It was enjoyable enough that I finished the book.
