I was in need of a light easy read, so I returned to my current go-to series, and once again was happily swept away to the Beach View Boarding House. WWII is still raging at Beach View, and the delightful characters who by now feel like family are bravely carrying on. This book sees midwife Julie and her infant nephew fleeing the bombing in London after the loss of much of the rest of their family, and being taken in by the Reilly family at Beach View. There is a great deal of loss in this book, ...more

After a stressful time at work I was happy to settle down to enjoy a long Easter weekend off with a good book. This was just the right book for the job. It was an easy read and kept me engaged throughout. Maybe because I work with someone an awful lot like Eunice and could relate to Julie that way. It was heartwarming and touching, I loved catching up with the recurring characters Peggy and her family and friends, happy that at last Anne had her baby, that seemed a long time coming it felt like ...more

This was the 4 th book in this series I've read and I've loved them all the recurring characters are becoming like well loved friends.
How they are interweaves into each other's lives and all of this against the back drop of world war 2 makes you realise how truly scary it must have been to have lived through that daily.
Excellently written, I can't wait to start the next one

Enjoyed all the books in this series so far. This one has a lot of sadness but also some happiness too. I highly recommend this book if you like this genre. It's based on the lives of Peggy Reilly and her family running a boarding house during WW2. You really get drawn into the lives of the residents of Beachview. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This was a nice read set around the war years. I've read quite a few books set around this time recently and it's lovely to get immersed in the history of them.

The first half was very good, then it became drawn out. I just didn't like it and by the end I was skimming.
