He was her best friend...until he became her fantasy.
A More Than story.
Lucy Lawson's got it bad. Bad as in stunned speechless by the situation she's in, by the feelings sitting on her chest, ready to explode. She's in love...with her best friend.
Problem is, telling Sebastian Blackford could destroy the best thing in her life, but the longer she keeps her feelings under wraps, the stronger the need to spill her secret.
The last thing Seb suspects is that his best mate is madly, wildly in love with him, or that he's the star of her seriously dirty fantasies. Worse, he's just started seeing someone he'd like to see again--and Lucy knows it.
So why does her confession hit him like a runaway train? And why can't he get her explicit description of her fantasies out of his mind? They've never been more than friends, but now that he knows how Lucy feels, everything is out of whack.
Seb figures it's up to him to get their relationship back on track. He'll do it too, just as soon as he establishes which track is the right one.
After reading this, you may just be tempted to jump your best friend. It's recommended you keep your partner on speed dial or a toy with fresh batteries on standby.
Jess Dee lives in beautiful Sydney, Australia, with her husband, their two sons and their insane dog - a ridiculously overweight puggle named Luigi.
An avid romance reader since her early teens, Jess knew one day, when she grew up, she’d have to write her own love stories. It might have taken a while, but in December of 2005, she finally got “the call.” Her first book, Photo Opportunity had been contracted. Now you can’t hold her down. She’s completed a whole host of books, and is finally doing the work she loves most— writing romance.
It was a nice little read.. I really liked Lucy, her attitude and her character.. I would like for it to be a full novel because a person like her could deliver drama so good.. Seb was o.k. i think but there was something missing.. Overly it was an easy read.. And i loved the kissing scene so much..
I'm a huge Dee fan and she has an awesome ability make her stories sizzle like no one else. Seb's revelation was fast, but in true Dee fashion she made it make complete sense. The story may have been short, but Dee never takes the easy route to falling in love. It had the perfect combination of heat, chemistry, emotions, and of course I shed some tears! Now be prepared, because we do get one panty melter of a scene with them in the bathroom! Given how hot that scene was, I so would have loved to see more of the chemistry between them, but then again I honestly never want Dee's stories to end! :) I can't wait for the next book!
Can someone please pass me a fan? Some ice maybe? Anyone?? *looks around*
This was one HOT friends to lovers tale. I have read several books by this author and have yet to find one I didn't love! Ms. Dee sure knows how to write a hot story! In More than Friends we have Lucy and Sebastian who have been best buds for many years. When Lucy has the sudden realization that she's fallen in love with Seb, she has to figure out if its better to keep those feelings to herself or let him in on the new development. Obviously, she goes with the latter and shocks the sh*t out f him! What follows is some seriously smoking sex and the two of them trying to figure out which way to take their relationship with all these new developments.
I really liked this story and how it unfolded. There were a few moments where I thought things may not go in a direction to my liking and I wanted to smack a few characters in the head but in the end it all came together and I was happy! :-) The writing was great and for a shorter book the characters were very well developed. It was nice that we knew from the beginning that Lucy and Seb had already known each other for years rather than just meeting and falling in love too soon. I would love to see a follow up to their story and see where they end up!
I really liked the premise of this one and liked what I was reading until Seb's reaction to when Lucy bared her feelings. I get that he was stunned, but he let her go, then when he did come after her he started thinking with his little head, not his big one. It got worse when things heated up and sex fully came into the equation. It seemed like from there Seb did everything wrong. I found myself feeling like Lucy did on her run. I was glad to see her confront Seb, thought her argument was a good one. I think I might be in the minority with how things went from here. I didn't buy into what Seb's explanation, nor did I buy into what looks like their HEA.
This was short and sweet! Actually short and white-hot! The only thing I was cringing over was Lucy's confession. It was way, way too much information to tell Sebastian!! Holy shit, she did not hold back. But short and definitely entertaining ;-))))
While this tried to be a flirty, sexy friends to lovers story, I found the circumstances in the book cheapened the relationship and didn't find it sexy at all.
Lucy and Sebastian are best friends. They’ve been best friends for years. They run together, talk and text each other, are able to lean on each other when they need advice or solace and have an open movie night every Sunday. Though lately Lucy’s feelings have changed. Seb isn’t just her best friend, he’s the star in all of her fantasies and the man she’s fallen in love with. After one of their movie nights Lucy finally confesses her infatuation and shocks the hell out of poor Seb.
I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers storyline. They call to me.. I can’t resist them. All that history and strong foundations create a wonderful set up for some intense emotions and wonderful sexy times. Seriously, who could resist that? Seb and Lucy have been friends for years before she drops her emotional bomb on him out of the blue, not knowing he’s met someone who he feels a connection with already. When she finally lets her feelings be known Seb just kind of sits there… then tells her he’s met someone and doesn’t feel the same way as she does. He loves her as a friend, not a lover. After Lucy races off in humiliation Seb chases her down and begins a confusing mix of emotions, anger and a man thinking only with his buddy below the belt.
Since this is only about 80 pages there wasn’t much page time for a realistic resolution. I had the feeling that this story could have been so much more than it was. The confession comes to a head with a long sex scene, then very little talking and all of a sudden it’s over and it’s love. It was hard for me to believe Seb’s emotional evolution since he says he loves her as a friend, sexes her up and then time jumps and it’s days later when he tells her his feelings have changed. Maybe if he hadn’t jumped her right after telling her he loved her just not in that way I would have been more satisfied. The emotional connection between these two just wasn’t believable. Final grade- C-

If I could give this 0 stars I would. So I'm all for a hot and steamy romance and I thought the idea of a girl confessing her love for her long time best bud would be a nice story line. Two pages in I had a feeling this book was going to be horrible and it didn't prove me wrong. I'm all about hot and steamy (I quite enjoyed the Fifty Shades trilogy) so that's not the problem here. It was just the way it was written. It was crud and blunt and quite frankly hard to believe as real. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and the way Lucy "expressed" her love for Seb had my jaw dropped to the floor....really? Who does this? It was ridiculous. She sounded flat out pathetic. Then, wait a minute the man that has no interest in her suddenly becomes a sex raged pervert. It was all over the place for me. This is the first book in my life that I actually didn't finish reading and that's saying a lot. Even if I don't care for a book I finish it out to see the ending but this trash got deleted after the bathroom scene...which I skimmed through trying not to vomit. Maybe it ended better than it started but I just couldn't stomach anymore.
That's a short story, which IMO tried to tackle a topic - from friend to lovers - which is difficult to make convincing in not enough pages. I did not like that I did not really understand why the heroine had fallen in love with the hero. As I understood it, it was because one day he shaved his hair instead of progressively getting bald. It seemed rather superficial as a reason for such a change of heart. As the story began, she unfolded her unrequited feelings to her long time friend. Oh, that was awkward. I really felt so bad for the poor girl, who not only had fallen in love with the wrong guy but moreover was such a poor speaker that she botched her declaration like that. The remainder of the plot remained awkward. I rather understood the heroine, but the hero, I really could not. I also did not believe in their relationship lasting at the end of the book, despite their having been friend for 4 years before.
I needed a lighter read after the book I read before this one and thought this would be perfect. It was just what I needed. Steamy hot chemistry and sex with some angst. It took a lot of balls for Lucy to tell Seb how she felt, and his reaction was less than perfect, in fact it was pretty much THE WORST. I can’t imagine how she felt.
Once they worked everything out, I was extremely happy. I didn’t need any extra drama or details, to me this was the perfect amount of everything.
Annoying as fck! Clearly this girl couldn't take a hint! Obviously when he's that into you he shows it, but he's not, and she's full on self-pity and whiny and creepy. This guy liked this other girl that he goes on a date with her and she shows up at his house and guilt trips him - the nerve! - and did I mention creepy? Gaaah! Hate her!!!
More Than Friends is Jess Dee at her best, with charismatic characters, intriguing twists and turns, and lots of scorching hot sex, especially the action in the bathroom.
Lucy Lawson and Sebastian Blackford have been best friends for six years, ever since Lucy split from Seb’s friend Leo. She has cried on his shoulder over breakups and they have fun together as friends do. So why, after all this time, does Lucy discover she has feelings for Seb, and not those of a friend. She fantasizes about him, hot, sexy fantasies, all starring him. When Lucy can’t keep it to herself another minute, she confesses her feelings to him after one of their movie nights, hoping he feels the same. When Seb tells her that he does indeed love her, just not ‘like that’, Lucy runs away from him, humiliated and hurt. Seb knows what she is going to do; cut him out of her life like he never existed. He’s seen her do it before after breaking up with the men in her life. He is determined she isn’t going to do that; they are friends, after all, and even though Seb has met a woman he thinks he could be serious about, he doesn’t want to lose his best friend in the world. When he tries to confront Lucy about their friendship, she is already building the walls and cutting ties to him, until he hears her details of the most recent fantasy, then his brain shuts down and his libido takes the wheel. After one of the most erotic experiences he has ever experienced, he realizes he needs to take time to untangle his inner turmoil, and Lucy takes it to mean he is cutting ties with her. Can these two discover what love really is beofre they lose it all? Can Seb wake and see that what he wants has been in front him all along? Will Lucy let her walls down long enough to accept what Seb has to give?
I like Lucy and Seb, and their easy going friendship at the heart of this one. This is the ‘friends to lovers’ classic, but with a slight twist of irony to it. There are wonderful, passionate moments, and a few places that brought a tear or two to my eyes. I liked that there were no other characters to interact with Lucy and Seb; yes there is mention of the ‘other woman’ in Seb’s life, but we never actually see her until a brief appearance near the end of the book.
Lucy Lawson is not your average ‘girly girl’. She enjoys spending time with her best buddy, and has spent six years sharing the good times and bad with him. She isn’t sure exactly when her feeling went from best buddy to love, but she can’t keep it to herself anymore. I love Lucy and her open and honest quirkiness I also like that she put herself out there, willing to hope her feelings would be returned. I wasn’t happy with Lucy’s method of dealing with her hurt, retreating and starting to build emotional walls between them.
Sebastian ‘Seb’ Blackford is strong, fun loving and easy going, ready for whatever life throws his way. At least that is what he thought, until the night Lucy turned his whole world upside down with her declaration of love. I enjoyed watching as Seb tried to come to grips with Lucy’s fantasies, while trying, unsuccessfully, to keep his libido in check. I had to laugh as Seb expressed how he felt about Lucy, wondering how he couldn’t see, with everything he said, that he did have feelings, very deep ones, for her.
This is filled with passion and the confusion that comes when two people discover that things have taken a turn for the hot. Jess Dee has a way of taking a simple story of friends who discover they have more than friendship, and taking it to a new level of caring. I liked Seb’s determination to keep Lucy in his life, and watched as he found a way past her walls. These two made me laugh, cry and sigh, and I had the fan on more than once during this one. I will certainly never look at my bathtub in quite the same way again.
KcLu gives MORE THAN FRIENDS 4.75 Stars More Than Friends by Jess Dee is a panty melting bunch of smoking hotness!! This is a quick read that will have you panting by chapter three!!! Have the ice water, fan, and man/toy handy when opening this beauty up!!
Lucy has a problem, and its name is Sebastian. Her best friend has been on her mind in a new way lately, and she doesn’t know what to do about it. He has been staring in her every erotic fantasy, and it is quite frankly driving her crazy.
Sebastian is thrown for a loop when his best friend tells him that she is not only in love with him, but that she has been masturbating to fantasies of him and her together. The fact that she did it in the tub before meeting him for dinner especially has his thoughts going in a whole new direction. But he knows he doesn’t feel that way for her. Can he convince her to stay apart of his life? And can he get the thoughts out of his head, before he acts on them.
This is a great story of going from friends to lovers. Jess does a wonderful job of showing the emotions that pop up on both sides of the equation. I absolutely adore that we are allowed into both of their thoughts and feelings, and not left guessing what was going on in the other’s head. I highly recommend this book to you guys, and I can’t wait to see where this new series takes us!!
Slick gives MORE THAN FRIENDS 4 Stars Pssst….did you hear? Jess Dee has a new series and I could not be more excited! I’m a series gal through and through and there isn’t one of her series I haven’t read and enjoyed. Although I am STILL waiting for The Tanner Siblings’ cousins to get their own series and the third Speed book, but it’s obvious she’s been busy and I’ll be patient and keep waiting and waiting……and until then let’s talk about the More Than series!
As soon as I read the synopsis for More Than Friends, I knew I’d enjoy it but I didn’t realize how much. I love friends to lovers stories, there’s just something so engaging about them but this couple really intrigues me because Sebastian (Seb) use to be friends with one of Lucy’s ex-boyfriends. That’s how they met, but Seb and the guy aren’t friends any longer and he considers Lucy his best friend. Thing is lately Lucy isn’t seeing Seb as just a friend and she’s decided it’s time to make a move and let him know just what she’s thinking and how she’s feeling.
Wow did Lucy ever take poor Seb by surprise and he wasn’t expecting it! It was interesting to watch them muddle through their relationship once the cat was out of the bag. I admire Lucy for being courageous enough to admit her feelings to Seb and my heart broke at his first response. I love that Seb didn’t let Lucy hide from him but I will admit he confused me a little with his actions, so I can only imagine how Lucy felt.
It’s hard not to fall immediately in love with Jess’ characters, they just jump off the page and make themselves at home in your heart. Lucy is brave and when she gets going, she’s pretty damn outspoken. Seb seems so laid back and then bam…he is all total alpha, hot as hell man! When these two finally work things out, their sex scenes are explosive!
I understand these two have known each other for awhile but I still wanted more! It’s my hope that since this is a series we’ll see these two again and my questions will be answered. Despite that, More Than Friends was more than enjoyable; the characters melted my heart and the sex scenes melted my panties. I can’t wait to see what Jess has in store for us next!
MORE THAN FRIENDS is a friends-to-lovers with an emotional twist. In less than a 100 pages it tells a seemingly one-sided FTL story that had me wondering how it was going to turn out and if there was going to be a HEA.
I'll give the critical reader that Seb's turnabout is rather sudden and not in line with how the book starts out but at the same time I'll admit it didn't bother me because without it there would be no story.
I love Jess Dee and I love her books. She has the ability to take tropes that are well-established and give them her own spin. She always surprises me and never takes the easy route.
Jess Dee never disappoints me with her sex scenes. Those in MORE THAN FRIENDS were hot! Really hot! White-hot! Seb and Lucy set the pages on fire.
I loved this first book in the series and I'm looking forward to the next book!
Fave Scene: - the kiss > OMG! That kiss!
Fave Quotes: “No, you know what’s stupid?” She dropped her foot. “You doing everything in your power to make me come, and then not giving me the same opportunity. You using your hands and your mouth all over my body, getting me off like a hundred times, and then not caring enough to wait for me to return the favor.”
She cut him off, not ready for him to have his say. Not yet. She had two days worth of pent-up frustration to blow off, and blow it off she would. Seb could just shut up and listen. “Know what else is demeaning and humiliating? When a man kisses your breasts. And your p*ssy. When he kisses every inch of your skin, even leaves his mark on your body—several times—but he doesn’t have the respect to kiss you on the lips. To touch his mouth to yours and make the whole encounter just the tiniest bit intimate. The tiniest bit personal.”
[Seb]“I never phoned because I was really busy with work. And with thinking about you. And with putting my world back together. You blew it apart. Changed all the rules. And when I began picking up the pieces and fitting them back into place, they didn’t fit where they used to. I couldn’t jam the round pegs into the square holes. There were never square holes before Sunday night. I never had to fit round pegs into them.”
I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers romance. I am also a sucker for the good bout of eroticism and romance that Jess Dee can deliver in her books. It goes to show just how out of the loop I have been to have missed out on Jess Dee’s More Than series which debuted in 2013 which I found out about only just last month. When I stumbled upon the series, I wasted no time in acquiring all three novellas and curled up in bed to enjoy the wild ride that only few authors such as Jess can only deliver.
Lucy Lawson has landed in the mother lord of all problems. She has fallen in love with her best friend going six years. Sebastian Blackford has no clue as to the mass riot of feelings coursing through Lucy’s heart, body and soul and feels gobsmacked when Lucy just lays it all out on him, the pent up desire and all that love laid bare for him to see.
Though Sebastian tells himself that he wants nothing more than friendship with Lucy, from the moment Lucy’s admission stamps images full of eroticism in his mind, there is no turning back from the desire that courses through him and practically floors him with the force of his want and desire.
More than Friends is a novella that hit all those spots with just 60 plus pages. The only thing more I could have asked for was a full fledged sex scene after all those scenes that served as foreplay and barely satiated my thirst for more of Sebastian. Its hard not to love all the male that Sebastian is. You’d just have to grab yourself a copy and find out for yourself lest I give too much away in my review.
A book that pulls no emotional punches, More than Friends is a testament to how an author who works for you can make even three short pages worth of a story give all that you want. Recommended for those who love quick, short and hot reads!
The story begins with Lucy and Seb who are best friends, when Lucy-loo flips the script and admits to Sebastian that she's in love with him.
a great friendship that blossomed after Lucy breaks up with a friend of Sebastian has totally spun out of control. some would think that since Seb was friends with Lucy's ex that they would not stay friends, but they were great for each other, he was always there when she had breakups or she needed a shoulder to cry on but after spilling the beans to Seb that she was in love with him and couldn't stop thinking about him the bottom of the bucket fell out.
See at the time Lucy spilled her heart out, she hoped that he would feel the same way, that he would tell her that she wasn't in this alone; unfortunately Lucy had missed the whole conversation Seb had had with her about the fact that the girl he had been on a date with recently, he really liked her and wanted to see more of her.
Lucy had an oh snap moment and ran for the hills.... See her way of coping with weird and uncomfortable situations was to shut that person out, cut them from her life and Seb didn't want that... He loved Lucy, maybe not in the way she wanted him to, but he loved her and wanted her in his life for always.
So what'll happen?? Will Lucy be able to cut Sebastian out of her life for good, sever all ties with him? or will Sebastian find a way to keep Lucy in his life for always.

For such a short story, this packed one emotional punch. I read it in one sitting. It's a great friends to lovers story. Lucy and Sebastian have been friends for years but one day Seb changed his look and Lucy saw him in a whole new light. She has been holding her feeling inside and its killing her. Seb ask her whats wrong and she couldn't contain them anymore. They burst from her in a painstakingly embarrassing way only for him to tell her that he doesn't feel the same. When she leaves to go lick her wounds and try to forget him he wont let her. He can't lose his best friend. He confronts her only to get lost in her fantasies.
Very hot read! I wish it was longer so it could build more but you really feel for both characters. He knows from her past experiences that she'll try and cut him out of her life and he can't let that happen. But he also can't get those fantasies off his mind. At certain moments you want to smack both of the characters but I really like how it shows both of their points of view. I would love to get a sequel with these characters.
This is a novella so it’s super short. I’m speechless…and not in a good way. I didn’t connect with the characters at all. I can’t even remember their names half the time. The writing style was good and the book is easy to follow but it just isn’t for me. Seb disturbed me. I just can’t get over it. I was literally at a loss when I finished…
Lucy is in love with her best friend. When she reveals it to him, he doesn't see her the same and is into another girl. Things take an interesting turn...
I know it takes a lot to write a book. I have nothing but respect for the author; I’ve read many things from her. This book just I don’t know. The way Seb just took control and didn’t have a care for her feelings at all bothered me. I understand that he was blindsided by her confession but he shouldn’t have done what he did in that bathroom. Ugh…I hate that I didn’t like this book because I was looking forward to it and I hate giving negative reviews. I give it 1 star…that’s all I can give it. I’m sorry…
Forever friends, nothing more... but the day Sebastian shaved his head it had given him an edge of sensual that took her breath away. He'd become her fantasies and dream about him every night... not just any dream... dirty dreams. Her obsessions with him had continue for too long.. the time has come to tell Seb how she felt...
More Than Friends is a hot short read! Last night I wanted to read a short book but once I started reading this, I didn't want it to end! I was a little disappointed as this could have been a great book if it was longer. The characters are great, the premise of the story was interesting and the sex scenes are steamy hot.. as in hot.. specially the bathroom scenes! ^_^
I didn't have any emotionally attached to the story but I think it's a well written sexy book that would make you feel hot! lol.
DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.
Lucy drops a MAJOR bomb on her best friend... She loves him, like love loves him. It does not go well at all. She shocks her friend. She runs from the rejection and to her surprise Seb comes over refusing to be shut out like she does. Things heat up for them and it changes the course of their friendship for good.
