this book really went even more deeper into teen's feelings on death , well in this case two deaths in 1 year , this book connects to the book "tears of a tiger " if you had read my other review on that book you would have seen the grief these kids had to go through , but in this book andy had took his own life , and his ex-girlfriend which they had broken up a few days before , really had to feel more pain then andy did when his friend robert had died , she didn't know what to think robert was ...more

This book is a really great teenage book. It follows after the book Tears of a Tiger, but the main character is now Keisha Montgomery. This book follows her life and her new situations. In Tears of a Tiger, her boyfriend Andy kills himself after drunk driving and killing his bestfriend. I really liked this book. The fact that Keisha thought Johnathan was a good guy then he completely changes up on her. Johnathan is a psychopath and its a good thing that he has been sentenced to jail for 30 years. Keisha thought that the flowers and necklace was from Johnathan when it really wasn't. i like how Leon never brought it up even they were from him. the crush he has on her is so adorable. When Jalani was new and they brought her into there little circle shows what great friends they are ...more

Darkness before dawn is a great title for this book thinking back to everything that happens. There was many heart breaking moment and there were touching moments in this story. If its not the main character having problems in this book its another side character. All in this book is a bunch of trouble and regret, pushing forward to a better day. All along everyone you thought was your friend or close to you wasn't!

What I really liked about this book is how the plot was so luring, made me keep t
The story was rather predictable, yet enjoyable. Keisha is a smart and ambitious girl who gets swept away by the charms of an older man. She mentions that something doesn't quite sit right with her about the man, but since she can pin-point it, she allows herself to fall into his smooth and sophisticated world. I appreciate a book that has a strong female lead, though there were a few times she seemed a bit naive. As an 18-year-old that's natural.
The one thing I did sort of find that isn't a bi

If the other books in the Hazelwood High series had the vibe of Law & Order for Teens, this book is the Lifetime Movie of the Week edition. It is predictable and melodramatic. I'd only suggest it if a reader became ultra-attached to the characters in the first two books and wanted to know what became of them. Otherwise, one would do better to imagine their futures than to spend time reading them here.

In the novel, Darkness Before Dawn, written by Sharon M. Draper a group of kids are trying to get on with life after the death of their dearest friends Andy and Rob due to a car accident and suicidal act. To move on the group of kids are meeting new people and doing activities to keep their mind off the loss of their friends by doing ordinary teenage activities.

I suggest Darkness Before Dawn to a high school book list because the story replicates the relationships in high school students. They

I think this was a great ending to the Hazelwood High trilogy. I really enjoyed how each scene or chapter focused on one specific character and had moments in their life so we could understand them better and understand how they feel. I think this book also taught many life lessons, for example, dealing with tough situations. Keisha had to overcome depression and other feelings after her boyfriend Andy committed suicide, and she learned to be a leader and a better person by comforting his family ...more

In the book "Darkness Before Dawn," by Sharon M. Draper, the characters resist stereotypes of girls, women and boys. I have chosen Feminist Literary Criticism from the three reading response theories. This is a type of reader response about the stereotypes of women in society. To show how this book resists stereotypes of women, I have chosen four characters from the book. I think each of these four characters is either a very strong woman or thinks women are strong.

Sometimes a reader doesn’t need a novel that will keep him/her up all night long; it can just be a book that they can easily connect to and find it relaxing.
