New author to add to my favorites! John Ramsey Miller. I really enjoyed this book. Talk about sitting on the edge of your chair and not wanting to put it down. The action is so well written, and the end just blew me away. Looking forward to picking up another John Ramsey Miller.

An entertaining thriller written with Hurricane Katrina in the background. Alexa Keen a FBI agent was inadvertently drawn into a local NOPD kidnapping case at the behest of the wife of the victim Gary West. Partnering with local homicide detective Michael Manseur they faced complicity right from the beginning. As bodies piled up in the morgue and time is running out as the hurricane barrels in, one complication leads to another. Digging through the family history Alexa was confronted with many s ...more

A familiar tale of how money and power corrupt.
The storyline was a good one, but it was the writing style I didn't enjoy.
Miller would take you through scenes twice--once with the cops/FBI and once with the perp. Boring!

Everything that happened seemed to be spoon-fed to the reader.

I would like to read more about the development of the FBI agent, Alexa. In this book she was rather green in the field--shutting her eyes when she fired at the perp--WHAT THE HECK?

An FBI agent in New Orleans for a conference when she gets caught up in a missing persons case when it looks like a kidnapping. The missing person is married to a wealthy daughter of a prominent citizen who is used to having his way and throwing is weight around which affects the case. Dealing with “mental cases”, the swamps and bayous and local characters as well as the fast approaching Katrina gives her plenty to handle and the ending is quite a twist when all is revealed.

Totally excellent and unputdownable. I will certainly be looking for more from this author. Picked up at random in a library search a few weeks back for fiction based in New Orleans, and an excellent find. Some good suspense, set against the background of the impending Katrina.

This was a great thriller taking place during the Katrina Hurricane in New Orleans. Alexa Keen is a special agent with the FBI who is searching for a abducted husband of a wealth heiress before he is killed and before Katrina hits. Great setting and wonderful characters.

Was going to be a 3 until the ending. There were simply too many added twists for the book to read in a coherent fashion, in my opinion.
