The Pro Football Hall of Fame Presents: Their Deeds and Dogged Faith

Small, enthusiastic crowds of neighbors and family witnessed the birth of pro football in the coal-mining towns of western
Pennsylvania, where sturdy young men met on rocky, dusty fields to play the game they loved. Today, more than 14 million fans attend pro football games, and more than 100 million watch the Super Bowl on television.

Football's popularity and astounding rise to the number-one position on the American sports scene began after World War II, when the league's mostly small, midwestern franchises moved to larger cities with stadiums large enough to hold the average attending audience of 50,000.

Near where it all began, in Canton, Ohio, pro football has erected a tribute to its legendary heroes of the past, present, and
future. Within these walls is housed a stunning array of collectibles that dramatize the amazing growth of the number-one
spectator sport in history.

Now, in these pages, you can enjoy one of the most exciting and influential sports as only the Hall of Fame can present it. Here, in words inspired by the Hall's honored heroes, in prize-winning game pictures, in memorabilia redolent in nostalgia, are 248 pages that recapture those great and glorious moments comprising the 75 years of the game of pro football.

Excellent collectible. Have to keep in mind the era the book was written though as it may not be for the fans of the modern game. Historical photographs of the Hall from the late 70s and early 80s

Interesting tiny bio of every member of the introductory class of the hall of fame. Unbelievably campy at points (the intro says of the author "his typewriter wears cleats. Listen to it clatter") and a little bit repetitive (it seems like every guy in there lettered in three sports before and did extra sports work on the side while crushing opposition in the pro game) it's still a good one. At least if, like me, you spend twenty one weeks of the year (including playoffs) hyped about the game.

Good book for internet-phobes and football fans. Excellent book detailing the professional and personal accolades of NFL Hall of Famers (pre 1984 when book was written).

This book is kind of outdated now, you can get most of this stuff online (e.g. - Wikipedia, etc.)
