Oh I think I drooled over most of this book just looking at the pictures. What beautiful photography. Then I started picking my favorites to try out and well, I had to get a cloth. LOL I tried 4 different recipes so far and plan on making at least 9 more. I do have a favorite The lemon pie with basil whipped cream topping. I am such a glutton I have made it twice this month. I used the basic pie crust recipe with my family tells me was good but not as good as the one I usually make. I agree it lacked the flakiness I enjoy with my recipe. The lemon filling was fabulous and the whipped cream basil topping THE BEST ! I have already made it for scones, topped crepes and even added some on shortbread cookies. It is so flavorful in all the right ways for me. Another recipe that I loved was the Cream Fraiche recipe, I have paid top dollar at the store for that for years and it is so easy to make and very affordable. i will never buy it again.
The book is set up extremely well, very user friendly. There are suggestions for which crust to use, which topping might work and adaptations you may want to try all right next to the main recipe. The publisher was so smart they even included the page numbers for the recipes ! If you love pie you need this book.

I am from Louisiana, so I know southern food when I see it and it is all over this cookbook. I adore the layout and tiny personal stories the author gives before the recipes. I have made the simple pie crust over 20 times since I bought it: so you know there is something good there. I have also made the buttermilk pie and the lemon chess pie out of the book and they turned out pretty good.

The recipes are very easy to follow and they are not extensive like you find in most cookbooks. This book is great for a beginning baker because it has great resources, pie crusts, and there are not many ingredients per pie. My only complaint is (and this may just be because I am picky) there is not a single pecan pie recipe in the entire freaking book. I was pissed when I didn't see a pecan pie recipe in a SOUTHERN cook book. It just seems unnatural. But I think the awesome pie crust makes for that.

All is forgiven.

Well-written directions, with enough taste descriptions that made me want to try almost all of the recipes.

A great all purpose (sweet) pie book. I took the book out from the library and there were so many recipes I wanted to try I had to go directly to amazon and put it in my cart.

This cookbook is great for both beginners and experts at making pie. I love all of the details on how to make pie crust and all of the different designs you can try such as braids, pearls, leaf cutouts, or fork press. I love that almost every single pie has an accompanying picture. For me, being able to see a picture is very important in determining whether I should make the recipe or not. Some of my favorite pies that I made are the Chocolate Fudge Pie with Praline Crumble, Summer Berry Pies, Mixed Berry Cream Pie, Zebra Pie, Peanut Butter Candy Pie, Mocha Fudge Cobbler, and Frozen Strawberry-Lemonade Pie.

This cookbook is ridiculous! Every recipe I have made is phenomenal! I usually make bulk pie crusts from a Better Homes and Garden old school cook book, but this crusts in this book have turned me into an individual crust girl. My favorite is the Sweet Potato with Marshmallow Merengue. This is a must have!!!!

All the recipes are so simple and everything looks delicious! I always prefer books like in this case including pictures for every recipe. This book is perfect for beginners, not only you'll find different pie crusts but also a lot of helpful tips and also all the equipment needed is explained.
Next to the crusts there are also different toppings explained in an extra section.
