Circondata dalla semplicità e d ...more

I read this manga after watching "Urasawa Naoki no Manben" where Higashimura featured. Her technique seemed so fast and yet so effortless! I thought she was some kind of prodigy. However, when she talked about her "lame past", as she calls it ,and that severe sensei that mentored her, I started to understand that even if she was indeed talented, her skills were product of years of discipline and training

That's why I decided to read Kakukaku and I am glad I did. It was funny, touching but also ve

It feels to me like an instant classic :D
It's really funny. While sometimes having its jokes with those over the top kind of drawings (including the shoujo-classic white blank eyes), it managed to stay humble with the jokes, giving the room for the autobiographical-story to unfold very well with a mysterious sweetness in every end of its chapters.

The interaction of the main character and her sensei is very interesting. Every time it got better, I feel sad that there's an indication of its going

(Entire series review)I felt in the beginning that the story is slow and it won't be an interesting read...but the writing and funny illustrations kept me truning pages...and now here I am so proud of myself that I thought of completing the series in the beginning no matter what... :)

It's author's personal experience on part of her life that shares a bond with her special art teacher, how the journey of her becoming manga artist is so rollercoaster ride...

It opened my eyes on how a journey to b

It's such a delight to follow Akiko through her journey that never goes quite the way she expected.
An autobiographical tale of art, a teacher-student bond, dreams, time, failure, life. What a wonderful find, I expected nothing of this.

Bello e pregno.

When I heard about this one, I was interesting. Sadly it was quite boring and at times I just wanted to stop and quit reading. But I continued, and I am glad I am finished.

The art was quite pretty at times, but at other times it was over-the-top and looked ugly (like when the characters are shocked, their faces look really ugly and strange).

There was also too much information dump. It got me out of the story, out of the flow, because I had to stop and read. Eventually I just skipped those parts

Yes, I cried at the end, which makes this the second story about a teacher to accomplish this (the other being Good-Bye, Mr. Chips, which wasn't nearly as funny). A good-old-fashioned artistic bildungsroman, complicated by the protagonist's general malaise and illuminated by the spirit of a marvelous instructor.

Might have been four stars, but gets over the edge because of the way the author's journey interacts with the format. We know she'll be an artist, because she's illustrating the story, a

Unlike the novels I have read till date, story is pretty plain and easy going but there are few things one can look forward to. There were some instances where I could completely connect to the protagonist and enjoyed the reality of the situation. Sometimes the unpredictable behaviour of the characters and the outcomes amazed me because I am not used to realistic reads. Overall a chill read and something different to try.

This manga really has the feeling of a real persons striving and failing and working harder to succeed. I really enjoy the introspection of the author on life :)

Aku lemah sama cerita semacam ini.
