With my roots ripped from our family tree and placed on another branch, I’m on a quest to reclaim my legacy…

Every action I’ve made since I was five years old was to secure my place in the Whittenhower family. Living in Misery Castle, driving past the manors of my mother and siblings at least twice per day, then staring into the eyes of the father who refused to claim me, this irrevocably changed my path in life.

I’ve manipulated and schemed and took ownership of people who didn’t belong to me, because those who abandoned me also refused to claim them. Was my behavior due to vengeance, validation, or love, I’ll never know. But now that I’m on the cusp of everything I’ve worked toward, I’m unsure if I ever wanted it in the first place.

Unbeknownst to me, there was a greater force at play, weaving its evilness around Dominion and her people.

With a new quest in life, I must connect to the family members who abandoned me. While trying to figure out how to love someone freely and without reservation, I’m finding who Daniel Whittenhower II was truly meant to be.

Publishers notice:

King is the 8th installment of the Mistress & Master of Restraint series. Originally published in 2013, it was taken off-sale in late 2014. Rewritten and re-released in July 2018, it's another book entirely.

Those who read the original may wish to reread the final edition before moving forward in the series. It would be much appreciated if you updated your reviews to reflect the changes, as what used to be is not how it is now, which will confuse new readers. Thank you.

About the author

Erica Chilson

36 books431 followers
Erica Chilson does not write in the 3rd person, wanting her readers to be her characters. Therefore, writing a bio about herself, is uncomfortable in the extreme.

Born, raised, and here to stay, the Wicked Writer is a stump-jumper, a ridge-runner. Hailing from North Central Pennsylvania, directly on the New York State border; she loves the changes in seasons, the humid air, all the mountainous forest, and the gloomy atmosphere.

Introverted, but not socially awkward, Erica prides herself on thinking first and filtering her speech. There are days she doesn’t speak at all. If it wasn’t for the fact that she lives with her parents, giving her a sense of reality, she would be a hermit, where the delivery man finds her months after expiration.

Reading was an escape, a way to leave a not-so pleasant reality behind. Reading lent Erica the courage she gathered from the characters between the pages to long for a different life. Writing was an instrument of change, evolving Erica into the woman she is today- a better, more mature, more at peace thinker.

Erica has a wicked mind, one she pours out into her creations. Her filter doesn’t allow all of it to erupt, much to her relief. Sarcastic, with a very dark, perverse sense of humor, Erica puts a bit of herself into every character she writes.

I've been waiting for Whitt's POV and it did not disappoint. I'm SO invested in this series.

Once again I have questions and little answers, but that's the beauty of Erica Chilson's work. You KNOW the answers will come, you just have to be patient.

Ezra rocked my world in King. I felt like I got a totally different side to him. I am so used to Dr. Lunatic that it was nice to see the real Ezra come out to play. Also, my heart broke for him.

Now the story has jumped the shark for me. This is dragging out forever it feels. Whit is finally storming the castle to get rid of the despots only to find out, they are not. W.T.H? The story went sideways although there has been hints of this fuckery in the previous book.

Niel blows this wide open and I'm as blindsided as Marcus in someways. We are finally back in the present instead of going by different people's viewpoints. The entire family is back but there is another group that is driving all this drama.

This entire game is about rich people with NO life. This theme is built on those who want to play God with other people's life. It's sick, demented and disturbing. Not really enjoying this as much. I still want to know what happens.

The sex in here is still good. Recording and then playing couple's intimate moments is pretty fucked up. Yet, the people in here just love it. This story title should really be called Oedipus Rex. It's more apt with Whitt's relationship with Regina. I don't have a problem with it. I find it erotic. More incestuous sex and rape, what more can a deviant ask for?

The younger generation is coming across more and more evil. Just slaughter the lot of them. I don't care for Ava, never did. Sometimes, it's better to just drown the one who shows more than sociopathic tendencies. It's for the greater good.

What brought this story down is the character's voice. Whitt's voice sounds no different than Regina. Same issues and concerns. 1. How do I protect everyone I love? 2. How do I justify my sexual kinks? 3. Does my lover really love me? Whitt comes across less as a male than Regina did in her trilogy. Ms. Chilson needs to work on having her character's voices differentiated if she is going to write book after book in a series from different character's perspective.

I won't be surprised if Ez has a play in it because he's beyond fucked up. While I would never tell a woman to abort or not, and I'm leaning more towards life, Diane should have aborted Ez. He's too messed up. Maybe if he wasn't raised by Diane, he would have had a chance. Between nurture and nature, he's one step from psychopath. Recommended for those who are hooked on this fucked up drama and just waiting to see what happens next.

KING: M&M of Restraint, #8 is the one I have been waiting to read. WOW!! It blew my mind at the end and I had to go back and read it again. This book is about Daniel Whittenhower II and he will do anything to protect his family. This book answered so many questions for me, but at the end it opened a full can of worms and questions. I did not shake my head wondering, I got whiplash because of this book. It took me a little while to write this review and I still don't know what to say about the end. I know I keep say Are You Kidding Me? The emotional roller coaster ride in this book is more like riding a tornado. This book did not disappoint. Like I said in my review of Restraint if you are not into BDSM this book is not for you. But, if you enjoy an erotic read which gives the reader BDSM, love, hate and a well of other emotions this book is for you and you won’t be disappointed. I loved this series and could not put my kindle down while reading each book.

What can I say about this author? I love her writing and how she grabs you and brings you right into the world she created.

Learning who King really is and what he thinks and feels. We get some new information that will keep you guessing and wondering who is involved. 'King' had me laughing out loud some moments, and now I catch myself using some of the terms, that was used in the book. On top of laughing, there was moments where my heart was breaking for Daniel and everyone around him.

He is having to figure out what HE WANTS, what would be good for him, instead of everyone else.

Reading 'King' you will have some question's answered, and come out with new questions as well. I love all the characters in the books and how we get to still read about them. I hate when a book finishes and your still guessing about the characters, in these books I don't have to do that.

I can't wait to read the next books and see where the amazing mind of Erica Chilson takes us all.

This series is one of my favourites. I really enjoyed reading about Whitt and his transformation. I was a bit concerned about his judgment in Queen's story, especially since it was made very clear that he was gay. (Marrying someone who basically raised you is all kinds of creepy, not to mention a woman, when you clearly prefer men, and live in an accepting circle) I know there was an explanation regarding inheritance etc but it was a little ridiculous to me. It felt like he was still a baby trying to find his footing in an adult world.
It was nice to see how Whitt's development continued in Dalton's story, and came to fruition in this story.

Lots of sexy mm mf mmm scenes to curl my toes.

The WTF plot twist made me squeal in excitement, and consider all sorts of outcomes.

I would recommend reading this series from the beginning, and hang on for the ride.

Once again I am falling for the characters in the M&M books. Everytime I read one I want more MORE MORE!!! I loved KING because it's finally shedding light on why all these characters are the way they are. I am SO happy that Daniel is finally in a "happy place", for how long, well I guess I will have to wait and see. I loved the Epilogue from Ez's voice. He has issues and I love being in his mind. Even though I am left dazed and confused after reading this, I keep playing situations out im my mind of how it will all play out, I CAN NOT wait for more.

King
-- Honestly, when I finished the book I was sitting here trying to acclimate to the fact that I've read one of the best books, no series in entire life...

Erica Chilson has made sure that I'll never fucking forget her books and for that I'm very thankful.

I thoroughly enjoyed Daniel or pretty boy as he is often called as he goes from boy to man.

As he separates fact from fiction and still manages to find the love of his life.

I loved every second of this book.

I'm still emotional, not sure if I can jump into the next book, Faithless, but fuck do I want to.

Thank you,
KMS

This is a great installment to the series but it was the epilogue that really left you gasping.

I love how complex the stories are, how interwoven the characters are with other and not to mention the loops that the author keeps throwing at the reader.

I honestly can't wait for the next installment.
